| Just had a thought... But instead of the mystery box and those items which I am sure everyone has twenty million of...
Why not have something where posting gives you yhr chance to earn a fancy something. Just ... fot example, takr the mystery boxes, but make them a random reward for posting.
That was activity may go up and people still get cool things.

| I think Squid's idea would seem a bit easier to implement; how would you rate the user on how active they are ?
But I do like the idea of getting more interesting items the more you are involved in Mido. We do need some incentive for a more active community.

| Yes.
Yes yes double yes forever yes this would be awesome.
I mean, for realAniram's idea all Cat would really have to do was lower the chances a LOT for an item, thus by simple math the more active you are the more likely you are to get the .1% chance item than someone who posts just once.
I hope that made sense.
Or Cat could even just look at the activity level and judge herself who is active enough to receive the item, and send it personally xD there wouldn't even be any coding involved. It would just require a bit more effort/attention on her part.

| I am against the idea of floating boxes, personally, since I keep my window hella small, and I can't see all of the site at one time, so I'd probably miss them.
Like the Doctor said, just give it a point one percent chance of getting something from posting, the more you post, the more likely you are to get a prize.
This way, the market isn't flooded with a million purple eyes, and the site sees a bit more activity.

| I kinda like the idea of getting a reward based on how much you post (or chance of reward, or something).
My only concern with it, outside the fact that I have no idea if it's possible to code/how much work it'd require, is spamming. Like, if somebody posts only to get silver, or make posts that break the rules, we generally delete those posts, which automatically deletes the equivalent in silver/copper. But like, if somebody got a prize from posting... yeah, dunno what would happen.

| I don't think we'd have as much of a problem with spamming as you'd think, it'd just require a little more effort on the user's part to get their daily prize.
It could be simply, you must post 5 times before you can access your daily prize.
And later on we could make it tiered, so the more posts you make the better your daily prize is you unlock. You would only get one box per day, but which one you get would depend on the amount of posts you made so far.
So say, 5 post = 1 copper box (random amount of silver)
15 posts = silver box (random silver or item)
30 posts = gold box (random amount of silver, or an item or 5 gold)
and then the highest level box requiring 100 posts. Perhaps a "Deity" box that gives out rares. they could be old relics, or entirely new items. Or both
I like this idea and will definitely will try to see i i can get something done!

| Well... 100 posts is /really/ hard, especially if no one else is online/posting with you xD
Also cat, you should block the games board from counting as posts toward the boxes, if you can. I feel like THAT if anywhere else is where people could cheat xD

| Yeah, agreed. If it is possible to change the currency in one forum, then I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to disable this sort of feature in a specific forum.

| Yes, I'll definitely make sure it's disabled on that board.
neomattlac: coming from a lurker myself, forcing users to post to claim their daily reward does seems a bit unfair. The whole point of the daily prize was to encourage users who would not normally go on Midorea to open the page and claim their prize; perhaps long enough for a new update to catch their eye or something that'd cause them to stick around and participate.
I'll probably keep the current one free daily prize, but as encouragement I'll add a tiered system to the boxes. That way there'd be more incentive to post than to just jump on for a few seconds and claim their box.
