I love black cats more than other colored cats for some reason. The just seem more chill than other colors, so I probably feel that I can relate. I would totally take that cat, if I didn't live so far away and that we didn't have these 3 dogs. >> *prefers cats, but still likes dogs. Anything but snakes and spiders... particularly spiders...*

Im a foster father to kittens a lot.
The shelter normaly asks me to tend to a litter. My current one right now is motherless. Luckily they are able to eat on their own.
It's my first litter I had that had no mother...

It's a rewarding deed and I love every second of it.
It also helps that Im a HUGE cat person too.

Sorry that it's been forever. These kittens and family issues have just been eating up my time lately.

The kittens and mother are doing well. We're going to start adopting them out this Saturday, since they'll be six weeks by then. I'd like to wait until eight, but my mom and her boyfriend want them gone ASAP.

My concern, however, is that the kittens aren't ready to be adopted yet. They're still breast-feeding, and the mother gets really concerned whenever they're out of her sight. I read earlier that I should start feeding the mother and kittens separately and give them other time away from each other, so I guess I'll start that tomorrow.

I have more pictures and videos that I'll edit in tomorrow too. Right now I'm fighting off a headache - did I mention I'm allergic? XD

Aaaw, I wish I lived close enough to take one of them, they're so cute! We just recently had to put one of our cats down (She was about 23 years old, and unfortunately while she was still extremely healthy physically, she couldn't function mentally anymore), and I think a new kitty would be good for my mother.

I know it's way after the fact, but I definitely wouldn't worry about heat when it comes to cats; they're originally desert animals, and most love the sun and heat. I live in Southern Florida, where it's insanely hot out durring the day, and you can never go out without sunglasses even in the middle of 'winter*'...And yet even on the hottest days, my cat Selphie is constantly crying to be let out to sunbathe on the balcony, and when you let her she plops down right in the sun, on the hot tile, and looks like she's in heaven.

As far as adopting them out...If the kittens are still nursing, it's probably too soon for people to actually take them home with them, but there's nothing wrong with letting prospective owners come to meet them. As a child I knew two families who bred dogs, and I'm pretty sure people would come to look at the litter and decide who they wanted to adopt even before the puppies were weaned, and then take them home once they were old enough.

(* And by 'Winter', I mean those two to three weeks in the middle of January where it's actually cool enough to make you want to wear a jacket.)[/i]
