Nothing new with me really; I had to be at work at 6:30 yesterday morning and I still haven't slept more than maybe 2 hours in the last 2 days. Wee. I'm going to die. Buuut, I'm currently making myself a purse out of an old vynal record cover. 'Tis going to be epic when I'm done. And I'll show everyone, and they'll love it so much they all want one, and I'll be instantly popular and make millions of dollars and I'll never have to worry about money again.~ Weeee!~~

Sly I try and sell my needlefelted critters on etsy so far have had six sales lol not too bad. And do show pics and I'll want one ^^ I'm currently crocheting a jacket for a doll I'm getting a poseable 8 inch betsy Mccall doll two actually rofl yay for vintage dollies

Truth be told, I'm more of an "art" person than a "craft" person; I mean, I do love crafts, but I tend to be easily frusteratedb with them...it's very much a love-hate relationship. xD; I mainly like jewlry repair/design, scrapbooking, and other various things that don't require much sewing when I do crafts; I've never been very good at or interested in sewing...much to the lament of my grandmother. Although I'm thinking of taking up plushie and/or doll-making soon as I've got some extra time and a few ideas I'd really like to get out. :O We'll see how the purse/bag goes first though, methinks.

Eh, hello thread! I sorta forgot about you for a few days...

I love craft, and art. I just don't have much time for crafts anymore. Or at least for craft that I can't turn into art and use for school stuff. Speaking of that, I need to kick myself and go work on that huge painting that's staring at me (well, not really staring since it doesn't have eyes, but whatever)...

Oh man, don't even get me started on unfinished paintings. I've got maybe three or four oil paintings I want to completely paint over. Gonna sand and gesso them. Does gesso even work over oils ? I thinned them with linseed, but... :/

Pretty much given up doing paintings from imagination with oils. They always turn out crap even with reference. Back to lovely still life and portraits <3

I remember one of the crafts I used to do involved finding discarded flight feathers, cleaning them, and making them into quills. But I can only use the cheap breakable nibs because the good ones are expensive and I actually use them :P But my feather quill was my best prop on Harry Potter day C:

That actually sounds really cool, Reika.~ I want a quill now.... Well, I had one but somebody broke it sooo. :[

It's really pretty easy, as long as you can find a good feather and clean it thoroughly. Afterwards, you just gotta snip off the pointy tip to expose a bit of the hollow shaft and insert a nib with some superglue. Then glue ribbon over a little bit of the nib and wind it around the shaft to make a grip.

Maybe I'll photo if I can find one lol.

I seriously have no idea if gesso works on oils. My first guess would be no, since oils are, well, oily? But yeah, could be wrong there. I never worked much with oils, only a few small tries with some cheap paint that came with some art kit thingy. It didn't really impress me (then again I kinda sucked at painting, so yeah ).

I'd like to try that sometime. But not now. Because real life is stupid.
