new and confused

Midorea started in September '08, I think. There was a small beta test first, to make sure everything was working, and it opened officially Oct. 13th, '08.

So yeah, it's been around for a while... We just haven't gotten many members (around 3000 something now), and a lot of them are not active, so the forums are running slowly.

wow so this place has been around longer then ernya but not as long as mene and is slower then both of them. why do you think everyone is inactive? i personally love the art an everything for the avatars i think they look great! that is actually what drew me here a friend of mine was showing off all her avi's from different sites and the one that really caught my eyes was the avi for here.

Yeah, the avatars are really nice. It was the reason I joined, a long time ago...

Well, Mene got the users that were bored of Gaia and didn't like Roli and, if I remember well, Ernya was created by one of the pixelist from Zantarni or something like that, and Zan sent a mail to all their users to advertise for it, which obviously got Ernya a lot of member.

I think Mido is slower partially because the users here seem to be older than on other avatar sites, so a lot of them have jobs or go to college/ university and can't be here during the day, or not a lot. There's also the people who are on other avatar sites and would rather chat on those because the forums here are slow...

And I think I took some time before Midorea actually placed ads on other websites, so for a while the only people who knew about it were people who had friends on here or had randomly stumbled on the site like I did. Though, we've gotten a good mass of newbies with the ads. The only problem is that a lot of them went away when they realize the forums were not active or when the events ended...

i haven't seen any ads for this place i merely found out about because of my friend on mene.

well if they want active threads then they need to make more of an effort to participate! you aren't going to have active threads unless you have active users!

There are some on "pet" adoption sites (squiby and the like). Though of course we don't have as many as the bigger sites, simply because we have less people, and therefore less money, to pay for ads.

Indeed. I think it's why Cat added a little think on the index page saying that the site could only grow if it got help from its members. It's really sad to see the site become suddenly dead-like because the older users go away because the forums are slow and the slow forums make the new members run away...

why aren't the users more active? this is really sad i mean i don't know how they expect for it to grow if they don't chat around in the forums. i think the people need to make more of an effort!

Yeah, probably. I mean, since we are a small group, every little variation affects us. Like, on a site where there's always 20 people online all the time, if one of those people can't come on for some time for some reason, it doesn't matter much. But of course, on Mido, if there's only two people on and one of them can't be...

So as soon as people get problems in real life, or get busy with something, or just forget to come, it has a huge effect on the rest of the site. And it sucks... <_<

indeed. i am glad that you are at least on here with me. man i wish i new a bunch of people that where looking for a good site to chat on in forums and stuff cause i would direct them here in a heartbeat!!

well then you will probably see me here every morning the only other things i have going on is chatting on mene and ernya and right now ernya is so dead and i am just going to play games on mene right now and max my gold cause other wise i get to distracted to do anything else!

lol good then ^^ The only other thing I'm doing is working on a role-play and trying to understand the Tribes of Midorea, but it's not really distracting, so I should be able to keep chatting. ^^

yeah the whole tribe thing had me a little confused so i just went with the nomadic humanoids cause they had boost on all the stats and they seem to be the try to keep the peace people from what i could understand not on anyone's side

Yeah, nomads are good for newbies. That or the B'asat Iqui with the high strength and forge bonus.

I just wish we had more info about the tribes now ('cause I'm sure Cat will add some eventually)! If I'm going to use them in a role-play, I need to know more than what previous Earth they come from and what ancient races they are like...

There was a rumor that Cat would add more info about the tribes on the "Explore" page, and include them more in the battle system (with quests and things like that), but for now the only information we have are the thing on the story page, and it's really not a lot...

BRB, I need to get on my mule to check if the battle system gives the same definition...
