This question has probably been asked before; or discussed or something. But that's why I decided I'd just come to you first and see if you know about it. I can't seem to find the Elegant Hairstyle in BLONDE. Is there one at all? Is there one at all, or am I just blind? There are all the other colors except that one. ; O; *wants*

It's a thread that you make, in the Wishing Well sub-forum, to list the items you'd like to get, or anything else you're aiming for.
That way you can keep track of your goals and dreams and, since it shows the items and things you want, it makes it easier for other people to donate to you.

.:: Little Guide On How To Survive ::.
~ Part Three: Making Money ~

So, I've heard a lot of people saying that items on Midorea cost a lot and wondering how they could ever get enough money to buy anything. And so I thought it would be nice to share some tips with those people.

The first thing you need to understand on Midorea are the differences between each currency. There are currently four types of currencies:
  • Copper: Copper is found in some forums (Fun&Games, Storybook and Lyrics). Each copper coin is worth 0.2 silver. You can use copper in the Newbie Store or exchange it for silver.

  • Silver: Silver is the main currency on Midorea. It's what you'll get from battling and posting in most forums. It is what you'll need to buy items from most shops.

  • Gold: Gold is what you'll get for donating real money to the site. A gold coin is worth 0.1USD and is usually sold on the marketplace for around 100 silver. It is used to buy items from the Temple of Gold.

  • Lotus Feathers/ Tickets/ Ice Crystals/ etc.: Those are event currencies. They can be obtained during events by posting and battling. They are used to buy items from the event store and can usually be exchange for silver after the end of the event.

So, your main goal should be to make silver, since it's what you'll need to buy items. There are various strategies to achieve this goal, but here are a couple of simple ones:

  • Posting: Posting will get you some silver, up to 100 per post. This strategy simply consists of posting as much as you can and trying to make the longest posts you can, in order to get money. Of course, spamming, in other word posting useless and off-topic comments just to get more money, is not tolerated on Midorea and will get you in trouble. You'll need to find a thread you like so that you can post relevant information in it and stay on topic. The Lounge is a good place to chat with your friends and meet more people. Even if the posts in there are generally smaller, they get answer more frequently, thus getting you a chance to post more.
If you prefer the long posts method, I suggest checking the Theater and the University. The first one is our role-play forum and the second is for serious discussions. It's easy to make long post in those forums, though the answer time varies a lot. For role-play, if you get some active partners, it can go fast. The University is generally slower. Than again, with a little effort, almost all your posts in that forum can get you 100 silver. Just remember: NO SPAMMING!

  • Battling: Midorea possesses a nice little feature called the Battle System. In there, you can fight monsters to get experience for your character and silver, as well as some rare (or not so rare) items dropped by certain monsters. This strategy consists of spending as much time as you can battling. If you want to use it, I suggest you read the other article of this thread about character creation, weapons, healing and repairing your weapons. Note that, the amount of silver you get from battle is random, but is generally around 25 silver per kill. However, battling is fast and doesn't require you to wait for a reply or anything. It goes as fast as you can kill your opponents.
When battling, you also have a chance to get Bags of Silver from harder monsters. A Bag of Silver is an item that you can use. Simply go to your inventory and check the box beside it, then click use, and then open the bag of silver. From what I know, the amount of money you get is random, though it gets higher as your character level up.
Battling will also make your character stronger. And during special events, the battle system is often use for quests or to give certain items. Having a good character during those events will help you get more drops, that you can then keep for yourself or sell to other players, getting more money.

  • Selling: Selling is a nice strategy to use because it enables you to make a lot of money in a somewhat short period of time, depending of what you're selling. As on most avatar sites, you can sell art on Midorea, in the Art Shop forum. Be sure to read the rules in there before you set up a shop. There not complicated, but can get you in trouble if you don,t follow them.
The other thing you can sell are items. Of course you can sell common items that you no longer want, but it won't give you a lot of silver. The most efficient items for that are special items, in other words those that are only available for a short period, during events or at the Black Market, and the items you cannot buy with silver, the Ancient Relics available at the temple of gold. If you want and can afford it, you can buy spares of the monthly items and then sell them to other users. You can also just buy gold and sell it. If you don't want to spend real money, don't worry. You can make a lot of profit with items you can earn for free during events. Just try to get a set or more if you can, and keep them for later.
Midorea has a very little inflation rate, which means prices don't really go up as time passes. It's nice for buyer, but can be annoying to some sellers. Of course, with the constant arrival of new users and thus the augmentation of the request for rare items, the price will probably go up, but slowly. For really rare items, you'd be better making an auction and leaving people a few weeks to bid. Though this seemingly increase the inflation because the price you get can be way higher than the normal value, it also prevents people from buying your item for a low price and selling it for twice what they paid a week later. If you want to use this strategy, I suggest you check the Marketplace and the Official Midorea Price Guide.

The best strategy is probably a combination of those three bases, according to your personal taste. Posting is nice, but will get you nowhere if no one else is online when you are and you spend all your time waiting for answers. Battling can be fun and rewarding, but you will need some silver to start right, buy a nice weapon and heal your character. And selling old events items is a really easy way to make money, but you need to be able to get those items in the first place. Thus, you will need to get the event currency that is used to buy them, or the requested items if they are from a quest, and in the end you'll have to post and battle to get them.
The only thing to remember when you are new and don't have a lot of money it this: don't lose heart. Everyone here started with nothing, and the users that you now see wearing the most gorgeous clothes worked hard to get them. If you spend even just a few minutes on the site each day, you can make some money quickly if you use that time efficiently.

.:: Little Guide On How To Survive ::.
~ Part Two: Repairing your weapons ~

Now that you know how to heal yourself, you will need to understand how to repair your weapon in order to be successful in the battle system. Sure, you could just keep buying new weapons each time one breaks, but it's a really expensive strategy, especially when you use better, and thus often pricey, weapons. Don't worry though, repairing your weapons isn't hard at all. This article will try to explain you how it works as easily and clearly as possible.

First, you will need to get a repair hammer. After all, forging something with your bare hands wouldn't be that bright now, would it? To get a hammer, you'll need to go to the shops. You should know how by now. If not, just click the SHOPS tab in the header, and shame on you for not exploring the site more.

Ugh, anyway, you then hae a few options. The Newbie Store sells items for copper, including the very cheap Newbie Repair Hammer. It's not good, misses often, doesn't last long and doesn't restore much duration for each hit, but it's better than nothing. It costs 30 copper, so the equivalent 6 silver.

The other hammers are available from the Weaponsmith. There's a few out there, going from "pretty cheap but lame" to "pricey but powerful". For now, we'll concentrate on the Super Repair Hammer, which got a good duration and power for its price. Sure, it will cost you 400 silver, but it restores much more duration than any other hammer and seems to miss less often too. It will also last you longer.

Both hammers should give similar results. I personally prefer the Super Repair Hammer, because I feel it misses less often and repairs things more quickly. Then again, I can see why some people wouldn't want to spend so much silver on an item that will disappear from your inventory when you've used all its duration. If you spend a lot of time posting in the copper-earning forums (Fun&Games, Lyrics and Storybook) and have some patience, you could be better with the Newbie Hammer.

Now, having a hammer is necessary to repair your weapons, but it won,t do anything if you let it rust in your inventory. You,ll need to go to the Forge, which is accessible through the Town Place. There, you'll see a sign saying Repair an item. Click it. This will bring you to the repairing section of the forge. You should see two drop-down menu there: the top one for the tool, or hammer, you want to use and the lower one for the weapon you want to repair. Note that only the weapons that don't have 100% duration will appear on the list. So if your weapon isn't there, it's because it doesn't need to be repaired, not because you've lost it or anything like that. Select both items and then click the "Repair this item" button at the bottom of the panel.

A new page will pop up, telling you what happened. There are basically three messages you can get. The first one is what I call the "Congratulations!" message, telling you that your weapon has successfully been restored for a certain amount of duration. The second is the "You missed" message, when for some reason you missed your shot. This will take a duration off your hammer, but won't repair your weapon. The third message happens if your weapon is already at its full duration, and basically say that it doesn't need to be repair. If that's the case, just stop repairing and find something else to do.

Keep repairing your weapon until it has a good enough duration, or until it's full, or until your hammer break and you need to go fight to be able to buy a new one. It's as easy as clicking a button, even if it can be long sometimes, especially if you have many weapons to take care of at the same time.

Just two little thing to finish.
First, it is useless to repair some weapons. I'm mostly talking about the volleyball. See, even the cheapest repair hammer you can get will cost you the equivalent of 6 silver, while a volleyball costs 5. And you will most likely need more than one hammer to fully restore it. So just buy a new one. If your inventory gets full of used volleyballs, you can just delete them, they are useless.
Repairing is only useful for valuable weapons. I suggest always having a small weapon like the volleyball with you to take care of low-level monsters, and keeping a more powerful weapon for the bigger beasties. For example, I personally fight with a Tenro (katana worth 2000 silver) and a volleyball. I repair my Tenro whenever it needs to, and I just buy new volleyballs.
Second, when repairing an item, it is possible to go over the max duration of an item. The system simply forbids you from repairing a weapon that is equal or superior to 100% duration. This little trick can be useful if you know how to take advantage of it. For example, the Steorra Ventus, the fan from winter 2009, is extremely powerful but only has 10 duration. I used mine until it had only 1 duration left, then repair it (giving it 8 duration each time), bringing it to a really nice 17 duration. Doesn't seem like a lot, you say? Well, at that time, I hit around 20 HP with that little fan, so those 7 duration would give me 140 HP of damage. A nice little touch when you're fighting dragons and other strong beasties. Wink

I hope this has cleared most questions you could have about the repairing process. Again, if you have any question or comment, just post them here and I'll see what I can do. Thanks for reading and I hope you'll have fun with the battle system.
