| I'm in a rush because I have to go to therapy, but I'd like some advice. Yesterday when my mom took my sister to the bus stop, a starving cat followed her home. We fed it and I insisted that it was pregnant, but within ten minutes of eating it disappeared. Today it showed up again and disappeared to the side of our house, so we followed it and wouldn't you know it, there were kittens. We fed it, gave it water, and gave it a box with a sheet, but it's been 97 degrees and will be like that from here it. It keeps meowing and coming up to us but we don't know what else to do. Any advice?

| Call the vet and ask, or call animal services/animal control and see.

| Keep feeding the mother and giving her water for now.
Where exactly has she got her kittens, in relation to your house?
Animals are quick to learn, she'll soon see you as a friend if you keep feeding her. Just don't touch the kittens, I think, but it wouldn't surprise me if the mother let you pet her pretty soon.
But yea, also call whatever local animal charity you have nearby, tell them the situation and see what they say. They might come pick them up and take them back to a shelter, or if not, maybe they can give you advice on taking in the cats if you can. how many kittens are there, by the way?

| why would the all black one be harder to home? *blinkblink*
yea, i saw the pictures last night before i went to sleep, chu - poor thing looks so tired, bless her.. certainly must be grateful for the box you gave her to sleep in with her kittens. It seems like she's doing well then, and the babies - but it's probably still worth getting a vet to come check them out or something, just in case .gif)

A lot of times people are still superstitious when it comes to black cats, so they won't adopt them. >< Like, on Halloween there are people who will kill them if they see them out, not a lot, but I've heard of it happening.
Or it could be for some other reason, I dunno. ^^;

| ugh that's pretty stupid if that IS the reason.. black cats are lucky anyway, not unlucky! ;3;
haha... but maybe i would think that. I have a black cat called Lala at home (my family home that is) and now 2 black cats where i'm living at the moment called Fifi and Gizmo XD I'm thinking the next black cat i get will have to be called "Mimi" or something, haha.

| It is the most stupid reason I've ever heard< yet people actually believe it! xD
If my family wasn't allergic, I would have a black cat in my home now. I find them so cute

| People do try to attack and kill black cats on Halloween, just for shits and giggles.
Momma's inside a room that doesn't get any traffic now; it was too hot. She and the kittens seem to be doing fine, but she's constantly purring. I'm afraid that she may be going through some sort of pain, or maybe it's the stress from the birth and drastic change of location. I dunno... For now, I'm just trying to keep her as comfortable as possible.

| Should could be stressed from the heat. Mother cats are very protective and usually won't ever leave her kittens unless she knows they are safe.
Does she ever leave them, besides when she eats?
Cats don't really go through birthing pains as human females do, but she could be stressed..thats always possible.

| Yes, especially lately. She'll meow at the door for attention because the room is secluded, and spend time relaxing with me in another part of the room. I try keeping the room warm for the kittens - should I keep it a little cooler for her?

| I have no idea about warmth, but I really wouldn't worry about the purring. Cats purr for lots of reasons, but all of them good as far as I am aware. Partly she must just be a happy new mama :3 but also, purring is actually physically healing for cats, so the constant purring might be helping her body to recover from the birth or something ^_~

| Oh purring..
She's nursing..its a natural response for a momma cat.
If she's moving around and what not, she'll be fine.
