| The website looks pretty well-kept, but I hadn't heard of it until you posted.
And honestly I feel like Malthea is dragging this out too long. Working up too much hype could hurt them in the end. I'll still check it out when it opens of course, but I doubt I'll join. I don't frequent many sites.

| Cys is pretty new and still needs many things to work on, but it is pretty neat and the avatars look nice.
As for Malthea I agree with you that they are too slow with everything, but at the same time it looks like there is going to be something promising.

| Worshiping pisses me off to no end. >_> Whether it's a staff member, a manga/anime translator, someone popular, or someone rich you always see this shit and I just wonder WHY? I don't understand what drives people to worship people that they've never met before, and for what? Most of the time it's noticed right away and the members begin to hate them.
For me, I don't care if you're the admin, a mod, a dev, or the freakin' president. If you're being an idiot, you WILL hear about it from me, and if someone's worshiping you, you'll get the critique all the worse. And I love how in some communities, if you make the smallest critique on the site the entire brainwashed userbase will attack you for having an opinion. People try to accuse me of flaming or even trolling. Really? Because I critique Cat the very same way that I critiqued you all, and she doesn't get her feelings hurt. I wonder why?

| whats worst is when the person being "protected" by their fans doesnt even WANT them to act like that. when theyre embarassed by it because they know the person crit'ing them has a valid point to make, but the mindless fans dont care, theyll go on a rampage even when the person theyre "standing up for" tells them not to.... x.x;;;

Reminds me of some people on DA...
A well-known deviant draws really cute chibi, and every time some other people post things that look even just slightly like it, a bunch of mad fans go on rampage to get that person's head... or they thing it's a mule account from the well-known guy, even if both accounts have pictures of their owner on the front page and one is obviously a guy, while the other is a girl... <_<
Funny and frightening at the same time.
But anyway, I think people just don't understand what a critique is. There's a difference between flaming and critiquing something, and a good critique is an awesome tool when you're trying to get better in something. So yeah, cheers to Chu!

i think you're quite right that a lot of people dont know the difference between a critique and an insult. it doesnt help that a lot of the users on DA are very young and have no idea about constructive arguments and feedback.... they just want to be told their pictures cute, hah.

| Basically, there was this Gaian who made cheap jewelry and such and sold it online. She pixeled a bunny rabbit made out of onigiri once and later down the road, Gaia released an item called Bento Bunny. She threw a fit and basically sicked all of her friends on Gaia screaming copyright infringement and got the item removed from the Cash Shop after only a day of being available. Finally, the item was put back and she was credited in the item description.
It was all such bullshit mainly because of this:
(The picture was on an unsafe website so I saved it to my computer rather than linking to it.)
She also previously sold some earrings and necklaces that used Gaia's old wing logo. Because of all the drama she caused over claiming infringement over a cheap idea (go ahead, search bento bunny or onigiri bunny - it's not a unique idea) she got a lot of hate, and her friends further bitched about that because "she didn't deserve it." She brought it upon herself.

i remember that 4chan got pretty angry with Gaia because of their longcat item XD
gaia basically does just do a lot of taking ideas from others tho, it seems.
but setting your fanbase on them is pretty silly... oh my
thank goodness i left the place ehehehe.
