| Right now I'd like something, uh, what's the word, alive? Yes, that would be nice...
But seriously, I prefer action-based game. Nothing against emotions, but I just don't really like them being at the center of a plot, you know?
I generally prefer fantasy, or at least something with a little fantasy in it...
And I have a bunch of games laying dead in the forums that could be reused (or at least some of the plot and setting), if any of them interests you. I was thinking about making small group role-plays with some of them (this one, mainly, and also maybe this one, and that thing).

| Monster Academy!
I loved that role-play!
I was dropped, but I deserved it. I wanna Necro that one! We shall resurrect it and it will be amazing!
I have some new mutant ideas, and it will be awesome. We should use tyhe same forum but start over. Because I have no idea what happened after I was booted.

| You mean the monster or mutant academy? 'cause the mutant was the one you were a part of, right?
The mutant's been moved (and somewhat rewritten) here... sorta... I'd need to post something to bring it back to life while some people are around, and review the plot to remember what it was, and probably (re)write a good part of it anyway... and do some time jump thing to reset everything. The OOC is here, if you want to chat about it (and I guess I should go post in it too).
I always wanted to restart the monster academy too. Never really happened because of the work it needed, and I was starting to wonder if it wouldn't be better to start with a small group game (3-4 players), earlier in the history of the Academy, and have those characters discover the world and creatures while travelling for some reason or another. Like that I wouldn't have to spend hours rewriting and replacing everything, which I don,t really feel like doing if nobody's gonna join and play actively. BUt yeah, I need to think about that one...

| Oh! LAWL I didn't know there was a difference. Cool lemme read up on this other one and we'll see what we can do ;D
Edit:
It looks interesting. I'm not sure I understand why it's called the monstrous academy yet, but I'm definitely interested based on the first dozen posts or so.

| Argh, sorry for not answering sooner, I sorta got sick and didn't really feel like coming online for a few days
But I'm getting better now, so...
Hm, I'm guessing the monsters didn't appear in the first few posts. *pokes naga and other thingies* that and I'm not the best person to name a game XD
Basically, the game allowed players to team up with monster-ish creatures, sorta like Pokemon, but with more mythological/classical fantasy creatures. The OOC thread is here, and that old Encyclopedia thing that will need some rewriting, if you want to check them.
Hm, I'll try to think of a way to restart this... Need to find some starting point first...

| Wait... so is it a game or a role-play?
Games are fun, but just not as long-term as a role-play is...

| Ah. Alrite. So I didn't notice any rules/restrictions on the kind of monsters we could be/use in the game/rp (which is shorter than both game and role-play :3).
I happen to have a repetoire of mysterious/magical anomalies that could more or less be more or less overpowered than what we'd like to use. Some examples of what's acceptable and what's not would be appreciated.
(For example, are your Naga more like pure-blood Yuan-Ti (Literally super-intelligent snakes) or Yuan-Ti abominations (Snakes with arms or people with characteristically snake-like features)?)
[If that was a bit too in-depth for what you had in mind, then maybe you should just give me a breakdown of what kinds of creatures would be acceptable]
{Regional mythology as a focus would be a great place to start. It does make a huge difference}

Ugh, where did that description go? Ah, here it is: my little naga description + race description. So my naga seems to be more like a pure-bred Yuan-Ti, although the abominations also exist... or something like that.
Hm, let's see if I remember well (the rp/game thing was created with other people (who disappeared), and I'm too lazy/tired to read the OOC right now). Basically, the world in which the school/academy exists is sort of a central plane. Around it, many other planes exist (not really accessible, simple scientific explanation thingy). Some of those correspond to the mythological/imaginery realm of human beings, and others... well, they can be whatever you like.
So anyway, the world of the Academy has a strange ability to generate portals toward other worlds... or they just generate themselves and for some reason they appear in that world. Through time, many creatures crossed those portals, willingly or not. Some did not survive (fell in the wrong region, etc.), but others did. They multiplied, fought each others, grouped together, whatever. Some (more intelligent/friendly) learned to live alongside the small human population and work with them.
Which leads to the conclusion that pretty much everything is acceptable (at least from what I can guess from the list we had (cyclops, demons, giant cats, etc.)). Of course, not everything is acceptable as a "pet" for the student, although I guess I'll have to rework the leveling system a bit to make it easier to understand. Some monsters are just too dangerous or not cooperative enough for that. But that doesn't mean they can be roaming around and waiting for their daily human snack.

| All righty cool. I can work with this.
Last question, how many characters can I use?
I have ideas.
One last comment, maybe in the profiles it would good to have major and minor powers. That way people have a good idea of what they are getting up with before the role-play starts.
(It would prevent people from pulling powers out of nowhere in fights and would also help people gauge how powerful their characters are in comparison to other peoples to ensure that things are balanced)
For example, Sitha's minor powers would probably be her reptilian dexterity and her mastery over her scimitars. Nagas and Yuan-Ti typically have something like psionic (mind) powers or even petrification as a major power. Even a particularly debilitating poison would make a good major power.

| I generally go with a "as many as you can handle" rule. Like, 3 or 4 at max seems fine, excluding possible NPCs and other not so important/ very time-limited characters.
Yeah, I think the monster where classed by levels (like "beginner", "intermediate", "advanced", "gonna kill you", etc.) and elements or something like that, which sorta determined the kind of magical (and some general) abilities they had. It wasn't really well-developed though, as far as I can remember...
Major and minor powers would probably be much easier to understand from the start.
