| Recently I had a friend who recently went to Brussles and one of the things he saw in the generic tourist trip was the famous Manneken Pis
and he said it was a big disappointment! it was only 60cm tall... and as iconic as it is... it looks not as impressive when you visit it in person.
So I replied to him about the Baths of Aphrodite in Cyprus, it's a ankle deep pool and I just hope her lover's bath is better! and after sweating more than an Hyperhidrosis pig on Mercury you can't even take a dip or drink it (well, you can't drink it as it's non-portable!) Still looked good though... and gave me a few Ideas for drawings and the like...
So I wondered: Has anyone else been disapointed when visiting famous or supposed beuty spots? If so share with us!

| I have visited some interesting places, the great wall, many of the temples in China, lots of places in Japan and many US landmarks. Each no matter how lame or misrepresented has added another check in my things to do during my life time check book.
The worst out of them all had to have been when we drove to the eastern most point of the US...it was a sign on the side of the road. In Main in the rain and we had spent the time driving to it.
I have however hit many an interesting tourist trap. The worst was the Stage show we saw in China... I being a theatre major was expecting some thing well theatric like say Peking Opera... Nope was a subtitled what you can do with Hydraulics, moving lights and shirtless men. The latter of course was ok but then you tossed in The Tourists and it was a bit of a why did we do that >.<

| I've been pretty lucky in this respect, most of the places I've been to lived up to the expenctations.
The only time I was slightly disappointed was on that afternoon our class spend in Venice. The air was hot and moist, and a bit smelly too, the whole place was filled with tourists and I constantly feared a pick-pocket would rob me(not that I had anything valuable with me, but still).
And on the Piazza san Marco there were so many doves o.O
Of course that's what you expect from Venice, it's in all the pictures, but there were literally thousands of them and any minute I expected them to shit on my head xD

Ahh... Ever been to London? I did to tour Parliament, and my goddess! Not only was our tourguide crap, but also there were so many Pidgons nicking our lunch and way too many shady characters for my liking!

| A few years ago I went to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It was June or July but it was FREEZING, lines were very long and there were huge crowds of people. When we finally got to the top the view was nice, but it wasn't worth it.
