its so that you cant receive new weapons, and healing items, whilst youre in the middle of a battle, i think.

Yeah, you can't even go to the shop either, if you try it takes you back to the battle. It makes it more fair I think.
Would you be shopping while fighting a dragon? I didn't think so... LOL
