To become male, go to your avatar, go under 'Base' and chose the ones with little M's for males, F's are for females xD
For the name thing, You'll have to talk to a mod or admin to fix that, sorry I can't help ^^'

Also - the name you are using when you try to create a character may already be taken, have you tried something else?
(and also you need a character to access the shops)
