| when i last logged on a couple hours ago, i had over 190 ice shards, but now that i logged on, i only had 46 [i just got the other 20 from posting]...what happened to them? ):

| Sometimes it could just be a matter of a thread getting moved to a forum with a different (or no) currency. By looking at your posts though I doubt you broke any rules; you would've most likely been warned anyway.

| Okay, I bought a gift from the shop just now and it took the appropriate amount of shards.
Is it possible that you bought more than one gift when you visited? The white box above the buy button contains the number of items that you could buy, which starts as 0.

i put '1' into it just a when i first wanted to buy a gift and it sent me to a screen that said 'You cannot afford this item'...):

So when you first bought the item.. you had about 190 shards correct? The only thing I can think of is that you accidentally put more then 1 into the checkbox, and since you couldn't afford the extras it told you you "you cannot afford this action".
Pressing the "buy" button more then once like double-clicking can also do that.
Unless you tried to buy the gift after you "lost" the other shards, which is why it gave you that message..?
