Wild Ride (Animal/Sicence fiction RP)

[Yare]

(Yay!)

Gwenlin nodded. 'If one does, it'll be about seven days before you need to eat again. Us, on the other hand...'

[Tsemara]

Brin thought about not eating every day. It was a strange idea. "Even me?" Her ears perked up in surprise.

[Yare]

'Every carnivore,' Gwenlin said. 'If they ate every day, they'd run out of prey.'

[Tsemara]

Brin thought about this, whiskers twitching as different thought passed. "That makes sense, I guess. But how would we get something that big? The only things I know about hunting I got from watching some special on PBS. I can barely jog properly, much less pounce and try to kill something."

[Yare]

'Practice pouncing,' Gwenlin said. 'Bite on the back of the neck, just behind the head. That suffocates them.'

[Tsemara]

Brin would have made a disgusted face, if she had known how. But she did manage to look uncomfortable with the idea, with her ears sitting flat against her skull. "What would I practice pouncing on? I don't want to hurt anyone," she said meekly.

[Yare]

Gwenlin looked around, and spotted a rock. She pointed to it. 'That. Try to get up as high as you can.'

Dania listened in on their conversation. She would have to learn how to pounce, too. She bent against the ground, tail twitching slightly, and tried jumping on to a stone. But it came out more as a half-hop, somehow making her end up on her side. She growled with annoyance and tried again.

[Tsemara]

Brin looked at the rock for a moment before crouching. She made a sound of surprise after jumping. She had not expected to get as high as she did. Fifteen feet was childs play for a cat her size. But for her as a human, it was unheard of. She managed to land on her feet, if not in a slightly ungraceful manner. "Holy snap! I didn't know I could do that!" She looked at Gwenlin in shock.

[Yare]

Gwenlin gave a happy chirp. 'See? You just need to keep practising.'

Dania stared amazed at Brin. She could jump really high. She shook her head and turned back to the stone. She jumped and this time managed to trip herself on a tiny pebble while landing. At least it wasn't her lack of skill entirely when she fell this time.

[Yare]

'Keep going,' Gwenlin said, nodding to Dania. 'Just practice.'

[Tsemara]

Brin bunched up her muscles, readying herself for another leap. Now that she was expecting to get fairly high, she wasn't so surprised when she made it close to twenty feet in the air. After a couple more jumps, of varying grace, she didn't get any higher. She sat down, tired. She wasn't used to this kind of activity.

"Well, I'm rather glad I don't have to chase down grass to eat it. Although I am thinking that it will taste rather bland."

[Yare]

'I haven't tried any,' Gwenlin said. 'Meldo and I eat fruit. Speaking of which...' She and the male monkey began scanning the treetops for food for themselves.
