| The more I think about it... The more I think having gold in the mystery boxes is a bad idea.
I mean, considering that Midorea hasn't really been producing a lot of gold items lately, and one of the reasons, as I recall was that there wasn't the money to hire the artists ... Is it really a good idea to be giving away the gold?
I mean. Don't get me wrong. I love it. Cat, it is REALLY GENEROUS. But I'm just not sure if it is financially responsible for the site. Granted, I don't know what the rate is, but on both of my accounts today, I got gold. Thirty, total, split ten and twenty.
I'd be interested to know the views of other people, both the staff and just plain old members of the site regarding this topic.

| It really depends on the amount for me...
'cos if it gives a lot of gold, yeah it seems kinda bad.
But if it gives say... 3 - 8 gold, fairly rarely, then it makes sense, because when they do release gold items, people will be like: "Hmm I already got 5 gold from that box, I may as well buy the other 15!"
So personally I think it could be ok, as long as it's not overdone.

| I find it strange that all three of your account got Gold, but all of mine did get silver.. I just figured that was what your most likely to get.
I agree with Kupsy, if its not overdone its a nice idea, but maybe it'd be best to give away tinier amounts like 1 or 2 gold?

| Well, no I don't think it would be smart to give away odd numbers. I mean, it takes twenty gold to buy a single monthly item. So, to give away only one ... what, are you going to donate a dollar ninety to the site? I think that makes even less sense.
(Also, only two accounts got gold, as I have only two accounts.)
I know I saw someone else say that they got fifty, which is five dollars worth.
I don't know. It just seems ... risky to me.
I mean, if it's done VERY RARELY, then yeah, go for it, I guess, if you really want. I'm just worried the market would flood too much, and no one will NEED to donate to because they're getting it all from the daily chance.

| Hmm, good points. I honestly never really thought about that.
The gold was suppose to be rare, rarer than the items. I opened about 100 boxes and only got about 30g in total. (which is a bit much now that I think about it...)
However, the rate at which people are getting gold is a lot higher than that it seems... At the moment you can win up to 20g at one time, but I plan to change it so that it only gives out a maximum 5.
