Story:

Introduction
The End of the School

A year has passed since the first event happened at the school. Most of the mutant children have been relocated to a secret facility in the north of the U.S.A, where the experimentations on them are still going on. However, some of them are still missing. The authorities believe they probably live on their own somewhere in the wilderness, but fear some might have joined the Renegades. The world is now split into five groups, each working to achieve their goals.

The Renegades: Made exclusively of mutants, the Renegades want to liberate their kind from what they consider slavery. They also seem to have some secret goals, though a lot suggest that they simply want to take over the world. They generally believe that the normal humans are a lower specie and that the mutants are more evolved, though not all of the Renegades want to hurt humans. Very few information are known about them, but they seem to have massive power and a good organization.

The G.I.G: The Global Intervention Group is made mostly of army men and scientists, though some special units are said to be made of mutants or "enhanced" soldiers. Their goal is to protect humanity, though they don't necessarily believe that the mutants should be completely eliminated. The G.I.G is lead by the General McKenzie with the accord and help of the G20 countries, but very few information about it are known by the public, for obvious safety reasons.

The Guardians: The Guardians are a small group of mutants and normal humans trying to help mutants. When the Renegades destroyed the school and some research facilities, some mutants decided to join them, but others decided to run away. Others were simply never part of any known experimentation, being the simple result of evolution and environmental contamination. The Guardians offer them a place to live, drugs and treatments for those that need them, and try to reinsert them in the "normal" world when it's possible. The Guardians were fonded partially by Dr. Black and it is were most of the missing kids ended up. The Guardians are still a relatively small organization and work mostly underground, to prevent authorities from finding them.

The Watchers: The Watchers are a group of humans, not part of the G.I.G or any other organization, that seek to destroy all mutants. They appeared when the authorities lose control of the security, as a small group that tried to protect what was left of society. When the G.I.G deployed its troops, the Watchers went underground, but they continued to recruit new members and supporters. They have scientists working for them, as well as some highly trained mercenaries and soldiers. They don't like the G.I.G, considering it is too "soft" with the mutants. There are no known leader of the Watchers, though the rumors say they were first part of the army but decided to leave because of their own convictions.

The "Normals": The wide majority of the population, made of the people who are not part of any group and don't know much about the mutants and conflicts going on. They live their normal lives and don't worry much about the rest.

Rules

1 - Follow Midorea's rules. I shouldn't have to tell you that.

2 - Respect everyone. This roleplay takes place in a school-like environment, so of course, you can be a little bully if you want, but don't overdo it.

3 - Make sure you have read and understood everything before you post your profile. If you have some questions or are not sure of something, just PM me.

4 - Follow the roleplay writing style. Your post should be made at the third person in a past tense. They should also be somewhat literate, though they don't need to be grammatically perfect. OOC is allowed, but please put it at the end of your post and between ((double-parenthesis)).

5 - Only three characters are allowed per person. Just to prevent having too many characters and not enough actions for all of them. You can, however, kill one of your character or make it disappear if you don't want it anymore, but only if I agreed to it (means you need to contact me for that).

6 - I can add new rules at any time.

Mutations:

Positive Mutations:
Positives mutations are those that make your mutant stronger in some way, or at least give him something normal humans don't have. They are generally placed in three categories: physical, mental and exterior. They are classed from level 1 to 5, depending of the amount of extra strength they give, and their level is added to the total because they make a mutant more powerful.

Physical mutations are anything that change the body of a mutant, in a visible or invisible way. From example, a character with the ears and tail of a cat and another with the power to run faster than a train both are considered to have physical mutations. Physical mutations are quite common, though the more important ones (those that change a mutant's appearance) also come with negative effects, making the mutant easily noticeable in a crowd of normal humans.

Known + physical mutations:
Animal combination: Having various body part of an animal or hybrid, no transformation i.e those part are always there
Dematerialization: Allows you to pass through object, lv3 and below only works on the mutant
Physical enhancement: Above average speed, strength, senses, etc. (if more than one, please specify what you have in your profile, like "Physical enhancement - Strength")
Self-healing: Healing power, but only works on yourself
Shapeshifting: Change shape to one other thing, only on yourself

Mental mutations are anything from being slightly more intelligent than a normal human to having telepathic powers. They are also quite common, though they are sometime harder to detect. They often came with minor negative mutation, like getting headache or being tired after using certain powers. They always require a good amount of concentration to work properly, though the exact time for which a mutant needs to concentrate depends of the level of the mutation. The higher the level, the smaller the time needed.

Known + mental mutations:
Mental enhancement: Above average intelligence, wisdom, concentration, etc.
Talking to animals: Talking with animals, no control over them
Talking to plants: Talking with plants, no control over them
Telepathy: Can read mind and detect other living being in a certain field, cannot control other people

The expression "exterior mutations" is used to describe mutation that doesn't affect the physical or mental capacities of a mutant. For example, a mutant able to control water and use it to attack or defend himself isn't a physical mutant, and cannot be considered as a mental mutant either. Exterior mutations are generally the ones that control or affect the surrounding of a mutant, without necessarily affecting the mutant himself. Like mental mutations, they often require a certain amount of concentration to work properly. Since they are not really link to the mutant, those mutations often have control issues, for example a mutant with control over fire might involuntarily set things on fire when he gets angry.

Known + exterior mutations:
Control over an element: Control over a certain element, lv3 and below needs a source of the element to work (lighter, bottle of water, etc.)
Healing: Healing abilities, only works on others
Lifebringing: Bring one object (lv3 and below) or more (lv4 and 5) to life
Transformation: Shapeshifting only usable on others


Negative Mutations:
Negatives mutations are generally classed into two simple categories: physical and mental. They are classed from level 1 to 5, depending of the severity of the troubles caused, but their level is subtracted from the total because they make a mutant less powerful.

Physical effects go from being slower when you use your powers to being paralyse and in a wheelchair all the time, with anything you can think of in between. It also includes being unable to mix with normal people because some of your mutations make you easily noticeable as a mutant, for example because you have fur all over your body and a four feet long tail.

Known - physical mutations:
Cannot blend with normal people: Mutants with physical mutations are easily noticeable by normals, giving them some trouble in the normal world (goes from -1 to -4)
Physical disorders: Goes from having mild headache to being paralysed or constantly sick

Mental effects go from getting tired after using your powers to having heavy mental troubles like schizophrenia. It includes all the concentration problems and the lack of control over certain powers, as well as emotional and behavioural problems.

Known - mental mutations:
Concentration troubles: Lack of concentration creating problems when trying to use powers
Control troubles: Low to no control of powers
Mental disorders: Having some mental disorder has a result of the mutation, frequent for mutant who have been "mixed" with animals
Tiredness: Getting tired easily for using certain powers

Again, you can choose any negative mutation you want, and as many as you want, but remember this will effect how you will be able to play the game. You can also add other negative effects that are not due to mutation (for example, having a short temper and frequently getting in troubles), but does will only count for 1 unless I've said otherwise.


Building a character:
Mutations are classed from level 1 to 5, depending of their strength. Positive mutations are added to your total while negative mutations are subtracted. You can choose up to 5 positive mutations and as many negative as you want, as long as the total doesn't exceed 5. You can choose only one level 5 positive mutation, unless I've allowed you to pick more.

Description: Lei is an average 12 years old girl, with wavy reddish hair and deep green eyes. Her hair are usually tied into a ponytail at the back or side of her head. She normally wears the uniform of the school, or a simple t-shirt/jogging pants and running shoes combo.
Lei is friendly and cheerful. She's not hyper, though she sometimes appear to be. She easily get lost in her thoughts and space out, which can let her seem insensitive or inattentive, which she really isn't. She is still pretty childish and love to play tricks to people. She doesn't have a good memory for people names and will often give them strange nicknames instead.
Biography: Lei was taken in the research center when she was 4 years old. She doesn't know anything about her past, except that she came from Canada, and she doesn't really care about it anyway. She has grown up being a test subject in the lab, which was that bad. She made a couple of good friends there, leading her to consider the people from the research lab like her family in some way. She is now among the first group of students to Saint-Brigit School, and hope to have some more fun there.
Other: Lei always carries a brown teddy bear with her. Always.

Minor Mutation: Hightened sense of smell
Description: Tall and scrawny, Koma dosen't look well built, but as was learned by his parents very early, looks can be decieving. He has short but sporatic black hair, and mahogany eyes. He is Eistrophobic (ice-tra-phobe-ic) (afraid of his own reflection). Usually bright, cheerful, and good-hearted.
Biography: Koma's parents, who seceeded from a nomadic human tribe after marriage, thought Koma was a blessing of nature herself when they found out his mother was pregnant. Born under a full moon, however, they found their son to be a lycanthrope, or "were-animal". His parents, deathly afraid or their son, tried desperately to hide and eliminate Koma's "gift". However, when this was found to be impossible, they cast him out of the household, attempting to erase what they believed to be a fluke in birth from their minds. When Koma found the Institue, he found a home where they accepted him for what he was. In exchange, they have tried to explain his lycanthropy by means of science, and have continually drawn up a blank. He perpetually lives on-campus because his parents refuse to accept that Koma is their son.
Koma is very loyal to his teachers and tries desperately not to disappoint. Afraid of being cast out once again, despite reassurances, he holds desperately onto what he has or can find, from lost silverware, to friends and companions.
Ever since being raised to believe he was a monstrosity to the human race, Koma has been desperately afraid of his own reflection, seeing only the beast within himself, which under profound amounts of emotional or mental stress will unleash itself in tyrannical rampages. He claims it speaks to him through "instinct", but none of the scientists have been able to prove this.
Other: His nickname "Su'Ish" was coined at the institute where when, at a very young age and encumbered with weight, could outrun a rabbit. His teachers, astonished, coined the term "Su'Ish", which means rabbit in his native language ((language based loosely on that of the Capeno Native Americans)).

Instinct stabbed at his head with thoughts of fish.
Koma aimlessly wandered the grounds, waiting for lunch. Was he supposed to be in a class right now? Koma couldn't keep his thoughts single-file with Instinct constantly pestering him.
Hungry
Was it history? Math? Koma wracked his brain, sure he was forgetting he was supposed to be somewhere. His eyes wandered to a plump bird chirping merrily in a tree. Its song called to him, eased his piercing instincts with the thought of a nice, easy snack.
Hungry
Koma shook the thoughts out of his mind. He had to be good, he promised. He'd survive a few hours till lunch...
But what was one little bird, more or less? He wouldn't hurt anything... besides the bird...
Get. The. Bird.
Koma became lost in the urge to feed. He was starving. He couldn't make it till lunch without. That. Bird.
Immediately Koma's form was lost in lush black fur that enveloped him and tripled his size. In a jolly roar he galloped for the tree, determined to satiate his stomach. With a loud crash, the tree buckled under the force of Koma ramming against it, sending the bird skittering away in terror. In a split second, the din and crunching of branches under his massive paws was over. The bird was gone.
Slightly confused, Koma rummaged through the higher branches of the snapped tree, searching with his keen sense of smell for the bird. Where did it go?

"Su'Ish!" a voice exclaimed behind him. Immediately Koma reverted back to human form, down on all fours and with a mouth full of branches. It took him a second to process that someone had been watching.

Minor Mutation: Heighted senses: equal to that of a feline

Description: During an experimentation gone wrong, Lynx's genes were combined with that of an animal in the order Felidae. It is due to this failed experiment, which the scientists discovered they were unable to reverse, that Lynx looks the way she does. She stands at about 5'4", though she often appears shorter because she often crouches. Her skin is darkly tanned, with darker stripes all over her body that resemble that of a tiger's. Her hair is unruly, long, and shaggy, hanging over her eyes and features. Its color is a mix of gold, brown, black, and red. Her eyes are reddish-gold and cat-like, with slitted pupils. She had sharp, deadly claws and fangs and long, pointed ears with tuffs at the ends. She also bears a feline-like tail, with an odd 3-clawed structure at the end. Her legs are digitigrade, like that of a cat's (she walks on her clawed toes).

Biography: Lynx is almost certain she once had a past, though after the failed genetic experiment, she finds she cannot remember it. Her memories often come in flashes and seem to haunt her. She cannot recall how long she has been at the school, only that she realizes she is one of the older children there.

Other: Lynx has been diagnosed with Schizophrenia. She would perhaps be better suited to a mental hospital, but no hospital would take her. Lynx seems to function normally anyways, though she seems a bit shy and withdrawn, so the scientists usually leave it be. She has also been put on a medication that is supposed to help her symptoms, for the safety of the other children.

It was a calm morning at the school. It only had been opened for a month now and was still pretty empty. Lei was walking on one of the paved paths surrounding the main building, enjoying the fresh spring air and the gentle sunlight, during the morning break. She was holding her teddy bear, Illya, against her chest, walking slowly and looking at the clouds in the sky, when she saw an enormous shadow racing toward a tree. Not conscious that it could be dangerous, she got closer to the "thing", only to realized that it was one of the older kid, Su'Ish, apparently hunting something in the tree.

"Su'Ish!" she called him, a large smile on her face: she had always loved bear. "What are you doing?"

The commotion also drew the attention of another student who was enjoying the beautiful day...at least that's what she appeared to be doing. Sitting beneath a nearby tree, the older girl simply known as Lynx was poking at the ground with a stick muttering to herself when suddenly a flash of black and the thundering of heavy steps along the ground caught her attention. Her tail fur fluffed out in alarm and Lynx ducked into a crouch on all fours, ready to take off running should she become threatened.

Lynx paused, her golden-red eyes glinting in the sunlight. She watched as the bear turned back into a boy and relaxed a little, her long ears flicking as she crouched under her own tree. What had the boy been doing? Another student came running out, calling out the boy's name and Lynx remained distant, watching in silence. Another day at Saint Brigit School for Monsters, Lynx thought bitterly to herself, staring down at her clawed hands in dismay.

"Uhm..." Koma felt his face get hot as he ripped the branches from his mouth and hid them behind his back. He tried to make words with the orifice on his face, but all that came out was jibberish.
"I... uh... t-tree... schoolnfrms... luncherinflipdomik..." Slow Down.
"I saw tavish in the tree... and I was hungry... and..." ((Flicker, or bird)) Koma noticed that the branches he held behind his back had been subconciously knotted into an intanglible mass. He dropped it quickly.
Say something.
"Uh... what... what are you d-doing out here?"
He was too absorbed in the foreign emotions swimming through his face to notice the gril behind them.

Lei laughed when she saw Koma getting red, not in a mean way, but like a child would do in a funny situation. "I have to meet some doctors again," she said with a large smile, like if she didn't know what that was meaning. Doctors, on the campus, were the scientists in charge of studying the kids, and meeting with them means that you would be part of their experiments, normally not really pleasant experiments.

"I hope it won't be too long..." she said, suddenly regaining her seriousness. "I want to be able to play outside with Illya today," she added, pointing at the teddy bear she was holding.

"Doctors?" Came a voice from the shade of the nearby tree. Lynx slowly climbed to her feet and moved a little towards the two other children. Her long tail flicked back and forth slowly, the 3-clawed barb at the end looking dangerous. Her long, pointed ears flicked and she blinked in the bright sunlight, her red-gold eyes reflecting the sun's glow. "Aren't you tired of seeing doctors?" Lynx looked down at the younger child, trying to search for a name. She was always horrible at names. Nothing came to her. Scowling to herself, her tail gave an irritated flick. "And what do those doctors do to you? I bet they hurt you." She growled low, but her anger wasn't directed at the girl, though it might seem that way. "They always hurt me." That was a lie. "How about you, boy?" She turned her sharp eyes to Koma. "Do they hurt you too?"

"Oh, hi Kitty! I didn't see notice you were here," Lei said, looking more surprised than afraid by Lynx. She was always giving nicknames to people, maybe because she couldn't remember their name, or just because she preferred it that way... "Doctors are not bad. They just ask me to play with toys. I love playing with my Illya," she said, petting the teddy bear's head.

"And Illya loves to play with me! Right, Illya?" At that moment, it seemed like the bear moved its head, like if it was agreeing with what was being said. "See? Illya agrees with me!" she said, like if it was the proof that she was right.

Lynx listened to the child, her ears flicking when she was called "kitty." A feline, that's what she was, even to the other students in this school. It made her feel like even more of a monster. She dropped into her animal-like crouch, her tail curling around herself, and grumbled, her long ears flicking. "They let you play with toys? I wish they'd just let me play. What was your name again?" She asked. Lynx was direct and blunt, probably due to her lack of social grace. Her tone had softened now, however, and she appeared distracted, occasionally glancing away, towards something behind her.

Character's name: Bailey Faust

Description: Lithe, skinny, lanky. Bailey stands around 5’9” and weights about 130 pounds. She keeps her hair cropped short, like a pixie cut but longer, she also has side swept bangs. Her hair is the color of honey. Her eyes are light brown, also her irises are quite large compared to her eye socket, it gives her a bit of a doe eye look all the time. She is commonly seen in jeans and tank tops, but when it’s chilly she’ll wear a sweater. Not really fond of shoes, so she wears sandals or nothing at all. Bailey is quite soft spoken, and mainly keeps to herself. When in ‘class’ she can be seen drifting off into space, and thinking about the world around her. The doctors stated that she has a “hero’s complex” for her need to help people.
Biography: Bailey remembers living with her parents until about the age that children start to go to kindergarten. Around that time her power of healing started to show up. At first no one took notice, but than her family started to receive letters about her and people really started to ask questions. The Faust’s never thought of their little girl as special, but her father was always a conspiracy theorist so he started to wonder about what the government might have done to his family. Soon enough he talked to his wife and they both decided it might be best for Bailey to respond to the letters before anything got out of hand. Thought they don’t see their daughter much anymore Mr. Faust still believes it was in Bailey’s best interest, even though his ex-wife couldn’t agree.
In summary Bailey had been being studied by the “doctors” since around the age 5.
Other: Bailey’s Familiar is a ferret. Jak is his name, and he’s a normal sized ferret if ever. He’s albino and loves raw broccoli, won’t touch the cooked stuff either. He goes where ever Bailey goes. Bailey likes to send Jak on missions to spy on the other students but it doesn’t always work since Jak is a goof ball and likes to be the center of attention, even if he is on a secret spy mission.
