Shop Map, not listing?

Well, I wanted to make a little suggestion regarding the Shops.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a nice little isometric map done and have it used as the Shop directory?

I hate referencing to other avatar sites, but Roliana does have a very nice map for their shops. I think it's much more appealing than a simple table. :3

Personally, I think we could wait to do this, while the finish other aspects of the site, then worry about how the shops look.

I prefer the list, it's easier to know which shop is which, the map is done a lot, and I always had trouble knowing what shirt was where, and things like that.

Plus, a map would be harder for Cat or Hey to do, while they're already pretty busy with stuff (on a normal basis, not counting the event work) :/

But that's just my preference.

Hmm... Oh! But what if there was, like, a little directory board you could click on to view a list of the shops? So you can have the same functionality when sought after, but it's still aesthetically pleasing upon first glance. :D

Chyaa, but that's why Cat brought me on as a pixelist today. She just hasn't put the special rank under my username yet. :3

I'll most likely be doing the shop images, but I dunno' quite yet. XD

Oh yeah, it's not even a phpBB Mod that would create it.

Basically it's just one big image and you use HTML to create specific areas become links. It's called an Image Map, and it's pretty easy to write. Like, once the art was made, it would take less than half an hour to write the thing.

If I recorded the points necessary to make the links, all of 5 minutes would need to be invested into the code to have it fully functioning. :3

Actually my Paint Shop can do it automatically, it has a special feature built in just for it. :D
I love making image maps. <3

But I do not believe we will have an Isometric map. Not anytime soon anyway.. But I will be revamping the shop layout once all of the icons are made.

I dunno...I'd personally think we should come up with a more original and unique way of displaying our shops rather than doing what another site is. >w>
Especially if the other site is Roliana. >w>

Cause honestly I don't want them using ANYTHING as an excuse to copy or use "similar" ideas to ours for anything anymore. And having this, could most probably provide a reason for them. >w>

Menewsha uses a shop Map feature, a much better map feature(imo) then Roli.
But thats just me.

Though I've always wanted a Map feature.
Even before Roli got one. So why should we be forced to do something different? Why can't we have a map feature? Who cares if 2 other avatar sites have one?

I think a map could be nice, as long as it's clear and you can easily find the place where you want to go. I don't think it's one of the first thing that needs to be done, but it could be nice to have one someday.

I don't really care if another avatar site as one too, I mean, all avatar sites have a lot of things in common anyway, so one more wouldn't be a problem, right?

The problems I have with a map feature would be that one, in my opinion, they look low-quality and tacky a lot of the time, and two, they're not as easy to navigate as intended.

Actually just draw the town map and with dreamweaver(4, MX, 8, or CS3 8D) I can draw the mapped area's and create links with them

All you need then is a basic page with the template on it(the site nav bars and the headers) and just throw the code into the middle!

That would be a GREAT idea for the shop =3

A little town map on it with clickable shops! oh boy, you could do hover link things to, where if you hover over a shop, a little box with a 75x75 avatar(of the NPC) could come up with a tiny description, or heck just the name!
