Rofl! Yeah, the only way you can tell is by blood work. ...Yeah...I don't know about that little metal thing >< Sounds like bogus to me :/ I believe in natural stuff and whatnot, but thaaatt.... haha, that would make me laugh.

And yeah, I didn't get a picture of Rocket while he was 'normal' XD he's fluffed up because he's getting settled.

To be honest we don't fully know whether our lovebirds are two boys, 'cos I heard the only way to tell is by blood, and I don't want to put them through it while it's not necessary...

They ain't made babies though, so it's a good chance xD
Gok the Cockatiel was supposed to be a boy, hence the name....
And it's a pretty brightly coloured one so we always believed it was.
Until it laid around 12 eggs last year.

I felt kinda bad for her really, because I read some don't ever lay eggs because they just don't want to... She wants babies and she can't Sad No boyfriend..
She gets over it though. And not laid any this year yet.

That's good. Laying eggs takes the calcium out of their body. I always have a cuddlebone attached to the inside of Rocket's cage even though he hasn't laid any eggs. Same with Ollie, although with Eclectus, you can tell what gender they are. Males are all green with a little red and blue and females are all bright red with purple. One of the only kinds of parrots that you can tell the gender.

Yeah, we heard about the calcium (first time any of our birds has laid eggs, but we tried to find out as much as possible) and basically we just left her alone to get it out of her system, otherwise she'd just lay more and completely wear herself out.

We did give her one of those calcium blocks though, and eventually she just realized the eggs weren't doing anything. I actually watched her boot them out her nest, which was weird o3o

The eggs were so... cute. I know that doesn't make sense, but they were. When she was done with them (we made sure by watching her), then took them away so she didn't smash them and make a mess.. They were just so small and smooth.. Poor Gok and her want to be a mother D: /upset now

I don't know that I would be much a bird person myself, I am more of a dog or cat person. Preferably I would love a dog.

Aww. Yeah, and chicks are so cute, but there are so many birds that people breed and then they end up not being properly taken care of and abused. Or they sell them in shops and don't make sure that the people buying them are going to take proper care of them. People don't realize how much time a bird takes. they think they can just leave it in a cage and let it be. They don't realize that they need to have toys regularly that they can destroy and play with and that they need to be socialized. People also just think they can feed them just seeds and pellets when they really need fresh fruits and vegetables.
Meh, I'm learning a lot about birds i never knew.

Right now my bird is on the chair back behind me eating a bit of oatmeal raisin cookie. The raisin makes it stick to his beak so he shakes his head and the cookie flies off and hits me in the head Happy Thanks bird, I love you too.

Yeah.. A long time ago, we bought two 'male' gerbils, one turned out to be a girl, and then we... had many.
Around 12 total I think.. We had to give some away to a shop but I was always worried they'd go to someone cruel..

I laughed at that though, nice bird, throwing cookie at peoples head.
Agh, bashed my head on a cupboard.. Dying..

lol. Well, we have the two birds, four dogs, three cats, and fish Happy
Now I have to do dishes and clean the back yard -.- Dogs need to learn to clean up after themselves. Buuutt, I shall be back once I am done ^^ Bird won't be happy about having to go back in his cage when I go out Sad He is having a fit now because I am in another room and he can't see me, haha. He's probably yelling at me to get my butt back in there.

I had a hamster once when I was eight, a female which we were told was not pregnant...she was wrong. I remember coming home from school one day and fixing to put her her in ball when I noticed these little pink things crawling all around her, several of them. It was a huge surprise.

SAME. THING. I think I was eight too =0 We were told that the hamster had never even been in contact with any male ones, but like a week after we got her, I got home and there were these purple-y pink veiny things in the cage. My mother thought they were grapes u___u;; and refused to believe otherwise until my sister actually picked one up and showed it to her.

-totally didn't just pop in out of no where- xD

Lol,
My mom did not react like that. She was on the phone when I made the discovery. I actually have no memory of her reaction when she saw the babies.
