| Team Up! - is a private 1x1 roleplay between myself and Arabesque. Please do not attempt to post but feel free to read along.
Arilyo held his breath as the challenging trainer commanded his Charmander to use Dig. If that landed, poor Raichu would surely be finished. And that would be the end of the battle for Arilyo. His belt felt weighed down by the pokéballs of his other pokémon - Shinx and Pichu whom he was currently training, so they had not taken part in the battle; Electrode who had fainted after a long first round; and Manetric who had been knocked out with a couple of swift Dig attacks.
Raichu squared himself as the Charmander burrowed through the dirt floor of the Mauville City Gym.
"Get ready ..." Arilyo called. Raichu crouched. It's ears twitched as it listened to the movement of the Charmander. Arilyo was poised too, his own ears straining to hear the tell-tale grinding of earth.
"NOW!" At this command, Raichu jumped as high as it could. "Use Shock Wave!" Arilyo instructed, his face becoming fierce with concentration. Raichu cried out and sent a pulse of electricity from its cheeks. It hit Charmander in the face as it emerged from the ground. "Now Body Slam!" Arilyo shouted. Raichu turned in the air and began to hurtle towards Charmander, striking it with immense force as it tried to regain balance. "Charry!" the young trainer screeched as he rushed to the fainted pokémon's side. Game over.
Arilyo shook the trainer's hand, then left the gym to head for the pokémon centre, which was just across the street. Raichu trotted alongside Arilyo, humming happily to itself. Arilyo took off his hat - an old-fashioned, beaten top hat that matched his Artful-Dodger-style outift perfectly - and slipped it onto Raichu's head. The orange pokémon gave a happy chuckle and proceeded to skip towards the pokémon centre.
Once inside, Arilyo handed the remaining pokéballs to Nurse Joy, who smiled and bowed to him, then attached the balls to the healing machine. Raichu showed off the hat to anyone that would look, prancing around the centre, waggling its tail and giving loud purring noises. The trainers smiled to see such a happy pokémon. Arilyo felt proud to own someone able to make others cheery in such a way. Although, to his disappointment, nobody tried to talk to the gym leader - he was awed throughout the city and the citizens feared him a little - he was content to know that the looked at him. In his odd clothing, he was noticeable anyway, without the reputation of a fierce gym leader. His long blue tail-coat covered a white shirt with the collar turned up and a maroon waist-jacket, around which his belt was fastened. To this, he clipped the freshly-healed pokémon. He thanked the Nurse and told Raichu they would be leaving now. Raichu gave a soft call and trotted to its trainer.
Suddenly, there was a loud crash outside, followed by a handful of screams.
((Gah, sorry it turned out so long o__o I got a little ... carried away with Arilyo >w<))

| ooc: It's totally fine. It gives me much to reply too~
bic:
Just as the crashing and screaming ensued, a young woman charged through the door of the Pokemon Center, her arms wrapped tightly around something she was holding close to her chest protectively. Her brow was furrowed (in frustration, probably), her pretty, heart-shaped face contorted in an expression that conveyed something like rage with perhaps a hint of fear. Her dark brunette hair, normally tied back neatly with a ribbon her older sister had given her, flew around her head in unruly waves as she practically threw herself at the counter.
"Heal him!" She snapped at the nurse, her voice surprisingly low as she carefully laid a Dratini across the counter. The Pokemon appeared to be poisoned and very near to fainting.
A Swablu and a Vibrava flew into the Center after the girl, seemingly just as frantic as their trainer.
The girl looked around the Center as soon as the nurse took the Dratini away, her sharp blue eyes homing in on Arilyo almost immediately. Without a moment's hesitation, she went to him, "You! You're the gym leader, aren't you?" She didn't wait for an answer, "There's a huge pokemon out there attempting to destroying the Game Corner and it looks like Team Magma grunts might be provoking it..." She glanced back at the Vibrava and Swablu, her brow un-furrowing slightly with concern, "They need healing...but I don't think there's time."
Stroking each pokemon on the head encouragingly, she turned back to Arilyo, "Come on!" And with that, ran from the center with her pokemon close on her heels.

| ((Sorry to have kept you waiting! 've been a bit busy :/))
Arilyo watched in disgust as a woman stormed in and snapped at the poor Nurse. She had been up on her feet, working all day and this woman had spoken to her in a very rude manner. Then she had the nerve to bark just as snappily at Arilyo! Without even a chance to reply, or to comprehend the mix of feelings inside him - later he realised, he had anger, confusing and a splash of admiration all at once - she dashed from the pokémon centre.
Arilyo didn't really have a choice - as the city's gym leader, the people relied on him to protect them from harm. If there was a rampaging pokémon, he could be sure to calm it. So out he stepped, Raichu prancing after him. His eyes met those of a large, white-blue pokémon, seething with rage and hurt.
Lugia.
Standing beside it, launching attack after attack after attack were three poochyena, and beside them were three short men, dressed in red hoodies and black trousers.
"Team Magma!" Arilyo yelled, "What the Hell do you think you're doing to that pokémon? Get out of my City!"
"Or what? Gonna throw badges at us, weirdo?"
Arilyo saw red. He drew two pokéballs from his belt and threw them in the air. From them, Electrode and Manetric appeared. The Poochyena turned, and the Lugia continued to cry and strike out.
((Sorry it's a bit short ;_; I didn't have loads of time.))

| The girl was unaware of the impression she had made on the Gym Leader, so focused was she on the task at hand. Lives were in danger--both human and Pokemon, alike.
As she charged off toward the building that the massive creature seemed so bent on destroying, she shouted commands at the Vibrava and Swablu that zoomed along at her side, "..Brava! Use Sandstorm! We must try to distract this thing! Blu! Protect both yourself and Brava, and be careful around that Magma scum..." And without another word, the girl ran into among the rubble and debris of the building, confident of her friends' loyalty and abilities.
Dangerous as it was, she could not wait outside as the creature continued to attack those within the building. Through the dimness and dust that had fallen all over the place, through the roars of the Pokemon and the resounding sounds of its attacks, the girl could hear her name being called by a small, frantic voice...
