And this is my first time posting in a hangout thread since I'm a little shy around large groups, on or offline. Why isn't there a chatterbox/babblesphere forum around here? I'm scared!D:

I'm actually really nervous about posting in hangouts, since I'm naturally ignored in them, so if you don't mind me being direct- and take no offense since you were just kidding by it- that seemed a little mean, in my honest opinion. D: I'm not mad, though, just a little more apprehensive and maybe a little hurt, newbie-wise than I was before I came in. Sorry I'm not much of a thick-skinned person to be able to let joking comments like that roll off my back and laugh at them. T_T

@Fox: You came from Gaia, so it's understandable that you'd be a little apprehensive in forums like this. Just calm down; no one's out to insult or flame you. ^^ The humor around Midorea is basically what Ace did - people who all-caps and fake-rage are always joking around.

Chu: I'm aware that it wasn't really a direct flaming assault, since Weaseldale did mention that she was joking, and I get that it's ok to be like that around people sometimes, I just think that there's a limit something like that should be toned down to, on certain occasions, like around apprehensive little newblets like me, who may be easily offended at it after coming from a site that's full of it, and only hoping for a nice, friendly forum community to not make them feel unwanted, y'know? Things like "NO, GO AWAY!!!!" can easily effect scared newblets who don't know much about the people in the new site they stumble into; joking tone or not. It's pretty hard to decipher tone over the internet, anyway.

I don't mean to chew Weaseldale out for it, I just want her to be a little more mindful of the things that can be taken offensively by newcomers, in the future, if it can be helped.

It's honestly how people like her (and myself, mind you) are friendly with people. ^^; I understand where you're coming from, but try not to be so critical. Everyone here is lighthearted, after all. At any rate, I think that she understands and will avoid that type of thing around you from now on, but she can behave how she wants as long as that behavior abides to the rules.

The staff has no tolerance of harassment or flaming, so it's not something that you have to worry about defending yourself against. Gaia is really a "fend for yourself" community because of its size - people easily offend others and behave rudely because it's hard to monitor so many people. Smaller websites such as Mido are communities in which the staff can and will protect the users because the userbase size is appropriate for the number of people on staff.

No need to apologize, I guess, Weaseldale. It was mostly me- I freaked out because I didn't immediately take to people's sense of humor if that's really what I should call it here, since I was defensive from the start.

Chu: Gotcha. If that's the way people are here, then I'll try, at least, to be a little less "critical". Good to know the staff don't tolerate flaming and harassment- I don't think that what Weseldale said really crosses into the line of either of them, but probably pushes pretty close, which was why I just needed to get it off my chest. It seemed like a pretty hurtful thing to say, at least to me, or any newbie here.

But now that everyone's in agreement with rules, and apparently, my humorous welcome initiation is done with, and since my outburst of concerns and apparent derailment of the thread (I'm sorry) have thrust me into an even more awkward place with the community, I should probably wish everyone here a good day, and take my leave now.
