While I say it feel like a scratchwound he said it felt like cutting himself with a razor blade. XD
And yeah the first few strokes are a bit like they make you think, dang! But not really bad or anything, and yeah the skin gets deaf, I guess from the tremor of the needle. Also I find that filling in a tat is less painfull then the lines. XD |
I don't actually feel the pain. My boss, however, just got his first tattoo and described it the same way as your fiance did. :P
The filling is less painful than the lines because the lines are pressed deeper into the skin to prevent "bleeding" of the color.

| Wow... I am late on this topic. XD I have no pictures (yet), but I will most definitely have some up.... at some point in the very near future.
I have a grand total of 21 piercings, and 7 tattoos. Two of those tattoos were designed by Kaishi, even though she likes to try and deny their existence. I may go ahead and take those pictures tonight, then post them... We'll see. :3

| Gryphon, I swear those all look EXTREMELY painful. D: The one on your chest looks fantastic though, really great! I've got to wonder if it hurt the most.
A teacher I had a little while got branded and showed me. I freaked out so badly. Honestly, my reaction was a bit embarrassing. I just didn't think people did that anymore, that's all.

The chest one hurt the most, took about 5 hours.
But the brand pain lasted longer. Once a week I would have a friend come over and cover it with salt to keep it from healing fast. That was worst than any of the other pain.
I designed my own tattoos, with some input from the tattooist.

| Oh really? You're pretty good at designing tattoos; I like them all. (: But I can't imagine getting a tattoo done for five hours straight. I hope he let you take a break after a while, just because it seems like the humane thing to do. x)
& Yikes, I can imagine the brand would hurt a lot longer than the rest of them did. I'm just curious, if a brand heals up too quickly what would happen? Technically, I thought you'd want it to heal up as quickly as possible.

| There were several brakes, one after the outlines, one after the shading then an extended on as we talked more about colors.
If the brand heals too fast it won't leave a nice scar. So you do things like soaking in hot water and removing the scab (don't want to pick it off because that could cause uneven scaring) and then putting salt or something small (many African tribes used ash) to aggravate the wound.

| The one on your chest looks crazy cool. I looks like it is literally popping out from your chest. Is it just the angle?

| I do not know if I have responded to this before.
I have seen some nice tattoos in this thread though. Unfortunately I do not have any myself. I would like to change that one day, but it's just not in the cards for me right now.
That being said, I have drawn some tattoos and I just got a request from a co-worker to draw another one. That's what I should be doing right now, but I'm exhausted. I'll get to it a little later.
What she wants is a treble cleft and bars that incorporates either a rose or stars. I'm going to see if there is someway that I can do both. It will take some experimenting, but I think that I can do it.
