((Aimee 43, Viola 53))

Aimee's spear flies through the air, and Viola barely dodges it, the point of the spear cutting her upper arm before sticking into the ground.

Jade nodded, smirking. "Eh, don't worry about it, I'm used to it by now." Jade sighed and looked in the direction of the greenhouse. She hadn't been in a long time, and while Cyrel's staff usually did maintenance, she still wasn't looking forward to seeing it in its present state. She looked at Cyrel and smiled weakly, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"I'll tell Adrian and Andrew to take care of the study room, okay? You an' Corik come help me with the greenhouse. I'ma probably need your powers to help get that place back in shape." She grabbed her overnight bag and pulled out her toiletry bag, which had some body soap and face scrub. "I'ma take a quick shower...been...uh. Drinkin'. Heh. Go find Corik so that when I get out y'all can help me, okay?"

With that, she left Cyrel to her task, and went to the showers. She undressed and turned the shower on, standing in the stream, letting the water wet her hair and hit her face.

How long?

How long...?

Do you plan to stay here?

"...I don't know. I've enough clothes for a couple of days. We'll see what happens."

You cannot stay here forever. You all need to go out and catch this Misus killer...

Jade sighed and reached for the soap and rag. "I know. I'ma talk to Viola an' Andrew when we're all done cleaning. Once we get our ideas hashed out, and devise a plan, we'll tell the pari." Jade paused for a minute, thinking. "Know what, no. On second thought, we'll all meet together. I wanna see how everyone's been holdin' up. Then we'll all talk about the incidents and come up with a plan together. The pari need to have just as much a hand in this as we do. That, and we all promised to stick together."

Jade rinsed off and stepped out of the shower, drying off and wrapping the towel around her, before walking back to her bag where her clothes were. Once she dressed, she walked down the hall, which was beginning to crowd with ghostly figures. She blinked and walked out to the main room, which had vague images of people, flickering in and out, wandering aimlessly about the premises.

"That's...kinda creepy." She searched the room, trying to find where Adrian was. She looked up, finding him standing on one of the catwalks. "YO ADRIAN!"

"Eh, not so bad," Aimee thought, pleasantly surprise to see her new weapon working as it should, but also feeling relieve that she had not hit Viola any harder. Although she wanted to keep things as close as possible to a real fight, a good Sene was an alive Sene. She shrugged and shook her head, trying to keep her focus on the task at hand.

Sending some magical energy to the ground nearby, she quickly formed a soft ice bomb and released it. "Freezing Winter!" she yelled as the bomb exploded, aiming it for Viola's legs.

((Aimee 78, Viola 7))

Aimee releases the bomb, but in usual form, she lets the pressure build too much, and it explodes shortly after release, getting all over her legs, effectively freezing her in place to the floor. After a few small chuckles, Viola calls everyone in the warehouse within earshot over, and they all pitch in to help chip the ice away from Aimee's feet.

The rest of the day is spent cleaning up the warehouse, Jade, Corik, and Cyrel straighten up the greenhouse while Andrew and Adrian handle the study. Aimee sits in the break room wrapped in a blanket so as to warm up, and Viola makes her some tea. After cleaning, Cyrel sends one of the staff for some Chinese food to bring to the warehouse, and the Vilos all eat in the break room, exchanging experiences of the past few days, and discussing the murders. While everyone in the group has heard enough about the murders to see how the citizens feel about it, most of them have been too wrapped up in dealing with the bad publicity in their private lives to pay much attention to it. But with the group all gathered and the warehouse clean, a feeling of resolve builds around the Vilos as they decide to buckle down and solve this case and clear their names.

It is decided that the Vilos stay at the warehouse until further notice, and that the pari should not leave alone, and that a sene was to always be present at the warehouse to help with security detail. Everyone calls their respective families to say where they are, that they'll be all right, and Cyrel has the staff go out and get some air mattresses and comforters for everyone.

~Later that night, 10:04 pm~

The break room and study are cleared of the desks and chairs, and the floor is littered with air mattresses, sheets, and comforters. everyone is pajamas, so something akin to it, and a large TV has been installed on the wall just for them. The pari decide to sit and watch TV and take their minds of of their current drama. Adrian and Cyrel squabble over the remote while Corik and Aimee watch quietly, Adrian wanting to watch the news, while Cyrel is sick of hearing about the murders, and wishes to watch something else. Corik has no preference until Cyrel takes the remote and adamantly declares that they are going to watch a marathon of "I Love the 80's: Strikes Back" on VH1. It isn't until Jade walks over and snatches the remote from them, yelling at them to "shut up and Rock-Paper-Scissors for it" before she makes them watch reruns of "El Rostro de Analia," that they calm down. Much to Corik and Adrian's chagrin, Cyrel wins, and they end up watching VH1 anyway.

Just as the pari calmed down and get settled, Jade saw Andrew walk out of the break room out of the corner of her eye. She glances at Viola, who is sitting at the table going over some notes. "Hey, I'll be right back, okay?" Jade walks out after him, lightly jogging after him down the hall.

"Hey Batman. Off to patrol Gotham?"

Adrian returned to his bed, recovering from his huff, embarrassed for loosing his patience so easily, still stressed from lack of sleep and overexertion in his practices, resting his back against his allocated air mattress and gazing blankly at the television, meditating and collecting himself. At least this time it wasn't with anything too significant... I'll have to apologise to Cyrel later... There won't be anything on the news I can't catch up on later.

"Or, you could do it because it is the considerate thing to do Adrian. I have been meaning to talk with you about that. You have been pushing yourself very hard ever since the conflict in the park, and you have also started to exhibit an inordinate amount of anger and aggression in your illusions." Richter's voice leaked into Adrian's thoughts, the icy chill familiar, with a warmth and concern thinly masked.

Adrian sighed, settling against his mattress. I... I know... I've noticed it myself... but I need to be stronger... I've barely been able to contribute to the team at all... and don't cite the illusion over the entrance, that failed as well... in combat I've only been able to cause the Misus a moment's distraction... And I've not been able to find the identity of any of the Misus agents. I... I suppose I just need a little time to relax and rethink things. He stood, saying he needed a bit of fresh air, waving to Jade and Andrew as he headed towards the warehouse doors, pulling a small crystal of quartz that he had been experimenting with from his pocket, holding it up to the light as he leaned against the wall a few meters from the doors themselves, closing his eyes and forcing himself to relax, smiling softly.

Viola decided to not watch television with the others and instead busied herself by looking over some notes she had taken about every Misus agent that they had run into over the past few months. As she flipped through each of them, she ruled out how possible it would be for them to commit these crimes. She had pretty much ruled Aiden out, because the wounds were not his style. If he was going around killing people, the bodies would be covered with third degee burns, not slash marks.

There was the girl with the shadow lions... a likely suspect, but she barely knew anything about this one: only seeing her a few times before and even then barely fighting her. She spent more time focussed on the lions, not their master. She would talk to Jade about it later. For now she had to look over what she had, and draw some conclusions from that.

Cyrel was already bored of the tv. It had been more fun when there was someone to argue over the channels with. She hadn't really cared to watch what had been settled on anyway. Just as long as it wasn't another news program. Adrian had wandered off after she had won the argument. Jade and Andrew where off doing there own thing. Viola was reading over some of her own notes.

That left her Aimee and Corik watching t.v and she was flat bored. Suddenly a thought came into her head and she began to smirk at the idea. " Eh why not besides it might relieve some of the tension in here." She thought to herself picking up a pillow. "PILLOW FIGHT!!!!" She screamed before tossing the pillow at Corik's face

((SHIT JUST GOT REAL Cyrel 78, Corik 2))

The pillow sails through the air. Just as it is about to hit Corik on the back of the head, he whirls around and sweeps his arms outward, assailing the room with a gust of wind that blows back not only the pillow, but the sheets, and the notes and books Viola is studying on the table. The pillow Cyrel had thrown is blown upward, right over Corik's head.

Jade had been waiting for Andrew to answer before she head a ruckus down the hall.

"...The hell is?" Jade looked back at Andrew, who appears just as confused. "I'ma go see what's up." She gave him a quick kiss and told him "Be safe," before jogging back down the hall. Just as she entered the doorframe, the pillow intended for Corik blew toward her, hitting her in the face, sending feathers everywhere. As the pillow fell away, she picked it up grinning.

"Oooohhhh, it's like that huh? All right, take this!" Jade, armed with the pillow, ran into the room, hopping over Aimee and Corik and swung the pillow right for Cyrel.

Cyrel was trying to get her night clothes fixed after Corik's little wind blast. She has just barely noticed Jade coming at her with the pillow and tried to dodge the assault

"Oh, goodness." Viola sighed, scrambling to pick up her notes. She would re-organize them later. Right now, she had some paying back to do. "And those were all alphabetical and everything!" She shouted, grinning. She couldn't be angry at them. Everybody needed some time to relax, and she would be more than happy to join in the relaxations. She was pretty much done with her notes anyways.

She ran into the fray, tossing a pillow at Corik to get back at him for blowing her notes all over the place.

Seeing the pillow coming, Corik quickly backhanded the incoming projectile, attempting to deflect it back at Viola...

Jade's attack misses, as Cyrel ducks under the pillow, leaving Jade swinging at the air. Viola's pillow shoots for Corik, only to have his send a blast of air at it. The pillow deflects right back at Viola, getting her int he chest, sending more feathers everywhere.

"Arrrgh! Hold' still ya little--!" Jade whips the pillow about the air, trying to land a hit on Cyrel, swinging it downward, aiming for her legs.

Viola pulled a feather out of her hair and laughed. "Nice shot!" She grabbed two pillows, one to serve as a sword and the other as a shield, and ran into the fray, trying to swing a pillow at Corik while blocking off any other attacks with the second pillow.

(Meanwhile in another part of the city.)

Max had been in a right foul mood for a larger part of the day. She rarely read the newspaper that was delivered to their house. She flipped through it periodically, mostly to check on the weather. However, every once in a while a picture or a headline would catch her eye. She had been idly flipping through the pages, while her mother worked on job related paperwork. Her attention drifted until a small blurb of an article brought her attention back to the papers.

At first, the article sounded like a bad joke, or a publicity stunt. The more she read, the angrier she became. It was indeed a stunt. However, the person mentioned in the paper was well aware that what they were going was bound to piss a lot of people off. And indeed it did. Maxine tossed the paper aside and went to her room in disgust. There she stayed, playing video games, until it was time to eat.

Over dinner, Mrs. Buckland had attempted to coax a reason behind her daughters’ ire. Max begrudgingly stated that she had read something that had made her sick. The matter was eventually dropped and they finished their meal in silence.

11:05pm that evening
Assured that her mother was asleep, Max snuck out of the house. Her desire to kill something had increased as she brooded in the darkness of her bedroom. True, the person she actually wanted to murder was far beyond her reach. But she could probably find someone else that would work just as well. But first, she needed to find them. The cold and her extracurricular activities had driven most of her perspective victims into hiding of some sort. Those that hadn’t been lucky or smart enough to find refuge really didn’t deserve any leniency. Not tonight.

She had been riding through the cold streets for a better part of the hour when she actually began scouting for loners. Max might have really wanted to smite something, but she wasn’t about to do it on her doorstep. That would have been stupid. Well, to be fair, riding a bike out in this weather, at this time of night was not the best thing to be doing anyway. But certain things took precedence.

As occupied with her search for a target as she was, she failed to see a patch of black ice until she was practically on top of it. Max attempted to keep her bike from careening out of control as she slid across the road hazard. The pedals seemed to stick for a moment and then were free to move as the chain came unfastened. The metal links hung loose on the gear changer after she came to a screeching halt. “Are you kidding me? Are you frikking serious?!” Maxine dismounted to check on her mode of transportation. Thankfully, it was nothing more serious than the stupid chain. She could fix that. Her fingers ached at the thought of touching the freezing metal, but it needed to be done. Just not out here, in the open.

Max glanced around for a covered area to replace her chain. There was a public garage across the street, which she could use. It would shelter her from the elements, even if it wasn’t the brightest area to work with. With a growl, she led the bicycle into the building. Her footsteps made little sound as she pulled the hunk of metal into an area that had just enough light to toil in, but still dark enough to be ignored from the street. She was nearly finished when she heard the sound of footsteps. You can’t be serious. She pretended to ignore the heavy foot falls as they echoed through the empty building.

“Hey there. You nearly had a nasty fall. Are you alright?” a masculine voice asked from somewhere behind her.

“I’m fine,” Maxine growled back. “Go away.”

The man didn’t come any closer, but he certainly didn’t go away either. He probably thought she was being an ungrateful punk, which wasn’t too far from the truth. But he didn’t address it. Instead, he asked; “what’re you doing out here, by yourself?”

“None of your business. Now, go away,” she repeated.

The man moved a couple steps, but the acoustics of the build made it hard for Max to tell if he was leaving or getting closer. “It’s not safe to be out on your own, especially with all these murders going on,” he replied.

There’s going to be another one soon, if you don’t get the hell away from me, Max was sorely tempted to shoot back. “I’ll be fine.”

“You might be saying that now, but later on? When it gets’ colder, you might not be thinking that,” he stated in a tone of voice that Max didn’t recognize. “My flat isn’t that far. You can hang low, there, until this all blows over.”

Hang low? Did he think she was a runaway? “I’m heading somewhere,” she stated, hoping he would get the hint that she didn’t want to talk to him. By this time, she had finally re-chained her bike. Max wiped the grease from her fingers onto the lower part of her pants legs before standing up. She took her handlebars in hand and turned to leave, making sure her bike was between her and her current companion. This gave her a better view of the guy who wasn’t leaving her alone.

He was taller than Max by a handful of inches. His features were obscured by shadows as well as his thick clothing, so it as hard to tell what he really looked like. From what she could see of his face, he seemed to be smiling. “You must be freezing, though.” He took another step towards her. As he approached, he reached out as if to put his hand on her shoulder. “I can help warm you up.”

Max took a step backward, disgusted. Truth be told, she was feeling colder than she would have liked, now that she wasn’t moving around. Touching the cold metal of her bike hadn’t helped. She wouldn’t have taken him up on his offer, before. Now with a better idea of what the stranger looked like, she was determined to have little to do with him. There couldn’t have been anything good about his intentions. “I said I’m, FINE! Now, back off!” she snarled.

“Aww, don’t be like that,” the man lunged forward, making a grab for her arm. The weird smile he had didn’t leave his face.

Max shifted her stance, firmly gripping her bike. She turned the front wheel slightly, and drove the handlebar into the man’s gut. He gasped for a moment before sinking to his knees. His smile shifted into a grimace as he glared up at the teenager. “You little bitch! I was trying to be nice.” He attempted to make a grab at his would be target, but the bike was in the way. He grabbed at the frame, trying to wrestle it out of her grasp. Max at first resisted. Though, she was reminded of the original reason she was out. She let go, and ran into the gloom of the building. With any luck, he would follow. If not, it wouldn’t be too hard to find him again.

She removed her jacket, as she usually did before changing. Max listened to the heavy footsteps that echoed in the building some distance behind her. The man also seemed to be yelling something, but the reverberations made it hard to discern what it was he was threatening to do when he caught up to her. Whatever it was, it couldn’t have been fun. He seemed to have taken the bait. She halted her apparent retreat to transform.

Max listened again, as she pulled her jacket over her tank top. He was closer now. The Misus slunk into the shadows, to wait. He wouldn’t notice her when he passed. He would have nowhere to run when her beasts came out to play. She concentrated on the shadows she was lurking in. They danced around her cold fingertips, waiting to be summoned.

The man passed, still yelling obscenities. Max stood up when he had moved a number of meters away. “You should have left when I told you to. Phantom Pride.”

The man slowed, at the sound of her voice, and turned around. He resumed his advance when he realized that she was no longer in the direction he was headed. His body language changed from angry to apprehensive, as the shapes of massive beasts formed around her. “What the- WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT?!” he exclaimed. He backed away from the teenager and her shades. When she and her phantasms advanced, he ran.

((Jade 75, Viola 60, Cyrel 78, Corik 37))

Cyrel jumps in the air to avoid being tripped up by the pillow, only to have it catch her ankles in mid-air. Cyrel is thrown off balance and lands right on Jade, grasping at the tshirt Jade is wearing. Not ready for the new attachment, Jade stumbles backward right into Viola's line of fire, and is pummeled by Viola. Corik, who had yet to have a pillow touch him, smirks and faces the three girls, cupping his and at his mouth. He makes a motion with his hands as if to blow kisses, sending one last gust of wind, but gentler than the ones before; just enough to send Jade and Cyrel teetering and crashing into Viola. The three of them land on the mattress in a heap of comforters, sheets, and pillow feathers.

Corik stands above them, chuckling, his old cocky attitude showing through.

Jade was having a good laugh at this, along with the others. It was silly and immature, but it felt good to have some stupid fun after everything she'd been through, and she could tell everyone else was glad to have it as well. Though she was not about to let this cocky pari of hers have the last laugh. Without warning, her hand shot out and grabbed at the boy's collar, yanking him down into the pile with the rest of them. She turned him around and locked her arms around his shoulders, then yelled, "All right ladies! I got him stuck, have at 'im!"
