I fear no biting. None. I'm all up to date on my shots and everything.
As for other people's senses of fashion, I've never understood why people have felt the need to police other people's expression like that? Like yeah, there are limits but as a whole I find the standards set by media/culture a bit ridiculous. I don't feel it's my place to judge what other people wear, I guess.

Amen xD
I was walking down the street at night with two of my friends. I was dressed noramly for me, which is a bit nice, while my girl friend was pretty casual or tomboyish, and my guy friend is punk. He's got the mohawk, vest with things sewn on it, vans, the works. He's an awesome guy, but if you didn't knkow him you may be a bit intimidated. I walked into my workplace (a gelato shop) to buy him some as a belated birthday gift, and you should have seen the judgement and confusion on their faces. My boss was surprised to see he was my friend because we looked so different. Isn't that silly? xD

Your friend sounds awesome. Like really, really awesome. I wish I could dress like that but I'm very self conscious.

Same here, it took me forever to become comfortable wearing what I want. I'm still very concious of that stiff, I'm slowly growing to care less and less, and it's really nice. Especially when you're away from acquatinances and strangers who think they know you and are confused when you try something new :P

Yep, yep, I understand. Also I'll be honest, a lot of it's just the money too. I am but a poor girl so most fashion is beyond my reach, especially since I'm really short so everything fits sorta weird. I really mean to pick sewing back up so I can start making/modifying clothes but I lack the time an d space. And money.

The good thing about sewing is that it's pretty simple to pick up the basics! Sewing machines are expensive though, I'm lucky my mom has one and helps me with that kind of alterations ^^
Have you tried hand sewing anything?

Hand sewing is a great skill to have. I wouldn't want to sew anything big with it, but you can use it to repair rips, hem pants if you need to. And, you can make stuffed animals and dolls and things by hand.

Well, I now how to hand sew and use a sewing machine(I learned many years ago in the Girl Scouts) and I enjoy it a lot. My mom even got me a sewing machine for my birthday last year. Mostly I just don't have the supplies or time these days. I'm graduating from high school like next week and have been super pressed to get things done. Add having like no thread or fabric and no ideas on how to start modding my clothes and you get one wistful dragon talking big game on really learning to sew and getting into it and not being able really follow through. The same thing is happening with crocheting and knitting.

I understand completely what you mean, lexi, like. I don't want to ruin anything and waste all that time even though I know that the practice alone is worth it. It's this unfortunate loop of 'i need to practice sewing, i'll ruin anything i try to sew i'm not good enough, i need to practice to get better, i'm not good enough' all the way down

and congrats, Kacey!

Well I wish you luck then! Hopefully I'll dig up the courage and energy to start remastering my stitches, my hands have gotten pretty shaky since then.
Honestly it'll probably be good for my art, hand control and all that.....

Ooooh, I have a sewing machine I bought myself last Christmas xP Kinda an expensive purchase for me to be beating around the bushes ya know? I've never been a fan of hand sewing, I'm much much much too impatient for that lol.

So anyways what kind of art do you do?

I have a sewing machine too but I learned to sew by hand, actually with embroidery, so it feels right to start there again, y'know? And there's the fact that my sewing machine is buried in a room I can't get to so easily right now, so

Anyway, I'm actually mostly a writer but I've been investing a lot of time in digital art right now. I've always liked sketching and stuff so mostly it's just foundational improvement stuff right now. I'm also doing a lot of character design stuff for a webcomic I'm coauthoring with my boyfriend, as well as my other stories.
