The Skyport [Open]

Roleplay: Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Pirate
Location: A moving sky port, currently located about the expansive and arid plains of the southern continent.
Time: Many centuries post apocalypse.
Number of Joined: (To be updated)
Open/Closed: All welcome! (:

Notes: Please follow the usual rules of the site, and treat others with respect and politeness. Respect the usual courtesies of roleplaying; don’t power play or godmode. This sort of genre of roleplay leaves a lot of room for imagination and originality! So try not to follow anything to mainstream. There is a sort of semi-lit boundary in terms of writing style, but typos are always forgivable!
Please try to keep a balance between male and female and antagonists and protagonists.

I'll post a main plot or story arc as soon as we have enough players.

Skyport:

Boots clang off the metal deckplate in a rhythmic drum, the crowd mingling in the evenings gathering twilight begin to move off towards the inns at the fringes of the docks. The blue-haze of halogen lights eventually flickers into life, illuminating the webs of walkways, bridges and rigging netting the entire massive structure together and giving the whole place a chill aura. There’s no warm glow here, sparks are the enemy of sky faring folk, with such a heavy dependence on hydrogen gas and highly flammable fuels. The drumming of feet and shouts of trading wares and passage, the colourful exchange of all sorts of items from every corner of the globe soon gives way to the gentle murmur of talks in the taverns. The great mechanical beast floats high above the plains, pulling along the smaller contraptions tethered to it and leisurely making its way around the globe, gathering travellers of all nations to it. Skyport is a free port and as such has no allegiance with any of the nations bellow ground, and allows all manner of folk aboard so long as they have a means of getting there in the first place. The only people refused birth aboard skyport are of course...pirates.

Location

There are several “areas” in the skyport that you can use, if you have an idea for a new one please PM me! (:

The Docks- The docks run through 1 to 27 in a ring around the main hub of Skyport. The docks are mainly for quite small ships though there are a few slightly larger ones.
The Balcony- There is a small balcony on the northeast side of the main complex, spectacular views. The only place with plants as very few can withstand the winds and altitude.
Nuts n’ Bolts- A shop that trades in parts and old tech that can be used mainly on airships, generally the place to go if you want anything advanced.
Annie’s General Store- A general store for supplies, clothing, first aid equipment etc.
Medics Bay- A small bay that will tend to travellers ailments for a small fee.
The Aeronauts Boots- A tavern with a very amiable owner who keeps the place clean, tidy and warm. Offers rooms for a relatively low charge.
The Black Stallion- An inn, well known for drawing a certain inhospitable crowd. Very cheap ale, runs a black market for stolen goods.

Characters:

NPC’s: As a rule of thumb, NPC’s can be made by anyone and within reason used by anyone. These can be any random people from crowd members to random observers etc.

Secondary Characters: These are characters that add to the scene, extra guards, tavern masters, shop owners etc. It would be very useful if people could take these on and use them if the scene requires them, of course sometimes compromises have to be made...but we’ll jump that hurdle when we come to it! (:

Pirates: Naturally, although unwelcome will always slip through. More infamous pirates will find it much harder to get past the guards.

Guards: Skyport runs under the government of the Counsel. To increase security they have appointed the Guard to watch the docks.

Possible Characters:

Captain of the Guard (Open)
Head of the Counsel (Open)
Pirates (Open)
Black Market Runners (Open)
Aeronauts (Open)
Mech Hunters (Open)
Tavernmasters (Open)
Thieves (Open)
Engine (Open)
Hands for hier (Open)
Travellers (Open)
Captains (Open)
Messengers from Ground Nations (Open)

Of course, don’t feel like you have to stick to this!

Please do a quick bio of your first and main character to join. Please feel free to create more characters along the way, but for now let’s start with one.

Have fun!!

I didn't know what character to go with, so I hastilly picked this one. Please forgive me if I move on to something different!!
For now:...
Name: Kestrel
Age: 15, though is quite immature.
Class/Job: Sky pirate, low rank.
Notes: Owns a sky board, a coverted and expensive piece of equipment by anyones standards, but not much else. Loves danger and the thrill of the chase. Joined a pirate ship to see the world.

"Give us the necklace kid..."
Growled one of the port guards, advancing slowly on her with his hand outstretched, other hand resting on the butt of his pistol.
She looked about, faking nervousness, holding onto the necklace tightly. Her arm was wrapped around what looked like a thick plank made out of bolted metal with a strange mass of cogs and fans on one end.

There was a suspicious looking bulge under it and a few small buttons. She backed away to the barrier, the metal of the port base clanking underneath her iron toed boots.
"...What...this...?"
She shakilly climbed backwards atop a crate, waving the countess’ gold necklace infront of their red faces.

The ring of four or so guards grumbled and snarled, closing the circle tighter about her.
Without any further ado she somersaulted backwards off the end of the pier, dropping from the sky port like a stone. The air ripped past her as she gained speed, accelerating so fast she nearly lost grip on her board. The ground was rushing up fast and the skyport was rapidly being pulled away above her with its little orbital pattern of circling ships. Kestrel accelerated downwards, the force of the wind and the fall tugging her in all directions. Keeping a tight grip on the board in her hand she managed to outstretch her fingers. She flipped a switch on the back of the board and jammed it to the bottom of her boot, mid-freefall. It shot appart flicking into a narrow skyboard. Kicking the motor with her heel a sail shot up and her freefall was slowly reversed. Grinning manically she turned tail and flew straight back up towards the gathering, skimming over the heads of the guards, blasting past them with a whoop and scream of excitement, heading straight for the sky ship.
The guard shook his fist at her and her foreign techonology.
"/Blasted/ sky pirates!!" He shouted as she disappeared over the top of a few market stalls, narrowly missing an over hanging walkway.

Name: Dayvia Lothen
Age: 27
Class/Job: Sky pirate, Captain of the Black Falcon
Notes: A notorious pirate, she is feared by most honest traders and respected by those who are less then honest.

Dayvia stood on the bride of her ship, her feet planted as she watched one of the pirate polish the stainless. She was proud of her ship, and her crew. Stepping forward, she listened to the sound of her boots tap against the metal decking.

Pushing open the door, she entered her quarters and looked around. Frowning, she wondered where her cabin girl was. Sighing, she exited back onto the deck and looked around. "Have you seen Kestrel?" she asked.

The pirate shook her head. Looking around, Dayvia squinted as she saw a small object zipping through the sky. Shaking her head, she headed toward the airlock and her wayward protege.

((I jump in!))

Kes flew over the ship at full pelt before leaning into the wind and bringing the board round to the airlock. She barely slowed down as she sped into little ante chamber in the ships underbelly, eventually haulting to wait for the mechanism to release.

Knowing she'd been told off before for using the skyboard about the deck she quickly jumped off it and collapsed it with a flick of a switch, it was now just under a foot long and a few inches wide. Dropping the rather heavy plank into the bag around her shoulders she launched into a run to find the ships Captain. She still had the necklace clutched in her left hand.

"Captain!!" She shouted over the engine bay, skidding to a stop on the newly polished metal underfoot. The air lock had to be located in the engine bay to save on space and keep the power going to it, but it did make it extremely noisy. "Captain Lothen..?" She asked uncertainly, trying to ignore the venomous looks shot her way by the engine crew who hadn't been allowed to vacate the ship on this short stop.

Finally spotting the captain she ran over to the woman, panting a little. "H-here!!" She said triumphantly, holding out the golden necklace stamped with an eagles crest for her to inspect.

((Welcome!! (: ))

Dayvia shook her head at Kestrel. She did have a way of ticking off the crew members, but she was bright and willing to try. It was why Dayvia had taken the young woman under her wing, so to speak. She said nothing as she inspected the necklace. It was a lovely peice, too bad the crest would make is hard to sell.

"Good work, Kes," she said. She threw her arm around the girl and held out the Necklace. "How much do you think it's worth?" There a lesson here to be learned by the young woman, and Day was going to teach it.

(hope you don't mind if i join in, this looks like fun!)
Name: Caroline Myth
Age: 17
Job: Ladies Assistant (Provides women with help for such things like dressing, makeup, and hair in their own homes for a fair price)
Personal Info: Caroline is a sickly pale girl who is more obsessed with ballet than a squirrel is with nuts. She lives in a tiny apartment near the ports and offers her services to wealthy lady travelers in need of looking good for a party or things of the like.

Caroline walked down the platform to a new arriving passenger ship, her large makeup and hair box on her back. She sent her supplies on the ground and placed out her sign near where the travelers getting off would be bombarded by other small stand owners trying to sell useless junk, the only difference was that she wasn't useless. She had kept her eye on the ship scheduled to port over the next month and this was suppost to be a cruse ship. She sat and waited watching ships of all sizes fly over Skyport, in their many colors and shapes. One might think they were having a parade.

She turned to the crowd of traders looking ready to pounce any moment like trading dogs. Caroline couldn't help but wish for something more exciting than the possibility of one of the traders being smacked around by some rich folk butt with the amount of guards around here that didn't look like it was going to happen soon.

((Hope you don't mind me))
name: Captain Dazereth (Daz)
age: 26
appearence: Shoulder length messy black hair, usually covered by his black captain hat with gold crest. Electric blue eyes, and very defined facial features. he is 6 feet flat, and more skinny than muscular. Usually wears his captain's outfit, which is black gold and white.
class/job: Captain of guards
notes: he is very serious about his job because his father was once captain and fell off the balcony while trying to capture a pirate. He is almost always stone faced and rarely shows emotion.

Dazereth stood up abruptly from his Captain's chair. "You let another one get away?" he asked one of the guards who responded, "It wasn't our fault, she had a skyboard." The guard's response angered Daz, but he refused to let it show in his features. "If it's not your fault, then who's fault is it? Are you trying to say it's my fault?" Before the guard could respond Daz dismissed him with a wave of his hand.

He needed to devise a better plan to keep out pirates. The pirates always seemed to have the upper hand. At that moment the perfect idea came to Daz's mind. The guards always sat around and waited for the pirates to come to them. But what if they eliminated the pirates before they even accessed the ship. It was genius.

Quickly he made his way to one of the ports. He needed to find the perfect man to fill out his new plans and it wouldn't be easy.

Caroline watched as the passengers of the ship pass and the women quickly walked past her in favor of the was trinket stands. She sighed heavily and looked back into the crowd when she noticed something far off. It seemed to be a member of the guard but from the distance she couldn't tell. Her heart nearly skipped a beat with the tought of the guard comeing down to the ports. Did this mean that there were pirates about? Maybe a battle would take place and she would have a front row seat! She nearly gigled in excitement but quickly composed herself as a woman to interest in her services.
