This will hopefully revive an interesting role play. The posts will be in quote boxes until we've reached the current stopping point. Afterwards we'll post as we please.

Tam sighed. It was getting late, and neither of her cats had returned from their nightly foray. She wasn't worried, just yet. Outside of the random foxes or raccoons that sometimes skulked around the neighborhood, there wasn't anything that she could think of that would threaten her pets. The book she had been reading was no longer holding her attention.

The woman rose from the couch and set her book aside. She might as well get ready for bed. Greymalkin and Shrodinger would let her know when they returned. She went upstairs to her bedroom. She changed into a pair of navy pajama pants and a black tank top. Her black hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail. Afterwards, she went to the kitchen for a drink. She hoped her cats would come soon. She was getting tired.

Squee, the self-named FIS-2143 m-f, slid under the opening of the garage door. The house was quiet, and he hadn't seen any signs of life... Then again, he didn't have the best vision. His companion was quiet behind him and merely followed, not quite mentally capable enough to point out that it had seen movement inside. Both of them looked around, and Squee led his partner behind some boxes that he saw, hiding from the large door, but not from any other direction. He couldn't see the smaller door that led inside.

Some time after the two had entered the garage a pair of cats entered the enclosed space. They were curious to know what was hiding in their domain. They sat nearby, gazing curiously at the pair. The smaller of the two approached the two hiding figures, whiskers twitching. It meowed curiously at the boy. The larger one seemed to decide not to care and moved to another spot in the garage.

It meowed loudly, as if calling for someone. Nothing seemed to happen. Even when the other cat left the duo to yowl as well. Suddenly a light went on, giving the pair a clear view of the sparsly cluttered room. And the other door that led into the house. The door opened to reveal a woman in her mid to late twenties. She didn't notice the pair at first, occupied with the cats at her feet.

Tam scratched her two cats behind the ears. One was a large black feline. The other was a gray and black striped tabby. "Alright you two, get inside," she grinned. The woman stood up straight when the cats hurried in. In doing so, her eye was caught by something out of place. She turned to look, spying the pair. She stared for a moment, as if she were unsure as to what she was seeing. Then, her eyes widened. "Oh, holy snap," she murmured in shock.

The two stared at her, one with keen eyes, one with those of a fish. The fish-eyed one was bald of all hair. He had no scales visible on him but had webbed fingers and toes. His ears were fins with a hole at the base where they linked to his head. His eyelids were transparent as he blinked, and his nose didn't come to a point, rather it was not there-- simply two nostrils poked into his face. His upper lip formed a point in the center. Squee wore a hospital gown and a tag on his ear.

Beside him, staring dumbly with keen eyes was a strange creation. A mix of human, goat, and bird. The eyes of a bird stared at her, while little horns poked from the creature's stubbly head of hair. Fur grew from the back of its hands, wrapping around the wrists, then climbing the outside of the arm a few inches. Hobbit-hair on the feet was also visible, and a few feathers grew from its chest and neck, like a bird's chest. A similar hospital gown covered it, and a tag with MIX 241 n/a adorned its ear.

Tam found herself more shocked that someone had broken into her garage, than at the fact that neither one looked human. Thought, that point eventually hit her like a ton of bricks, shot out of a cannon. There are... THINGS in my garage, she heard herself think. She was amazed that the two interlopers hadn't heard the rather loud thought. She had to have been asleep. But the feel of the cool cement beneath her feet let her know otherwise.

"Uh," her brain went on strike. Her body wanted to run and get a weapon. But her feet decided that they were going to stay still just to spite her. Though, her mouth decided that intruductions of some sort were in order. "I-if you promise not to eat my brains, uh or steal my skin, I won't call the cops."

Great, Tam. You're first introduction with a non human, and you blow it by looking like a paranoid freak. Good job.

The more sensory one just watched her, tilting its head to a humanly impossible angle, moving forward as it did. Its eyes stared at her, almost into her soul as it rotated its head.

Fish boy slowly stood and walked toward her as he had seen the scientists do and held out his hand. "Squee." he introduced timidly, looking up at her, as though trying to make eye contact. He seemed puzzled by her strange offer. "Cookie?" he asked.

Tam's neck hurt just watching the one creature rotate its' head. She was sorely tempted to tilt her head in respose, but she didn't want to be insulting. The look it gave her wasn't exactly a nice one either. But who could tell what it meant? Man, don't eat me. I don't think I taste very good. Words failed her that time. It was probably for the best.

The other one came uncomfortably close. But it wasn't doing anything threatening, or was it? Tam refused to move, for fear of startling whatever the small thing was. Its' minute hand held out to her, it made a funny sound. She blinked. Was it trying to introduce itself? She hoped her hunch was right and held out her larger hand. The webbed hand disappeard into hers. And then it asked for a cookie. What?

"Uh, I'm Tamara, er Tam, if that's easier to remember," the woman replied. She turned to look behind herself, in the direction of the kitchen. "I don't know if I have any cookies." She looked back at the boy, fish, thing. "Uh, do you want to come in?"

Squee looked up at her and tilted his head, then scampered past her to look inside. He made a little sound of surprise at what he saw inside, then went inside without need for any more invitation. When he encountered carpet, he laid down and rubbed it with one hand, amazed.

Squee's cohort followed him in past the woman at the door, then just stared down at the carpet. It hadn't experienced anything like it either. It was rough, but soft, and the creature wasn't sure if it liked that combination. The combination was far too complex.

Tam watched the pair of mixed things enter the main living area. She nearly told them to stop, but they halted themselves when they reached the carpet. With a slightly confuused sigh, she followed them in and shut the garage door.

Her home wasn't huge, but it was big enough for her. Downstairs consisted of a living/dining area, the kitchen, a small bathroom, a closet that held a washer/dryer machine, and a set of stairs that led to the second floor. Upstairs held two large bedrooms and a decent sized bathroom.

She walked up beside the fish child thing. "I guess you've never seen a carpet before, have you?" She inquired.

The little boy shook his head, looking up at her as his small hands grabbed at the carpet, admiring how it was both soft and rough at the same time. The bits of carpet pushed up on his webbing, making it bulge and the boy giggle.

The other creature frowned down at the carpet angrily. Clawed hands looked ready to attack it, as if the carpet could move and try to eat him.

"It's really nothing amazing. It's just a carpet." She replied. Tam then noticed the other creature's reaction. "Please, settle down. It's not going to hurt you. It's not alive. Really." This was going to be difficult. A distraction was probably in order.

"Um, are you hungry?" The fish had asked for a cookie. Maybe it wanted a snack? What did they eat? Not fish, obviously, but could they eat meat? Or dairy? Where did they come from? Why were they in her garage?

Both looked at her, and the fish jumped up, then did a hand stand. The other stood on one foot. Both waited, watching her, as though waiting for rewards. It wasn't long before the birdbrain fell over. It was a few more long awkward seconds before fish-face fell over. Both looked at her, seeming to despair at not being rewarded right away.

Tam was taken aback. She had asked if they were hungry and they ... did tricks? The confused woman watched for a moment. Then the two fell. The look they gave her looked just as confused as she felt. Oh snap. She realized they didn't move from their tricks because they had expected her to give them a treat for doing a trick.

"I'm sorry," Tam apologized. "I didn't, I mean, ugh." She shook her head, then looked back at the children. "Come on. I'll get you two something." She turned and motioned for them to follow her. She walked around the corner to where the kitchen was. It's too late for this, she sighed. "What do you guys like?"

Both chirped "Cookies!" in excited voices, hurrying to follow her. It didn't take the dumb one much to link "like" in a question tone to cookie. The fish boy looked about to wet himself in excitement, complete with dance. Meanwhile, birdy was staring intently at the human woman they'd invaded the home of, waiting for a cookie.

And the topic turned back to cookies. Tam hoped she could deliver, as she poked around her cupboards. She found a box of oreos in with her cereals, which came as a bit of surprise. Had she remembered that she had them, she would have eaten them a long time ago. She pulled the box out of the cupboard and opened the cardboard container. "Do you guys like milk with your cookies?" Then she turned to see the two's reactions. Cookies first, milk second.

Tam took out a few cookies for each of them. She felt that she deserved a cookie for not freaking out. Or to keep from freaking out. She handed each child three oreos. Then, she put the box on the table. Holding an oreo in her teeth, she grabbed the jug of milk from her fridge and poured out a glass for herself, and a smaller cup for the newcomers. Drinks and carton were placed on the table, where she sat down.
