{{I hope I'm not rushing it forwards too much. oAo; But ah figured she should be asleep a while at least. omgz D: Another longer post, but I guess I'm just getting her settled. Should be coo' now. c:}}

When Melody woke up she sat and looked at the time. It had been about an hour. She had no idea what time school actually started, but apparently the Headmistress was going to come and get her. She'd not been awake five minutes before there was a knock at her door. "Melody," she heard the familiar voice of G-3 outside. The door opened and she peeked around the corner. "Ah, good, you're awake. Come along and I'll give you a quick introduction to some of the staff you'll be needing to know, and then you can get ready for class. You might even get some time to meet some of the other students beforehand if we hurry." She gave a smile that Melody felt was only half sincere. This woman seemed to care...somewhat. Perhaps she was struggling between seeing them as people and seeing them as just test subjects.

She stood and willingly followed the Headmistress, politely accepting the welcomes from the doctors she saw, though the men known as Mr. X, Y and Z looked more like bodyguards. This wasn't all that strange, there had always been plenty of guards around her all her life. Still, there wasn't a single person that didn't give her the creeps. In particular a man called Dr. Reeves who seemed just a little too nice for her liking; no one behaved that way unless they had something to hide, or so was her experience. About the only normal seeming person was a young woman called Dr. Black. That wasn't to say she wasn't weird, only that in comparison to the others she seemed relatively..."normal".

Left in her room to get dressed after a friendly goodbye accompanied by another somewhat disturbingly cheery smile from G-3, Melody dressed in her uniform, upon finishing immediately covering it in little clips and badges, and keeping her black tights and fingerless gloves on. It didn't feel too bad that way. She made her way outside and sat down in the common area of the girls' dorms, sighing and staring around boredly, unable to shake the feeling there was something off about this place.

Lynx would emerge from the shower, clean and dressed in her PE clothes, but her mind was not at peace. No, instead it was getting more jumbled. It seemed her medication was wearing off. It would only be a matter of time before Dr. Jones came looking for her. He always seemed to know when her mind started to fade. It became obvious to the other two what was happening as Lynx began to talk to herself, shaking her head angrily, and simply walked to the door and left the locker room without another word to either of them.

The feline girl walked down the long hallway past the personal rooms of various girls, staring at her clawed feet as she walked. Her voice began to echo down the hallway. "No, no, NO! Stupid, stupid! Damn it, Lynx! Think! They depend on you! SHUT UP!!" A few of the girls sleeping in late muttered to themselves. It was just the crazy girl again, making noise.

She paused as she stepped into the common area, seeming puzzled on how she got there. Her red-gold eyes swept over the area, landing on the girl sitting on the couch and she just stood there, staring.

Melody was pulled out of her own thoughts when she heard shouting from down the hall. She jumped a little as it got louder. She could hear the other girls talking softly in their rooms; there were others then - she'd been beginning to think there weren't any aside from the two she's seen outside in the fog earlier that morning, the place was so quiet.

She looked up to see who it was, and to her surprise it was actually one of the girls from earlier on, the one with the feline features. She was staring at her. There was a strange silence that felt like it wasn't ever going to end, then Melody finally opened her mouth to speak.
"Um. Hel--" she was cut off by the sound of a door opening suddenly. This made her jump again. One of the girls, still looking half asleep and like she'd forgotten to brush her hair, turned and looked at the two of them, pausing for a moment before making a grunting noise followed by, "Thought it was you, Lynx." She glanced at Melody, nodded her head a little, said "Morning" and then disappeared down the stairs.

Melody turned back to the girl she'd briefly met earlier. "So, you're name's Lynx then? I guess you already know I'm Melody, because of before. Is...everything all right?"

Lynx turned her harsh gaze at the girl who spoke, snarling and baring her fangs as the other girl walked away. Moving to the second couch, Lynx leapt over the back and landed on it, peering at Melody. "Melody. Melody. You are new. No worries. You'll disappear soon enough. They all disappear after they talk to me." She yawned widely, showing off feline-like fangs. "You were here earlier. She took you away. The "principle." You met them all. You saw them all..."

Lynx leaned closer, her long ears giving a flick as she glared at Melody. Her mind screamed various things at her and she snarled. "SHUT UP!" she yelled, clutching her head in dismay, then shook it away like nothing had happened. "Melody. What is your power? What will they use of you? What will they abuse?"

Lei watched Lynx walked away, mumbling to herself. She really wanted to follow her, but she needed to change her clothes first. She grabbed her uniform and walked to one of the change room, putting on fresh clothes instead of her wet ones. She then quickly tied her hair into a ponytail and threw her wet clothes in the laundry basket on the side. The school employees would clean the clothes every other day and replaced them in the lockers of the students, ensuring they always add something to put on.

Lei grabbed Illya and exited the locker room, looking for Lynx. She met two other girls on their way to get a shower and ask them if they had seen her. The older one, a tall girl with brown hair and piercing blue eyes answered: "She was heading for th dorms or the living area, though I wouldn't go there if I were you. She's acting up again..." The two girls then resumed their walk, leaving Lei alone.

"What do you think, Illya? Should we go see what she is doing?" Lei asked to her bear. She wanted to be with Lynx 'cause she felt secure when she was close to her, but like all the other girls, she knew Lynx wasn't always safe to be with... At this moment, Illya started to move, twisting between Lei's arms to get out. Lei let her go down to the floor, watching what she was going to do. The little bear looked at her mistress. She could feel the thoughts that were running through her mind, and thought the best would be to find Lynx. She took a couple deep breath, trying to find the characteristic scent of Lynx. There it was! Illya quickly jumped, running through the hallway going to the common living area. And as always, Lei followed her. Once they got to the door of the common space, Lei heard Lynx's voice coming from one of the couches, the girl they had seen earlier sitting on another.

"Good job, Illya!" Lei said to the bear before grabbing her up. She then walked up to the two girls, not sure of what to do. She didn't want to start Lynx or do anything that could make her mad, especially in her state. She didn't really understand what Lynx was going through, but she knew it was safer for her to stay calm. After all, all kids here were mutants and they could all be quite dangerous if they were out of control. So Lei just got closer to the couch, walking normally, trying to take her breath. She was also really curious about the new girl. It wasn't everyday that she get to see new faces. Well, the last two days had been like that, but normally, there were only new students once a month or so, when the army decided that enough kids were ready to be sent to the school.

Description: Sari was always viewed as the "weird" kid--she was a quiet bookworm who never seemed to need human companionship, and although tall for her age she still had what you'd call a boyish figure. She has thick blue-black hair which is usually kept in victory rolls, pale skin, and ice-blue eyes. She normally wears the school's uniform shirt with skinny jeans rolled-up to mid-calf and sneakers without socks.
Biography: Sari was born to a single mother and never knew her father. Money had always been tight, so her mother "volunteered" to try some experimental treatments for extra cash, even up through the pregnancy. She gave birth to a seemingly normal and healthy baby girl and tried to raise her, but between all the bills and certain side-effects from the treatment she decided she'd have to give Sari up. She spent most of her early life in foster care, until a a representitive of a new "Special" school visited her and offered a place with other kids just like her. How could she refuse?

Lynx's ears gave a flick as she heard footsteps and she turned to look at Lei. She actually appeared rather surprised, blinking he red-gold eyes as she tilted her head a bit. "Lei followed Lynx?" she asked, puzzled. Frowning a bit, she reached towards the younger girl. But instead of doing anything mean or harmful, she simply scooped Lei up and set her on the couch beside her. "Lei, Lei and Illya, meet Melody. Melody, this is Lei and Illya. Lei, Lei..." She gazed down at the child with a frown. "Lei, don't disappear, okay? If Lei disappears, Lynx will find her again. I swear it."

Her words kind of faded off as she began muttering to herself, shaking her head and staring at her lap. Her mind struggled for control, but it simply something that could not gain. Not by herself anyways. As much as she hated to admit it, she needed those medications that Dr. Jones gave to her...when he gave her the right ones, that is. No, he wasn't trying to help her. He wanted to control her. Just like Dr. Reeves. And Mr. X, Y, and Z were the same way. Everyone here wanted to control her!!

Crying out, as if in pain (which was impossible for her to even feel), Lynx pulled her knees up to her chest and closed her eyes tightly. How long would it take them to see her on their cameras? And she'd be taken away from Lei and taken for studies. Why was she like this? Why was her mind so tormented? Why can't I just be normal?!

Lei was a bit surprised by Lynx's reaction, but it was a happy kind of surprise. As the feline girl introduced her, she made a little wave sign at the new girl, saying: "Hi Melody! Please to meet you!" with her nice childish smile. As Lynx told her not to disappear, she added: "Don't worry, I won't disappear!" she said cheerfully, trying to reassure Lynx. At least I hope so..., she added for herself. In fact, she felt somewhat better when she heard her saying she would find her no mater what happen. Their talk of the morning had somewhat troubled her, but it was nice to have somewhat she could trust.

She watched as the feline mutant's status seemed to get worst, looking more troubled and confused than before. The surveillance team would probably react soon, if they were not already on their way. But before Lei got a chance to do or say anything else, a voice came from the speakers embedded in the ceiling, carrying a message from the doctors. "Lei, please report to the examination room #1354. The doctors would like to meet you." The message played a second time before it stopped, which was exactly what Lei needed to understand it. When she had heard the little ring that always sounded before the message, she had thought it would be for Lynx, to tell her to go take her pills or something. Why did they want to meet her?

Must have something to do with yesterday, a part of her brain sent her. Maybe it was because she was still a kid, or because she had always lived in the test labs where every day looked the same, but she had a tendency to quickly forget some things, especially the bad ones. She sighed and looked around, like if she was expecting some guards to come and grab her. Oh, right! She was just a lifebringer, an useless mutant... She got up slowly, holding Illya against her chest as always. "Well, I guess I must go... Anyway, see you two later!" she said, trying to look happy, or at least not afraid of what could happen. She turned around and started to walk slowly. She knew the doctors didn't like it when she was late, but she still didn't want to look like if she really wanted to see them...

Sari awoke to Nova nudging her face with his nose, tickling her with his whiskers. Half-asleep, she nudged him aside and accidentally knocked the book she fell asleep reading to the floor. ~Nope, time to get up~, Nova scolded her mentally. ~They won't let you stay if you don't try to fit in, remember?~ He sat back on his haunches, balancing on the edge of her pillow. Yeah, yeah, she muttered, rubbing the sleep from her eyes and beginning her morning routine.

There were footsteps in the hallway, more than usual for this time of day. Nova jumped onto Sari's outstretched hand and scurried onto her shoulder as she cracked open the door, peering into the hall. ~No one's going to get you out here, all right? Now make with the walking before I have to get my own snacks~ She rolled her eyes and made her way down to the common room just as Lei was starting to leave.

Melody was a little worried to see the cat-girl snarl and bare her fangs at the other girl, though she hadn't thought much of it and had continued down the stairs anyway like nothing had even happened. Was this normal then? She watched Lynx leap onto the other settee beside her and stare over at her. She tried to remain calm, not wanting to show a sign of weakness, unsure of what might happen to her.
"You'll disappear soon enough. They all disappear after they talk to me."
Now she was really worried. Not least by the way Lynx had said "principle"; obviously she'd been right not to trust that woman. However... Lynx. She'd remembered the name as she'd been warned about her by the Headmistress and the doctors. She couldn't deny that Lynx was intimidating at the very least, but that sure as hell didn't mean she should trust the staff here. If it came down to it she had the feeling she'd immediately side with the strange feline girl over personnel.

Melody was jolted violently as she heard Lynx scream "SHUT UP!" A ripple of "change" moved over her skin, causing a slight wave of hair to grow for just an instant before disappearing again all the way up her body. She thought to herself that it must have been hair like that of Lynx, as she'd been, as most others would upon first meeting her she imagined, paying a lot of attention to her seemingly hybrid appearance.
She didn't know what was wrong, but suddenly the other girl had shaken it away like nothing had happened. "Melody. What is your power? What will they use of you? What will they abuse?" Clearly she'd not seen the temporary shift of skin she'd had, though her eyes had been screwed shut as she'd clutched her head, so it wasn't surprising.
"Oh, I'm... I'm a shapeshifter," she closed her eyes for a second and concentrated, shifting her form to that of Lynx. It was a little difficult - she was the first of her kind she'd ever met, so it took a moment to nail the details - but she pulled it off. Opening her eyes she spoke, using the other girl's voice, "See?"
There was a brief look of curiosity in Lynx's eyes before they were both distracted by a noise across the room. Melody looked, allowing her guise to fade so she returned to normal, to see the other girl she'd met previously. She walked over to the couch and Lynx swept her up to sit beside her before introducing her to Melody. "Lei, Lei and Illya, meet Melody. Melody, this is Lei and Illya. Lei, Lei..." She then promised the younger girl that if she were to disappear she'd find her again. This whole place was crazy.
"Hi, nice to meet you too," Melody had replied to Lei awkwardly.
She got the feeling something was wrong though, as Lynx proceeded to mumble to herself, looking down and shaking her head, seeming quite quiet for a minute or so before abruptly crying out in pain, causing Melody to jump yet again. Something was definitely wrong.
"What are...your powers, Lynx, Lei? What is it they've...'abused'?" She'd barely finished her sentence before getting interrupted by a tannoy system inbuilt into the ceiling. It was calling Lei to go and see the doctors. And so she got up and left, giving a sad smile. "Goodbye... I'll see you later?" Melody added, hoping this little mutant girl wouldn't disappear too. This place was so hectic; she never seemed to get to finish a conversation with anyone. Except when the staff talked to her.

She turned her gaze back to Lynx. "Lynx," she spoke softly, trying not to startle her, "do you need something, maybe medication? I know a few people here do. If you don't want to see the doctors, I could always go and get it for you. Hm?" She sensed another person nearby, and turned to see yet another girl who'd just gotten up. "Um...hello."

Sari leaned up against the wall and regarded the two girls carefully. She felt Nova tense up at the sight of the catgirl and dimmed the nearby lamp, further hiding him in the shade of her hair. I don't think she'll eat you, she told him. ~Nice, very reassuring.~

She gave a slight nod at the girls and uncrossed her arms. "Morning," she replied, peering across the room at Lynx. "Is she...okay?" She furrowed her brows, looking for something adequate to say to the girl huddled on the couch. "Can I get you something? A blanket, or maybe some chocolate...?" She felt bad for Lynx, thinking she probably got the worst of it from the doctors for not looking wholly human and for the mental anguish she always seemed to be in.

Lynx's ears flattened as she saw the girl turn into...her! A shapeshifter. Huh. Glancing up at the voice that echoed over the speakers, Lynx frowned deeply. Lei? What did they need Lei for? When the younger girl headed off, she stood as if to follow, but stayed where she was, looking torn. She would give Lei a few hours. If she didn't reappear...well, Lynx was prepared to tear this place apart to search for the smaller child.

Realizing Melody was speaking, Lynx looked back to her, her long ears giving a flick. "Lynx feels no pain and heals self. They call it "self-preservation." They use it against me. They study me. And Dr. Jones studies my mind. I have...a condition. I'm supposed to see him every morning for medication. I'm late. They'll come soon." She moved over to Melody, leaning down to gaze directly into her face. "You would avoid it too, if you were me. I heal. They use that. They abuse that. Nothing can hurt Lynx. Medications that could kill you won't kill me. Lynx wasn't always like this, you know. Lynx was a normal human...no feline. Gene manipulation. Poof! Now I am a monster."

The feline girl stepped back, pausing as she turned slowly towards the long hallway. "Here they come." She didn't even seem to notice the new girl poking her head out as Mr. X, Mr. Y, and Mr. Z came stomping up the stairs and bursting through the doorway. "I have to run now!" Lynx stated as she dropped into a crouch, looking wilder and wilder. But where would she run to? There were very few options. Mr. X, Y, and Z had dealt with this many times before, and they were ready. As Lynx tried to dart around one to make a break for the stairs, another grabbed her around the waist and lifted her up. The other two quickly came to bind her wrists together and to bind her clawed feet and tail together as well. All the while Lynx screamed, much like a mountain lion would, and thrashed and struggled. "NOOOOO! NOOO, Lynx not want to go! NO, NO, NO!! Put Lynx down!!" And would continue to wail in vain as she was taken back down the stairs and across the campus towards the experimentation building.

Sari barely finished her question before the doctors barged in, dragging Lynx away like some feral monster. She knew better than to follow or interfere, but the event evoked terrible memories from her childhood--she squeezed her eyes shut and the entire room was thrown into darkness.

~Careful, now,~ Nova warned. Her fists clenched in anger with her reply. It's not fair--we're not things, we're people! She took a deep breath and after a few moments the lights flickered back to life. Sari remembered that there was still someone in the room and shuffled her foot in embarrassment. "Sorry, I um..."

((Lol finally some action! BTW, I added some little details to the NPCs, including G-4 and G-5 profiles, if you want to check them. And, since I've done that with the other players, the newbies will also have the right to create their own little NPC if they want. Only one per person, since we already have some, and they can be used by every one after you created them. They can be doctors, or anything else, as long as they have a good reason to be at the school. No kids. Just PM me if you want to add yours.))

Lei had already exited the building when Lynx was caught, which was probably a good thing, because hearing Lynx screamed would probably have troubled her more than she needed. She walked along the paved path to the closest door of the labs and entered quickly. The rain was worst than before and the sky was of a deep grey color. Lei followed the hallway, checking for the good number. All the rooms of the school had a number above the door, allowing an easier identification. The first number meant the floor they were on, the second was the hallway number, and the two last served to identify the rooms from others around. 1350... 1352... 1354. Here we go! Lei took a deep breath and knocked at the door.

The Dr. Black opened the door, as always when Lei had to go for a check-up. She was wearing the same clothes and had the same look she always had. "Hi, Lei! Come in!" the doctor said, moving to the side of the door to let the girl enter. The room was the same too, with the special chair for her and the stool for the doctor, a flat-screen T.V. and a table against one wall, all windows closed... Maybe it wasn't about yesterday finally, Lei thought, a small light of hope suddenly shining in her heart. She didn't like the experiment, but she really feared it would get worst after the little incident of yesterday. "Just sit on the chair. We need to talk before we start." The little light of hope suddenly vanished. Talking with the doctors was rarely a good thing. Lei sat on he chair, holding Illya tight against her chest.

"So Lei," the doctor said as she sat on the stool, taking a file of papers placed on the table and looking through them, "do you remember what happen yesterday?" Lei made a small negation sign with her head. She remembered the examination, but after that, it was a complete black-out. The doctor didn't show any sign of surprise and just continued to talk. "We had a little problem yesterday during the experimentation. You know, something with your bear?" she said, checking if Lei was really telling the truth or if she was telling that she didn't remember so that they leaved her alone. But Lei looked normal, a bit surprised by the questions, but she didn't looked like she was lying. "You're sure you don't remember anything?" Again, Lei just said "No.", wondering why the doctor was insisting so much. The woman wrote something on the sheet she was reading and placed the file back on the table. "Ok, then I'll just pass you a little check-up before I let you go. Just come with me."

She exited the room, making sure to take the file before she left, the little girl following her. They walked in the hall, turning a corner, until they get to the normal check-up room. They were almost like normal physician office, with a medical table you can laid onto, shelves full of medical tools. "Don't worry, it's just a normal exam. We just want to make sure you're ok."

After thirty minutes of "open your mouth, stretch your arm, take a deep breath," and other common tests, the doctor told Lei she could returned to the school. Lei quickly exited the room and ran outside, wondering what could have happened during the night. It was never Dr. Black who passed her her monthly health exam, just some guy she could never remember the name. Plus, the last time she had seen the female doctor, she looked so afraid of her, or maybe of Illya, and today she was acting normally, like if nothing had happened. Maybe she's a robot? a little part of her brain said, which made Lei explode in a loud laugh. All the stress of the morning and the negative thoughts she had had were suddenly gone with that sudden burst of fun. The little girl quickly ran back to the school, wet once again because of the rain. She walked back to the locker room and grabbed the second uniform in her locker, quickly drying herself and putting it on. She then exit the room and went on a search for Lynx or Melody, or any other friendly faces she could met, a large smile on her face, Illya holding her hand.

The girl across the room nodded to Melody and Lynx and said, "Morning," then looked over to Lynx, inquiring if she was okay and offering some help. Lynx remained quiet for a moment, then turned to Melody and answered her previous question.

She listened closely to Lynx as she explained her powers and what the doctors had done to her. She couldn't help but feel sorry for her. "Lynx, you're far from a monster, you shouldn't believe that. I've seen some mutants who are much more strange looking and even they still retain some of their humanity..." suddenly a thought sprung into her mind. "Wait, do the doctors ever tell you that you're a monster? If that's where you're getting it from, you should ignore them... I don't trust them." She lowered her head a little, then regretted saying that in front of all the cameras. "But then, I move around a lot, so it's hard to trust people for me," she added, hoping this would shake them off a little.

For a moment she thought she saw a glimmer of hope in Lynx's eyes, but then she turned from her to look down the hallway. "Here they come."
Melody watched as the men she'd been introduced to as Mr. X, Y, and Z burst through the doorway. "I have to run now!" Lynx stated as she dropped into a crouch, looking wilder and wilder.
Melody felt her heart jump up into her throat. Were they going to fight one another? As Lynx made an attempt to escape, managing to dodge one of the men, another grabbed a hold of her and the other two bound her wrists, feet and tail so she couldn't fight them. Lynx didn't stop screaming, almost roaring like a wild animal as she thrashed around desperately. Melody felt every scream go right through her, chilling her to the bone. She'd seen some horrible things living in the labs all her life, but this was...surreal. She was used to this behaviour in a high security lab, but out in the open in such a normal setting...it was disturbing; like bringing two very different worlds together that were never meant to be - worlds that in her mind had always been miles apart. To think she'd almost been excited to get to come to a more "normal" place. But really, it was just the same underneath it all. The only difference in this place was that they tried to hide it all behind a "normal" exterior. That somehow made the whole thing a lot more scary; at least she knew where she stood back in the labs, but here?

She noticed the other girl across the room seemed to be struggling with something. She'd squeezed her eyes shut and clenched her fists. She paused and took a deep breath and after a few moments shuffled her foot in embarrassment. "Sorry, I um..."
"No, no," Melody stopped her, "really it's okay. Everyone has their own stuff to deal with... That wasn't exactly a pleasant scene just now. Oh, I'm Melody, by the way... I'm sort of new here." She gave the best smile she could after what had happened as the other girl introduced herself in return. As per usual though before much could be discussed properly they were interrupted, and to Melody's surprise this time it was her that was being called off. The tannoy had sounded again, "Melody, please report to the examination room #1325 for your physical examination." They repeated it once more as they did will all announcements.
"What? But Smith gave them my files this morning, including the report for the check up I had last night!" She cursed and sighed, standing up slowly. She looked over to Sari. "I guess we have to cut this short. I hope I see you later or something..." she silently wondered if she was coming back. Maybe this was about her comment on not trusting them.

Melody began to make her way over to the Laboratory building, then she saw Lei walking in her direction. She felt relived that she was all right. "Oh, Lei. They're done with you? They just called me to go a get a check up... I only had one yesterday, but I guess the doctors here want to do their own or...something."
