I'll get something posted in a bit. I'm having a bit of trouble getting my muse to cooperate.

Yes, I know what you mean. My muse is constantly on the fritz lately. Not gone, but flickering back and forth like a faulty light bulb, sometimes shining with ideas and other times fizzling out in a most annoying fashion. ,:|

Nah, it's more like the muse is trying to send me ideas via train, but they keep chosing rail lines that have a tendency to detrail and explode shortly after leaving the station. And then the muse will just point and laugh. It's being that uncooperative.

Wow... That's a lot worse than my faulty light bulb muse. Neutral

Excellent!

I'll let y'all get some posts in before posting myself so I can get and idea of what's going on (which makes sense for Melody to recover a bit), and then I can get crazy and stuff. Kekeke.

Okay, my muse is totally not playing fair with me here. I start writing and everything seems to go well until it gets distracted by something shiney and wanders off to get taco bell, without me. So, I try going off of what the muse started. But, I'm left getting mad at my computer because there's nothing good on the screen in front of me. It's rather frustrating. If you want to post something, go for it. I'm thinking that I'm going to give up on this post if I can't get something out soon.

Meh, they ate them without me and left a bazillion wrappers in my car. You are more than welcome to hit the ludicrous speed button and zoom ahead if you'd like.

Quote:
For generations, the humans had modified the earth and used its resources to satisfy their needs and tastes. The massive abuses had created problems with the climate and weather. Realizing that this could result into problems for the humanity, some people started to make pressure on government and other people to force them to change their behaviours. With the time, the global mentality started to change, but it wasn't fast enough to prevent the worst. Recent scientific studies shown that even if people completely ceased their bad habits now, the earth as we know it could not survived, taking away the humanity with it. As an ultimate effort, a small team of scientists was created with one goal: making the human race better.

In December of 1999, while most people were worrying about the computer glitch and the end of the world, the scientists had their first meeting. They were ten, four women and six men, coming from all over the world. To help and guide them, three military agents were also there. They first agreed that they needed a special laboratory to conduct their experiments, which was gave to them immediately. A remote military in the north of Canada would be theirs, since it was far enough from everything that no one would think about going spy there. They also decided that the easiest way, or at least the most likely to success, was to modify DNA to include genes that would allow greater resistances to extreme climate, illnesses, air conditions... They would also receive all the help they need from the army. In exchange, the army had the right to use any discovery made along the way. They all moved to the lab and, by January 1st of 2000, they start working on their research.

In 2010, they thought that the experiments on mice and apes was good enough to start working on humans. Their researches had came to a point where they needed people to work on. Despite the obvious risks, the military head of the project agreed to that and started to think of how they could obtain "volunteers" for the experiments. For the result to be accurate, they needed to have people from all ages, men and women, with the most different genetic backgrounds possible. Though it sounded pretty simple, the actual recruiting process was a nightmare. And since the mutations were not controlled, it could result into important health problems for the test subject, including death... To avoid problems, they decided to take people who didn't have family and friends who could worry about them. That's when they decided to take orphans as their guinea-pig. Orphans were easy to get, and since children made good subjects due to their high cell-division ratio, it was the perfect solution.

Soldiers from all the countries participating into the project were sent to the local orphanage to take the most suitable children. They were then taken to the secret base, where they were shot with mutating formula and studied like mice. However, the scientists didn't fully agreed with that solution, thinking that the treatments reserved to the children wasn't human. They made pressure over the general in charge of the project, who agreed to making the life of the kids a bit better. They would be fed, dressed and taught like any normal child and will have the right to play with each other. On the other hand, they would have to participate in the experiment for at least one hour per day, and more when needed.

The results weren't too good for a number of year. Among the first group of children, almost none survived to this day. The mutations process proved to be way too hard to take for the young bodies of the kids. The scientists returned to their researches, trying to make it better. A second group of kids, selected in 2012, had better results. The children had better physical resistance than other kids of their age. However, some also developed other form of mutations that were not expected. The scientists started to study those, thinking it could lead them to a better understanding of how DNA worked. They took in another group of kids in every two years to test their new discoveries.

In 2024, while a new group of kids was taken into the research facility, the heads of the project decided that it was time to train the mutant kids and reintroduce them into the world. After all, the researches were giving better results with every new generation of subjects, so it was now time to see if those mutants would survived in the real world. They also have noticed that some kids outside the research institute were developing mutations, without anyone being able to explain why, and thought it would be a good way to study them. To achieve their new goal, they created a special school for the mutant kids, located in a small American town. The school looked like a normal private school, so the locals would not be afraid of it. And, of course, no one knew what the students were and they were not allowed to revealed it. The army could always keep an eye on them anyway, so there was no chance that something went wrong. Right?

Updating the role-play a bit. So yeah, anyone still interested to play? Hai

I'm still here! And I'm jazzed to see the role play revived in one way shape or form. I'll need to think about what my character has been doing for the past year before writing up a post.
