| Peter sighed heavily. It was a shame that they had not arrived in time to save the guard. At least the man would not pass away alone. And hopefuly he would not be in pain when he went, thanks to Halyths' potion.
He listened at the women discussed the article of cloth that had been found, as well as the makings of a plan. After a comple moments, he shook his head. "I don't think it's a good idea to call after them," he stated.
"We're dealing with orcs. We were lucky that they didn't attack us with all the noise we had been making. We'd be pressing our luck by calling more attention to ourselves," Peter explained. He put a finger to his chin as he thought. "I don't want to leave the children to the mercies of orcs, but I don't think leaving ourselves open for an attack is all that appealing."

| "I must agree with him." Rell said looking at the area the cloth had been found trying to see if it was a possible secret passage. It wasn't but it was worth a shot. "The question is what would orc's be doing looking for something in a place like this. I don't really think it was the children. They probably came as a surprise. There must be something in these ruins the orc's were after. Or they were after the kids to hold the rich on for ransom as was previously suggested.I really just don;t think that's the case though orc's can be brutish but there not as stupid as ogres and goblins they have some semblance of a brain in there skull." She said pacing a bit as she did when she was thinking.
She had worked with an orc once and he had been quite smart especially when it came to finding and stealing things. She hadn't been expecting it but he had tact and the means of making rather well thought out plans. He had unfortunately got himself caught in a nasty trap that she had failed to warn him about but such was the life of a thief who was in on letting the orc die. Of course she had, had he qualms about doing so but after being offered more than she had originally been offered she was all for it. The more money she could sneak to the guttersnipes the better.
"What to look for though." She said dropping down to a crawl like position her finger holding the front of her body up and her toes her rear. It was her way of looking over an area without disturbing it to much. It was slow moving but you could find out so much more this way.

| Briel lifted the torch high enough to lit their surrounding correctly. Well, as correctly as a burning torch could with a slight breeze shaking its flame, but it was still better than nothing. The others were right, calling out for the children wouldn't be a great idea if the orcs were still around. Although, Mercane would most likely had smelled them if it was the case, but she didn't want to push their luck any more than they needed. She pondered for a moment before she talked again.
"I haven't seen much orcs in the region," she said, thinking out loud. She wasn't sure if the others were familiar with the region and, in any case, she was probably the one who knew most about the forest and its creatures, so she figured she shared her thoughts with them. "Some clans live close to the base of the mountains, or along the roads that cross them. They rarely venture in the forest, and usually not without a clear purpose."
She paused, gathering her thoughts. "I doubt they would have come all the way to the ruins just to find a few children. After all, the roads in the mountains are used by many merchant caravans, so they could have just attack those if they wanted some treasure. Plus, the kids randomly came playing here, and I don't think the orcs would have waited around here just to catch a kid or two..."
Somehow, it just didn't make sense. The ruins were empty, as far as she knew, and no one had found anything valuable around for decades, if not more. Sure, she had heard some rumors of mysterious items, powerful artifacts and unimaginable treasure, but those were just rumors. Of all the exploration teams she had leaded here, none had found a trace of something valuable, not even a small coin. So why did the orcs came around here?
She was sure they had not come for the kids. After all, there was nothing telling them the kids would be here, especially in the bad weather. Maybe they wanted to raid the village? She knew some tribes had troubles with resources at time, but most of them were civilized, meaning they generally preferred trading to raiding. They still attacked each others, or the nearby dwarfs and humans settlements, but not as often as in the past.
The druid shrugged, bringing her attention back to reality. "Hm, anyway, let's check for some clues instead of wasting time. If the kids have been around, there should be some traces. And if we find nothing, then we'll see what we do. Be careful where you walk," she suggested with a smile. She then looked back at Jinks and asked for the piece of fabric the wolf had found earlier. Mercane sniffed it, like any dog would, and started to look around, sniffing the air and stones, apparently following some lead. Hopefully she'll find something, Briel thought with a shiver. The temperature was getting colder, and she didn't want to be outside if the blizzard restarted.

| ((gah! the moment I'm gone an event starts! whyyyy? and sorry about being gone a month instead of a week))
Orcs! Aena scowled slightly. What would orcs want to do with some children? They were some of the most foulest creatures to walk the earth. She hoped the children were still alive, wherever they were. But why would orcs come all the way down here to capture some children? They must be planning something different. Since one of the children was the son of a lord, maybe they would use him as bait of some sort? Maybe they'd give him back in return for something?
((ahh fail post))
