| Dania looked up. Yes, it was the boy from the park, but that mattered least now. Who would take up the job of leading a whole company? Who would look after Dania? Her invisible mother? Or would she have to go to an orphange for the three remaining years of her life? Unless she pretended to be sixteen and got a job? But where would she live? Would they let her go to school if she didn't pay? Her hands trembling, she stroked the dog's fur. Animals were a great comfort in a crisis.

| 'H-he's dead,' Dania said. It was plain to see, but she felt like she needed her own voice to confirm it. He had gone so suddenly... She looked up at the boy. Why was he there? Did he have anything to do with this? No, probably not, otherwise he would have recognised her at the park.
Dania looked back down at the pale face, feeling numb as the tears kept blurring her vision. Finally, she managed to say, 'W-we must call the police! Or... or someone.' She buried her face in her father's jacket as a fresh wave of tears came.

| "Uh, maybe you should touch him too much," Hubert said. It sounded really stupid, but if there was any clue as to who had done that, it would be a shame to destroy them. "And we should go call the police," he added, feeling an urge to get out of the room. He didn't really want to force the girl to move though and, for some reason, he didn't want to leave her alone either.
"Hm, where's the nearest phone?" the boy finally managed to ask. They would be better to do something quickly, or so he thought.

| Dania managed to wipe away her tears, although her eyes were still red and puffy. 'In the living room.' She got up and led him there. She pointed to the phone, still not trusting her hands to be able to do anything steadily.

| A knock on the already open front doors alerted them of the police. She went down to greet them. She had applied some make-up to cover up her red eyes (not a very effective job, though). 'Hello, ma'am. May we see the body.' Dania gulped and nodded. The boddy. That was all her father was now.

| Hubert stayed out of the way of the policemen all the time they were around and let them do their job, keeping Colleen close to him so she would bother them either. He looked a bit at what they were doing though, having always wondered what a crime scene investigation looked like. Sure, he had seen some shows on TV about it, but being able to see a real one was... not that fun, after all. He wondered a bit what would happen to Dania after that, though he was too shy to ask her anything right now. It probably wasn't the best time to annoy her with stupid questions.
A police officer came toward him and asked him some questions, wanting to know why he was there and if he had seen anything. Hubert answered as best as he could, trying to make coherent sentences. Though he was sure what he said wasn't that clear, the policeman nodded and, after taking notes of the boy's address and phone number, he returned to where the others were and pursued his job. Hubert let go a small sigh of relief. For a few second he had worried that the policeman would have asked him to come to their office for something, and surely his parents wouldn't have appreciated that. He looked around, wondering where Dania was and how she was feeling. Though he had a pretty good idea she wasn't alright, considering the circumstances.

| Dania watched as the policeman marked her father's outline with a piece of chalk. It was funny to think that her father would have punished her for marking his expensive marble floor, yet the police did so as if it were the most natural thing in the world. She gulped down more tears, not wanting to embarrass herself in front of more strangers. One person seeing her cry was enough.
'We shall call on a proper investigator to examine this murder.' Dania blinked as the policeman spoke to her. 'We still don't know what to do about you, but how about for now you stay at a friend's house, alright?' She nodded.

| Hubert had found Dania close to the room where her father had been found. As he approached, he heard a policeman mentioned she could stay at a friend house for a few days, while they work in the mansion. For a fraction of second, he thought that the police officer wanted her to stay at his house, but he quickly chased that thought. Surely the girl had plenty of friends or relatives that could accommodate her for that time. And, after all, they had just met today and had nothing in common, so it was most likely that even if he offered it she would refuse.
Hubert readjusted his glasses on his nose and passed a hand through Colleen's fur. He turned his head as a clock rang, announcing it was already 5PM. He had been, and still was, shocked by the event to the point he had forgotten about time. He shook his head and, as he saw the policeman leaving Dania and returning to his work, he approached the girl.
"Uh, hm," he started, not really sure of what to say. "Uh, it's getting late and, uh, I need to return home soon," he said, thinking it was better not to mention his parents or anything in the situation. "So, uh, do you need anything?" He figured he would asked anyway, just in case the girl would have wanted something. Not that he could do much anyway, but he didn't want to look overly rude.

| 'No,' said Dania. 'I'm fine.' What a lie. Well, it wasn't like she could tell him that she wished he could stay and comfort her. What would her friends think of her then? They'd laugh at her for wanting the company of a complete stranger. She couldn't even remember his name. Since her father was married then everything, including his company, would go to his wife. But she had disappeared one night, and no one had found a trace of her. And if they couldn't find her thirteen years ago, then they probably wouldn't be able to find her now.
He stayed in the shadows, watching everything that was going on. He silently wiped the blood his dagger. Another successful murder. He slunk away without anyone noticing him. Yes, he was confident that he was the best killer there was.

| "Uh, alright then..." Hubert said. He didn't want to push the girl too much, though he felt kinda weird leaving her like that. She'll be fine, his logical brain said, but he still had some doubts, so he reached a hand into his bag and picked out a small notepad and pen he always kept close. He quickly scribbled his name and phone number on it, before pulling off the sheet and handing it to the girl. He blushed slightly and said: "Here's my number, in case you needed it." He didn't really know what else to say, so he just said farewell to the girl and, making a small sign for his dog to follow him, he exited the house, walking quickly to return to his home. For some reason, he didn't feel like staying outside alone, even with Colleen at his side, especially now that the sun was setting.

| Dania silently pocketed it. She felt numb. She fumbled around her other pocket to get her mobile to call her friend, Kathryn. But when she got it out it fell from her hands. She picked it up again, but seeing her father's pale face made her freeze. What was she doing? How could she just leave him there? He had been murdered. But why? Dania not only wanted to know who had killed him, but she wanted to know why. She took several deep breaths to try to clear her mind, but it was so dificult. A short man came and said, 'Hello. I am William Spocks. Specialist in murders.' Dania hardly felt as he shook her hand.

| ((Sorry for not replying sooner ))
Hubert arrived at his home shortly after. He was a bit surprised to realize how close Dania's house was to his, yet they had never met before. With a shrug, he pushed the large door and entered the house. A shiver went down his spine as he noticed how quiet it was. Not here too... he thought worriedly, still shaken by what had happened to the girl's father. He walked into the entrance hall, closing the door gently behind him.
"Oh, Hubert, I thought you'd come home earlier," Scott, the steward, said as he appeared in the kitchen's door. Hubert jumped, startled by the sudden appearance. He then placed a hand on his chest, trying to calm his now quite fast heartbeat. Collen barked in surprise too, but she then headed to the man and sat beside him, waiting to get pet. "Are you alright?" the man said, getting closer to his master.
"Uh, yes, yes," Hubert said. He didn't want to alarm the old steward with what had happened to him during the day. Plus, compared to Dania - and her father especially - he was going really well. "Sorry to have made you worried. I'll be in my room. Please bring my dinner upstairs when it's ready," he asked before heading up the large staircase and into his room, Colleen on his heels.
The boy entered his room and dropped his bag on the desk. He mechanically picked the dog's bowl and the lunchbox out of it, placing them on a small table beside his door for the servant to pick them when they deliver his dinner platter. He then rubbed a hand on Colleen's head. "It's been quite a day, eh girl," he said with a soft smile. He didn't know how he felt. Exhausted, for sure, and sad for the girl he had just met. He shrugged and chased his thoughts.
Grabbing a set of clean clothes, Hubert headed for his bathroom to take a good shower, hoping that it would relieve some of his stress. Colleen laid down beside the bathroom's door and waited for him to finish.
