Hello all! I'm sure quite a few of you on here have heard of Gaia. I've been there since 2005 and have enjoyed it, but after so long.... it's nice to have a change in scenery If any of you knew me on there, please feel free to PM me :-D My username on there is the same as this one. Anywho, enough about that. I'm looking forward to learning more about this community and, hopefully, being able to establish myself in some useful way to the site haha.

Nah, i think that's bs. Gaia has been ripping it's own items off since the begining. Expecting them to do any differantly is not fair. Also i wouldn't say the quality of the donation items is dropping, it's just that the quality of all the other items has increased so much it's comparatively lower. I mean picolitrosso's urn vs any of the donation items since 05 pico wins. (in my oppinion)

It's just that they're not "special" anymore. *shrugs* The new donation items arn't any lower quality then before. Infact in many cases the art is better quality, even if the ideas arn't as fresh.

But that doesn't stop me loving a number of the 04 items. That was a good year for mcs. Other then that there are three or four items from each year i like alot. : )

But yeah, feel free to look me up on gaia. : )

You're right that the evolution items really raised the bar, but even with that said, I think the monthly collectible items have really slipped. Consider what the recent items have been: techno-mage and spring nymph. Both great concepts, but when you see the poses ... it's almost a complete waste (though I have to admit that this month's items have been the best of the year so far.) Plus, monthly collectibles still only come in a very limited number of poses/forms. You can't get an evolution item in its final form without having the choice of a bajillion different poses/forms The art quality is definitely improving, but I feel the "ideas" aren't as interesting; they limit how good an item is based on how much it will cost in the cash shop. Maybe if monthly collectibles were $5-$10 each they would focus more attention on them

Cha, 2004 is my favorite year for donation items/monthly collectibles on Gaia ^^ There aren't many items from that year that I don't like.

I actually really liked a number of spring nymph poses. (the hair is so much win i could dance!)

But your right about the technomage, it sucked. Alot!

And i don't think the comment about the number of poses is fair. I honestly think more poses would be a really BAD idea. I mean most of the "classic" donation items are 1-2 poses and are still just as popular and loved by most. :3

I mean evolving items will cost $5-10USD, per evolution for 5-13 evolutions. That's $25-130 per item. So i understand them putting alot more effort into those items.

I don't spend real money on gaia though, so i guess i look at it differantly. I buy everything with gold. 8D Aquariums has been such a huge gold sink for me. But i luff zee fishies. <3

I just want my Ports (and maby a corsage. ;D), then i will be happy.

Yeah, I was resisting the evolving items too, but they have such good poses... I caved I have like... 20 or 30 of them now Never thought I'd even own one, heh.

aww well, lessons learned lol. Don't sell your items no matter what!

@heyy - Oh cool :-D I used to commission art all the time. But, I don't really do anything with the art, so I stopped I used to run tons of different threads, so I could implement the art into the thread's layout, but once I became less active and stopped running things, the art just collected dust in a folder on my computer

Yeah, I liked the poses for the nymph as well. Your argument for the evolution items being more expensive makes sense. I suppose I should cut them some slack

I spend money on Gaia here and there, but it's pretty rare. I only do that when there's an item in the cash shop that's maybe $5 but selling in the market for 500,000. In cases like that, I'd rather spend my $5 rather than waste hours of my time making that gold.

haha the aquariums are amazing, but yeah... it's a total gold sink Spend 200,000 on an aquarium full of fish just to see them die in a few weeks lol.

Mmmm ports :-D I think that's the most popular '03 item on Gaia now. Luckily they sell pretty often, so when you get the gold they'll be there for you to snatch them up ^^ I've always been a bit "meh" about the corsage. A friend of mine quested for about a year and finally got one, but you can hardly ever tell if someone is wearing one It's like I have to force myself to be amazing at the little red spec haha.

I have a gallery of my received art, though it hasn't been updated in ages. I Just love to have and look at all the stuff i've commished. <333 I have about 200 completed art of my various avis on my computer. Unfortunatly that's all recent (since 0 since i had a mass loss of files before that and lost almost all my other art. Dx

It's just like $2.5 vs even the smallest ammount at $25 is a HUGE differance. Gaia is a corporation and has alot of fees, it has to cover costs and yet still spit out a profit for the big wigs at the end.

I just wait for it to come down and then buy it with gold. xD I'm just a non money spender on gaia. :3

There are lots of fishies now that last almost half a year so you don't have to worry about that so much anymore. :3 But yeah, i likes the winter snow globes. <3 They only last 4 weeks though so i've been stocking up on them. xD;;

Ports? Most popular 03 item? Your kidding right? Most people don't know what ports are, let alone want them. They're for sale all the time because not many people do want them! xD

Most people want DJs, d-tails, sashes or halos. Ports are pretty unremarkable to most. But i luff them. But as you said both them and the corsage are pretty hard to notice in alot of outfits. But that's one of the reasons i like them. Understated awsomeness. Also the corsage pic in your inventory is AWSOME, so i'll buy it if just to look at there. ;D

Ports and Winged anklets are the only donation items i've really wanted ever since i first saw them. So ports are coming. <3 (since i've had my wingies for awhile)

Yeah, it is fun to look at ^^ I went through a "homygosh art art arttttt" phase back in 2006. I don't think I got quite to 200 pieces, but I had quite a few. My favorite artist was Keiii. She was AMAZING. I haven't heard from her in ages though; not sure if she still comes around. She became a mod a while back and became a bit distant after that

I totally understand the economics of their system *nod*, just wish monthly collectibles would gain their status back.

Wow, fish that last that long? That's great! That would make it a lot easier to get into the aquarium scene :-) And yeah, I hear ya; the winter snow gloves are great :-D

lol I'm wrong about ports? I haven't been around the Exchange much until recently (last few weeks). From the posts that I saw from other users, I saw lots of praise and "i neeeeeedddddd ports!" Back in the day no one ever seemed to want ports except for those like you who have a unique fascination with them. I just figured that all the attention I've been seeing directed towards them meant something had changed. Seems like devil tails are just a bartering item that is necessary for getting more valuable items these days, but my lurking could be fooling me lol. haha I can just see you staring at the rose in your inventory for hours on end And I guess if you want people to notice it, you could wear a pure white outfit and then throw the rose on. It'd stick out like a sore thumb that way haha.

And yet if you did that (all white outfit with a corsage) it wouldn't be as big of a "hack me" sign as those frikken chuck norris scarves. Whenever i wear my red scarf i get lots of people trying to scam/misslead/find out my details, when i wear wingies, pengies or any number of other items htat are worth more i rarely get a second glance. *shrugs*

Yeah i'm one of those people in the exchange at times. xD;; But notice none of said people actually BUY the ports. They allways have something else they're spending the money on. ;D

They're about 40mill and have been for the last 2 years. They have a pretty steady price which i enjoy. : )

Your right about the d-tail. It's mostly a barter item, but good for that none the less. Also if you show a newb a d-tail they just about explode. You show them ports and they wtf at you. Hell! 90% of the time when i mention ports people have no idea what i'm talking about. It isn't a verry publicised item out side of the neiche of people that love it. :3

They never will, not unless something about them is "special" again. Which isn't likely to happen. They're just another cash shop item. *shrugs*

That really sucks. xP My favourite artists i don't have any art from because they not on gaia and i don't have the real money to spend on commishing them. xD;; If they would even take a commish from me that is. <333
