Somewhere to see the staff!

i think it'd be great to have a page where we can see which members are on staff and what role they play, cos i always think its nice to know whose working behind the scenes ^^ and this is such a lovely site, i think you must be working very hard to keep it growing all the time...

so it could show you their avatar, and tell you a bit about them n what they do so we can see admins, pixel artists, other artists, developers etc, and perhaps mods as well?

just a thought! ^^

I don't like the idea of emphasizing who's on staff or what they do. In my mind it puts such members in the spotlight and gives them unneeded recognition. If a staff member really wants their role to be explained they can put it in their profile. As far as the recognition goes, moderators need no such thing because they volunteer, and pixel artists/artists get it in credits in announcements and such.

And one thing that I like about this community is that there aren't any "groups" or "social classes". The staff members are just as much members as anyone else and while they have higher obligations, they often don't have higher rated opinions or perceptions. Having a page that basically praises the staff could even cause inflated egos (Yes, I've seen it on other sites.), which wouldn't be good for the community either. In short, I think it's best for us to blend in. We don't need the attention and I don't think praise is needed. >_> Plus the roles are pretty self explanatory.

Sorry if my post comes off as rude; I just don't like the idea of glorifying staff members because it only leads to brown nosing and inflated egos, and neither of which strengthen the community. Does that make sense?

but having read your thoughts there, i can see why you disagree with the idea, and it actually kinda makes sense to me XD

Yeah, and I understand the curiosity of the users too. It's just that I've seen sites where the staff members have gigantic egos and are completely glorified by the userbase to the point that they aren't even properly critiqued by them anymore. It just turns into the users worshiping the staff, and I'd hate to see that happen here. D: I'd honestly resign if it did. (Not the page; the worshiping.)

Haha, yeah. Sadly, I don't think any amount of maturity would keep someone from having even a slight ego boost from recognition.

Another issue that would bother me would be that I feel a list of staff members would kind of make them unapproachable in a sense. A "meet the staff" page basically tells me "meet the staff, because this is the only place where you'll learn more about them" on any website.

But yeah, in all seriousness, I like how things are handled right now. Still, even without a staff page, you can't deny that people will have a tendency to act differently around a mod.

Yeah, that's true, which is why I wouldn't adamantly oppose it or anything, because I know people will always regard staff members differently. It's just that a page feels like a little too much attention. ^^;

I didn't think Huzba was actually a member of midorea and technically staff, I just thought it was somebody Cat knew that she commissioned to make items when she didn't have the time. o:

The name is mentioned in the announcements that she makes, so I assumed that it was a username. Regardless, I consider that person a part of the staff because of their contributions to the website. XD
