Moonlight Way, a bar set on the beach. It's like every other bar along the gulf coast, but with one small difference...It houses a portal to the Other Realm, guarded by the Goddess Hekate.

It sits on the beach and from the outside appears to be like any other bar on the beach, but it holds a secret that the owners have killed to keep. It is the doorway to the other realm. The other realm, home to all the things that go bump in the night. It is also a safe haven for all the things that go bump in the night: vampires, were-wolves, deamons, etc.

The Characters:
lavndrdream wrote:
Name: Hekate
Species: Goddess
Gender: Female
Appearance: Because of her three forms, her base form changes often. Most of the time she can be seen as a woman in her late twenties, with long black hair that falls to her waist with not twists or turns. The only consistency are her golden eyes which are deeps and haunting.

Personality: Watchful, Hekate does not believe in directly involving herself in the buisness of mortals, she tends to keep to herself, but she can be outspoken and daring when needed. She is also vengeful and her wrath can be quick and deadly.

Background: Hekate was the daughter of Perses and Asteria, she never married or had a regular consort. The monster Scylla was said to be her child.

Name: Petronius
Species: Werewolf
Gender: Male
Appearance: As a wolf, his head sits at Hekate's waist. He is a large grey timber with silver eyes. As a human, he stands over six foot tall with platinum hair and silver eyes. He appears to be in his early 30's , but only he knows his true age.

Personality: Petronius is outgoing, always flirting with the ladies. He means nothing by it, is just part of his canine personality. He is guarded around strangers, especially males, until he gets to know them. He never really opens up to anyone except Hekate.

Background: A Roman courtier, he wrote a book that offended the goddess and she cursed him to become a creature from the book. He has served her since.

Tsuralin wrote:

Name: Isla
Species: Selkie
Gender: Female
Appearance: In her human form, Isla has brunette hair down to her waist that is slightly wavy. She has soft brown eyes and a pretty, oval shaped face. She is thin and stands at about 5'6". Overall, she has a very pretty, but very plain appearance.

Personality: She is very soft spoken and quiet, being on the shy side. She is also very polite and tries to cheer everyone up, even if she's in a little mood. She cries easily, though not often.

Background: Isla had fallen in love with a young sailor, who had taken her pelt and hidden it from her, causing her to live with him. However, he and the pelt were burned in a fire, rendering her unable to go back to her watery home. She was standing on the shore of a loch, sobbing, when she came across Muir, who took her under his wing and made himself her protector. The two have been inseparable since.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Name: Muir
Species: Each Usige
Gender: Male
Appearance: In his equine form, Muir is a white steed standing at around 17 hands. In his human form, he is a striking young man with mid-back length blond-green hair (which has seaweed in it), red eyes, high cheek bones, and pointed teeth. He stands at around 6'4" and stockily built. He is always scowling or grimacing and is fairly intimidating.
Personality: Muir is a difficult individual to get along with. The only person he seemingly cares for is Isla, whom he's very over-protective of. To her, he is sweet and patient. To everyone else, he is rash, hot-tempered and intimidating. He argues regularly, and when he's not arguing, he's stand-offish.
Background: Muir had lived in his loch for thousands of years, his life undisturbed. Day in and day out he would lure men, women and children to into his loch, feast upon them, and leave their livers. One day, he came upon a sobbing Isla, contemplated tempting her, but thought differently when he discovered she was not a human. Once he heard her story, he took mercy on his fae brethren and became her protector.
Isla stood on the shore of the ocean, looking out at the water. She sighed and teared up a bit as she listened to the waves hit the shore. No, she wouldn't cry. Crying would help nothing and would probably cause Muir to become frustrated with her. But how could she not feel depressed when she looked out at a place that reminded her so much of a home she was unable to return to?
Sighing again, she turned and made her way back to where she had come from: a beach bar. She still wasn't quite sure how they had gotten there. Muir had said something about a portal of some sort, but she didn't understand the specifics of it all.
Once inside, she waited the half second it took for her eyes to adjust, then made her way to the bar where Muir sat. He picked her up gingerly and set her in his lap. Years ago, she had found this kind of thing weird, but now, she was accustomed to it. "I can protect you better if you are with me than if you are even a foot away," he has explained when she'd questioned him. It had made sense, so she didn't question any further. She situated herself a bit more comfortably and looked around. There weren't many people here, that she could see, and she was relieved. She disliked being in the company of too many people. Not only did it make her nervous, but it also irritated Muir, which was something that she didn't like to see. When he became irritated, he usually took it out on someone. It didn't matter who it was, but it was always someone. Fortunately, it was never her. And she was confident that it never would be. He had promised those many years ago to protect her and never harm her, and she trusted him.
She leaned back against him and looked up. "What shall we do now?" She asked quietly.
Muir shrugged. "We wait, I assume."
Hekate strode into the bar and looked around. She could sense the presence of so many different creatures. She knew the humans only saw the human appearance of the creatures, but she could see through all the glamours. She stopped at the end of the bar and tapped. The man behind the bar snapped his head up. She inclined her head to where a woman was sitting on a man's lap. She knew what the man was, but the girl's aura was off. She normally didn't care what happened outside the bar, but having human flesh washing ashore wouldn't be good for buisness.
Petronius looked to when his mistress indicated. He didn't know the two people but he could smell horse on the man and something salty on the girl, though he wasn't sure what it was. He wouldn't hesitate to do his mistress' bidding. There had been many a time when a patron was sitting calmly to suddenly be attacked by a three hundred pound wolf.
Hekate walked over to the couple and smiled. She leaned forward and breathed into the horse's ear. "You do anything along my beach and I'll skin you and wear your pelt as a skirt," she rose and smiled again. "Are you two enjoying yourselves?"
(Sorry, it's a bit aggressive, but Hekate takes no chances with her bar, and since she doesn't know they are friends, she'll operate on the assumption of what he is)
Isla smiled as a woman came over to them. She was momentarily confused when the woman bent down and said something to Muir, but decided to ignore it when the woman spoke aloud to them both.
"Oh yes ma'am, we--" She started, but was interrupted by Muir angrily rising to his feet, somehow deftly tucking her up under his arm like a sack in the process. Dazed, she stared up at Muir. His eyes were blazing and his sharp teeth were bared. Oh boy, she thought. He's angry.
"You have some nerve to threaten me, woman," he growled. He could sense that there was something different about this woman, but what it was, he couldn't really tell, nor did he care at the moment.
Nervously, Isla reached up and pulled at the hem of Muir shirt. "Ah, Muir. Settle down. We don't need to cause a scene, and it wouldn't be wise to start a fight in the bar. If it's that important to you, we can just leave. Besides... you're starting to hurt me a little."
The each usige looked down at her for a second, then gave the strange woman a hard glare before sitting down again and putting Isla back in his lap. She looked up at the woman with an apologetic smile. "I apologize. Muir has a bit of a temper."
Hekate watched the scene between the horse and the woman. It was obvious there was a history between the two of them. When he bowed up to her she was tempted to show him exactly who she was. She hated being thought to be a weakling. Most of the regulars knew who she was and left her alone.
Petronius had jumped the bar when the man had stepped up to his mistress. He could feel the wolf rising in him. He stood on the edge as he waited for Hekate to tell him what she wanted him to do. When she waved him off, the let the wolf go back to sleep, but he did not move.
Hekate smiled and bowed her head. The only inclination that she was sorry. "Stay," she said waving the two back down. "Petronius fetch these two whatever they wish, on me."
Petronius glared, not really liking the idea of the man staying, but he did his mistress' biding.
Hekate smiled at the girl. "No worries. Most here have a temper," she offer her hand to the man and the girl. "Most call me Kat."
(I'm sorry it took so long, my schedule went weird when I had to work 3rd shift and I'm just getting back to right)
Isla bowed her head. "It's a pleasure, Kat. I will try and keep my friend under control." She chuckled lightly. "You know how hard-headed they can be, I assume. Men, I mean." She took Hekate's hand gently and gave it a small shake, as she assumed that was the reason the women held it out to her. Afterwards, she turned and ordered a water from the bartender.
Muir, however, was not so easily subdued.
"What is with you, woman?" He demanded. "You are not like the others. You are different, and very much so. Explain yourself!"
"Oh Muir, please control your temper. We don't want to anger anyone," Isla begged her companion, shooting Hekate a look of apology
((Sorry that took forever. Lots of stuff going on around here, and I'm getting ready to go on vacation, so my next reply might be a little delayed as well.))
