| Err what? That's like saying "Don't pick on her for robbing the conveniance store! Thousands of people rob conveniance stores! Why are you zeroing in on her and charging her with theft, that's unfair?!"
>__>;;
I confront it as it comes up, and in this case it's certain she is committing art theft. I'm an artist myself, i want to protect other people's work. Doing that isn't ok, she has to realise this. Anyways, you learn little tracing other's work, it's better to do it on your own.
Any justification that involves but everyone else does it too is not any kind of justification at all. I understand she's your friend but it's not fucking ok to do that.
It makes it worse that she's been doing commishies other places and is trying to do them here. At the verry least she should not sell any art that isn't 100% her work, and should ALLWAYS list referances.

| Now, who says I sell my work? I do this for fun and to make people happy. I don't do it to say ok, gimme 50 million of your hard earned gold or whatever currency. I don' t have a shop any where as I don't have the time to do it and I'm not out to impress anyone either. I draw because its fun and if I see a pose I like, yeah I'm gonna use it. You see an outfit you see someone else wear and if you like it your gonna wear it to.

| There is a differance between useing referances (and most people list referances too) and tracing/eyeballing. This is art theft. Your taking someone else's art and claiming it as your own, no matter how you look at that it's not fucking ok. Refs are fine but out right copying and then claiming it as your own work is just rediculous!
Draw things on your own merit. Don't steal and try to bask in the glory of others. Everyone has to start somewhere, but you should be doing your own work.

| Your completely right.
To quote shakespear "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet". Theft by any "justification" is still theft.

| While it was completely wrong of Pudding to do that, and I do not agree with it, I think it was inappropriate to name-drop like that.
Pudding, I don't think you understand exactly how wrong it was to copy that artwork.

| Well it doesn't follow the literal definition of name dropping, obviously, but I feel that it's wrong to target someone in public. ^^; That's all. It's not that it's okay to copy another's work or that people that do it shouldn't be pointed out or punished for what they've done, but I suppose it just seems wrong to be so public about it.
Bah, I suppose my logic and my sympathy are clashing right now. D:

| It started as she had a suspicion but couldn't find the proof. She found the proof but then didn't have really anything to do with it since this forum has no predetermined rules on such things. So it was discussed. I personally think people should be aware of it. To me art theft is a cardinal sin, and it just worries me that she's getting away with it, since there is no real way to punish her or anyone on the internet that does it.
So i don't think of it as a name drop, why should i be sympathetic to her being caught for doing something wrong? If she hadn't done anything this would never have been an issue in the first place.
Off-topic: Shouldn't you be sleeping? o__O

| Oh I completely agree with you. Let's just say that I'm... easily influenced by emotions. ^^; The facts obviously show that there shouldn't be anything wrong with calling her out for it, and I understand that.
Well I took some cold pills that knocked me out earlier without knowing what they'd do. D: So now I'm wide awake...

| Exactly. Hopefully she'll learn from this experiance. But from her replies i'd say not, since she (and her friend) seems to see us as the persecuters and them as the victims. When they're the ones in the wrong. : \
Ahh, well that's what you get. ;D

| Meh, I suppose so but we'll see. I have faith at least. :3 A few mistakes and/or wrongdoings don't make someone a "bad" person.
Meh. Rawr.

| This is for anyone~
Tracing is okay for practicing. But when you go and trace and give it to other people claiming it your own, I personally don't think it's okay. ):
They should at least post the pic that they traced/referened.
