Lets talk about Startrek...

Because you know what? With the release of the new movie i need somewhere to nerd out and not have people look at me strangly. ;D

Here's a quick synopsis of my trek life.

Familiar Series: Voyager, DS9, Next Gen, Reboot, all the movies (including TOS ones), season 1 & some of 2 of TOS. (i'm not a fan of TOS to be honest, Shatner!Kirk is such an arsehole)
Favourite Series: DS9 & Voyager. :3
Favourite Character/s: Q & Gul Dukat. Because those two are too fucking awsome for words. <3 Seven of Nine is third on the list though.
Hottest Character/s: Seven of Nine, Jadzia Dax, Gul Dukat & Quinto!Spock.

Favourite Series: Voyager, but they're all good to me~
Favourite Character/s: I second Q! Just because of his EPICNESS. Followed by Neelix, Bones, The Doctor, and Data.
Hottest Character/s: I've gotta say Riker. Hubba hubba, amirite? xD Followed by Kirk probably because, come on. Kirk gets all the women, even if he's sleazy. But, I always thought Kes was adorable.

I have a thing for Ferengi's, I love those little buggers. That's part of what made me want to get into DS9. Quark. xD

To tell the truth, I haven't watched Star Trek before this. I recently went to an iMAX and saw the newest movie, so now I'm sort of hooked. I just have to find wherever those originals are hiding. >D

Familiar Series: The Recent Movie. Lots of neat graphics. x]
Favourite Series: Obviously, it'll end up being the original series once I FIND it. D<
Favourite Character/s: Hmm. =w= I'm not sure, to be honest. xD I love them all, so believable. Cx But I think it's Chekov, though. He was so amusing throughout the movie.
Hottest Character/s: Spock. He has pointy ears. Do I need explain further?

You've probally already seen this, but.. I just adore it. =w=

@ Glimpse ~ Well i can even you out! Because i'm the opposit. Sometimes i feel as if i'm too obsessed. I lost my virginity (both times) whilst Voyager was playing. *shrinks for too much information and rofls*

Q is infact undeniably epic. :3

I recently read a fanfic where he pretended to be jesus and stole some guy's shoes.

Riker is not my thing but i can see where your coming from. :3

Ewwww Kirk. D: That's the main reason i can't watch the original series i just want to stab him. *stabs with a pen* Generations was a good movie. And i cheered when George Kirk died in the new movie.

That being said nu!Kirk is alot less of a dick then Shatner!Kirk. So i dunno. *shrugs*

DS9 you have to watch in order or else you'll get lost. Since it's really really plot heavy. It's COMPLETELY differant from all the other startreks, as it's stationary position allows them to carry plot threads from one eppisode to the next, rather then having to drop everything everytime they leave a planet. Which is excelent since it gives it time to spend on character development and subtle building of senarios and tensions. It's alot more subtle and political then the other treks. :3

I'm like that with Cardassians. So i totally know where your coming from. That's one of the reasons DS9 wins out by a small margin over Voyager. Because it has lots of twisted, coniving, sexy as sin Cardassians walking around. *is a sad case*

Quark is fun. I love watching him and Odo snipe at eachother.

Eh, original series is highly overrated imo. The first two were the only real seasons, season three was just awful. There was a reason it was only three seasons. *is totally biast*

That being said the movies were much better then the series in my oppinion.

The eighties/ninties had the best trek. :3

Chekov is fun. I really liked that they based his new look off the navigator in the pilot rather then the real chekov. The new one is kinda adorable in a kicked puppy kind of way.

I think the movies were better than the original series, too - if only because the show got a little predictable after a while. And you reminded me of my reaction to hearing the name "Kim Kardashian" I thought, 'oh my goodness her last name is "Cardassian"? I wonder if she knows how hilarious that sounds.'

& Heyy you haterrr xD I liked the actor who played Kirk, he did a pretty good job! He was like a mini-Shatner only younger, with more moxie. And when I first saw Chekov in the movie I immediately thought of Wesley. Me and my sister were like, "Ew it's mini Wesleyyy" but he was adorable, so it was all good~

Now I can't stop thinking about how Q would totally pretend to be jesus and steal someone's shoes! D: That and your link, Eskimo - I never watched that before.

Definatly true. Though the original series did have some helarious plot lines. Some of the shit that is cannon back then makes me laugh to consider it. xD

Also Chris Pine (new kirk) unlike Shatner he isn't irredemably pretencious, biggoted and priviledged. Which means i only dislike him rather then hate him. ;D

One of the things that allways got me about Kirk is that he's such a biggoted, arrogant arsehole and the whole -world- galaxy throws itself at his feet. Where as new Kirk got beaten up, rejected and failed to get laid. So i'm feeling more charitable towards him.

What got me was that whole Kirk is soooo shagging McCoy at the academy undertone. ;D

That sucks! I own alot of the tapes. During the switch to dvd i went to video stores and bought as many ex rentals as i could afford for like $1 each.

But because of that (and my limited budget) i've an incomplete collection. Which makes me sad. : (

Off the topic of startrek: I saw David Nykl at GenCon last year and got a hug. <3 He's short, and sexy. Even without the accent. *looks around shiftily*

Ahhh, Nemesis is my mother's fav startrek movie! I don't really have a fav, maybe the new one or First Contact. Also generations holds a special place in my heart for previously stated reasons.

LOL, but it's allright to fangirl out. Because he's been doing conventions for like 3 decades and would be completely used to it. ;D

Stargate Atlantis. : ) Radek Zelenka. He's my shared favourite character (the other/s are Rodney Mckay, Baal and Vala Malduran) from that franchise.

I don't know any of the series' well. I have seen little of Next Generation, various episodes of Enterprise which I actually begun to get into but then they removed it from Saturday nights at 11 from UPN or CW.

My late father was a huge fan of Voyager and watched it frequently when I would stay with him, but I don't remember much now, I don't even remember names anymore except my dad's favorite character Seven of Nine.

That is all I have seen, but my mom did take me to see the new movie that just came out and I very much enjoyed it. After that I did manage to see one episode of the original series because my mom put it on. But yeah, I thought the movie was very good, the actors were well chosen and there were even some humorous parts.
