Sex In the City confuses me...

I, well, I just don't get it! One of my female friends is absolutely obsessed with the series, and I just can't understand what is so enrapturing about it.
Being a female, I feel that I am missing out on something, but when I watch it, I think that (no offense) it is one of the dumbest shows out there! (I'm not counting reality television in that)
So please, if there are any female Midoreans out there that enjoy the show, could somebody explain what makes it so popular? I just don't get it!
