'Hello, Melody. I hear that you managed to come out of nowhere into this tower. The walls whisper strange tales to me today, that of ancient and forgotten magic.'


Fenris glanced around. What had just happened? One moment he was in his room, the next he was trying to get answers out of a strange girl, and now he was standing alone in a library. He sighed, feeling forgotten.

Melody cringed a little. "I'm afraid I have little understanding of what you're talking about..." she nervously scratched her right hand just above her elbow. "All I know that I'm not supposed to be here," she continued. "And, if possible, I'd like to get home somehow..." she raised her eyes at him, hoping that the mage could give her the answers she needed.

'Home? And where would that be?' he asked.


Fenris put his head under the pillow as he heard the howling of the wolves outside. 'And what would the little elf like for supper?' asked a voice.
'Little?' he said. 'You've hardly any right to call me that, considering your own stature.' He peered out from under the pillow at the strange wrinkled up creature wearing nothing but a loincloth in front of him, hardly tall enough to reach his knees.
'Ah yes, it's the loony night for the master tonight, time to get grumpy and snap at this poor old sack of bones, who has to go up so many stairs three times a day, just to kep you well looked after, when you could just go down yourself!'
'Yes, yes, I've heard it all before! I'm not hungry, so you can leave now.'

"Well.." she stopped wondering how could she reply to that, "Well, it's somewhere on the other side of this book.. I guess..." she felt lost, was she still in her own time or was she transported (teleported?) somewhere else? Melody took a deep breath and started telling him about a small town in the middle of Europe where she lived, about the library and about the little incident that left her in a position she was now in. The girl wasn't sure if any of her words made sense, but she did hope that there would be at least a half reasonable explanation.

Maur scratched his grey beard, trying to make sense of all this. 'That is indeed strange magic. No magic that is taught nowadays, to be meddling with dimensions. Those spells are used only in dire need, more often used to summon demons and other creatures. This is strange indeed. It is such an ancient magic that it cannot be detected easily, so I'm not surprised Fenris did not find any magical trace on it. Give me that book, and I'll see if I can reopen the dimensional hole.' He held out a thin hand.

"Demons..." she muttered. But I'm no demon... Am I? This was absurd.
"The book?" she repeated and blinked. She thought for a while and remembered that book flying about till Fenris stopped it and placed it back...
I don't have it, I think it's back at the library where I met him," she responded. "Should I go back look for it?"

'Ah, yes, very well then. Off you go.' He did not seem very surprised of her appearance. Many years' expirience had taught him to be ready for anything.

Dana munched on her sandwich in the kitchen at the lowest level of the tower, which was underground.

Fenris yawned and decided to try and get some sleep.

Without another word said to her, she was made to leave the office. The girl sighed. What was she to do now? Could she simply chose a random room to stay through the night, or was she supposed to leave the inhabitants of this building alone? Whichever option she was supposed to take, that involved moving about the place which she knew nothing about and she doubted there was a layout of the building somewhere...

Melody looked around and after debating with herself for a minute, she turned back towards where she thought the library was.

Maur frowned. What sort of human was this child? She was so... different. He turned back to his scrolls and sat down. Yes, I will find a unicorn, I will be the first to capture one! A mad glint appeared in the mage's usually solemn eyes.

Dana watched the candlelight flicker. 'What's wrong?' asked Kai, a blonde boy of about her age.
'I miss home, Kai. I just wish I wasn't so different. They all used to think I was crazy. Maybe I still am. Maybe you really do exist.'
'We've already been through this. I exist on a different plane. Only you can see me.'
Dana reached out a hand and passed it through Kai. She wished she could touch him. She wished she could turn off her strange feelings for him.

Hardly making her way through the halls, Melody finally ended up finding the library. The place was now completely empty and at some point, it even looked scary. The girl slowly went up the stairs and to the far corner where she first found herself in upon arriving. She sat and leaned against the far wall and looked around. She smirked as a picture of a small kitten hiding in the smallest gap rose in her head. It didn't take long before Melody felt tired and fell asleep curling in that corner.

((hi, I'm back))

Fenris stared at the dry stick he was holding. He was outside, leaning against a tall tree practising his control over fire. He could only heat things up for a few seconds so far, let alone create an actual flame. There were four levels of magic to learn: Earth, water, air, fire, each one harder than the next. He had been reading much about the magical theory of his level, but hadn't been practising much.

Melody was in a deep slumber when suddenly voices started ringing in her head. She came! She's here, at last! She seems week... Oh shut it! the voices awakened her and the girl trashed her arms around as if trying to protect herself from something. Unfortunately, she hit some books which landed on her, making Melody completely aware of her surroundings. That's right. She wasn't home, she was in some weird place she knew nothing about, and to make things worse, it was pitch black! Struggling not to fall into a panic attack, the girl stood up and turned her sight towards where the staircase was. Melody sighed with relief as she saw fail moonlight fall through one of the windows from above. The girl walked towards the light and upon reaching it, she finally could breath easy. Raising her eyes up towards the window, the girl wished she had wings, just like the guy she met not too long ago.
