| If I were you, I'd trust my gut. >> That sounds pretty real to me. Even if you couldn't necessarily see what it was. And spirits like that that stick to you can be dangerous. You're actually kind of... lucky.

| I know.
For that first night and a few days after I had the hardest time breathing. Its presence was in the back of my neck and lower spine. I had dreamless sleep for a few weeks after that and thats wierd for me.
I don't understand much about ghosts, and things like that just that they can do alot of really physical things...
I thank my lucky stars I'm unscathed.

| Yeeeeeeeeeah. Also, cause of your bloodline you're probably more sensitive to it than others may be. x.x It wasn't THAT long ago that people came over to colonize the western world. And like... a lot of Native American people practiced spiritual magic of some kind.
So... I don't know where your ancestors stemmed from, but I'm betting you probably have some in you. x.x

| Yeah.
I'm a Blackfoot, northwestern region of the united states.
I later learned that people were notorious for going down there and playing with dark magics. It was a really heavy occult region I suppose. I don't know why my mom failed to notify me of this... something about a learning process?
I don't like any of the dark magic, dark spirit stuff. Ouja boards, terot cards, stuff like that. I've had bad expierences revolving around them, when in fact I've never actually had first hand expierences, except playing go-fish with terot cards.... :3

| I only tried a ouija board once. People keep saying that you can bring demons into your house when you use a oujia board. I don't think it's true.

| I'm a pretty firm sceptic, but then I've never had any experiences I couldn't explain.
The closest I've come to seeing a ghost or anything I can't explain is seeing small lights around me. This happened quite often (probably 6 or 7 times, once each on non-consecutive days) for a period around my 16th birthday. I could be anywhere, doing anything, when my attention would suddenly be attracted by a small light, appearing spherical and ranging in size from the head of a pin to about the size of the nail on my little finger. It would drift through the air slowly, usually around my head height, for 1 to 3 seconds, then disappear. I could see them if I looked directly at them or if I looked away and only kept them in the edge of my vision.
I have various explanations for them, although of course I can't be sure what the truth of the matter is. They could have been motes of dust catching the light (but I doubted that for the frequency of their occurrence, the differences in lighting in the places I was when I saw them and the regularity of their shape), or simply a product of my stressed and overworked mind (much more likely since I was going through a period of important exams at the time, but I don't think it really explains the one I saw on the morning of my 16th birthday when my exams had been over for a week and I had just woken up, so was well-rested).
The only person I told about them, my mum, suggested that perhaps they were a sign that my dad, who died when I was young, was watching over me at a difficult time.
I've been interested in ghosts and the unexplained in general since I was a kid. I wanted to believe back then, but couldn't without seeing something really unexplainable with my own eyes. I've come to have an interest in paranormal phenomena as something that I want to explain. If science doesn't know why yet, I want to find out. That's not very likely, though, so I'll settle for just hearing about it when they do find out. :D I think there are things that can be explained scientifically that we haven't even dreamt of yet.
I've never been ghost hunting or used a ouija board, but I would like to some time. I'd like to push the boundaries of what I know about the world. I guess I feel that all beliefs - even my strong belief in science's ability to explain the world - should be tested. :3

| I am glad you all are sharing your experiences! It makes me feel less like a fool.
I used a Ouiji board with my friend who goes ghost hunting with me (the one who is sensitive to those sort of things). I didn't believe anything could come out of it, honestly. I'm still not sure it was the board that did anything, or if it was just my friend.
But we went to a small graveyard which was very close to my apartment with a third friend of mine. Together we all sat around it and set a hand on it. We began by just asking vague questions: was anyone around? Did anyone want to talk to us. Simple things like that, not taking it too seriously.
Well, it began to get serious. My friend's head sunk down so that her chin was digging into her chest and her eyes were closed the entire time. If it was a hoax she would have had to know the Ouiji board by heart to be able to move the peice so quickly and certainly. The third person even stopped playing at some point, so I know it wasn't her, and it sure as hell wasn't me. But we began asking more and more questions and the board (or my friend) told us that it was a young girl who wanted to contact her father. I don't remember the details (I wish I had recorded the entire ordeal) because I was kind of freaked out. I finally just had to end it and shake my friend awake: she seemed almost to be in some sort of trance.
We went straight back to my apartment after that. It freaked me out, and I really don't think it was a hoax. The answers were too fast and thorough for that, and I KNOW that my friend couldn't see the board from how she was positioned.
My mother believes that if she uses a Ouiji board then demons will be released.
My opinion is: if you believe that it will happen, it actually could. So if you strongly believe that the Ouiji board, for you, is evil, then don't mess with it! I believe it is a way to contact ghosts and to offer them a way of speaking with the living.

| When is comes to Ouija boards I do believe that you can contact the spirit world. For all you know you might even get to talk to a demon, but I don't believe they are evil or that a demon will come out when you use one.

| Are there other ways of speaking with ghosts/spirits that wouldn't be open to interference by a demon? Or is there a way of protecting yourself from demons while using a ouija board?
I'm curious. :3

| There is a belief that you can visit the astral world through your dreams and communicate with spirits, but that is very, very dangerous considering the demons that reside there.
As far as I know, communicating with certain spirits is really a matter of chance. Not all spirits are associated with demons, but many of them are.

| I believe that sometimes the spirits will talk to you in there own way like a message will appear that only you can see like on a mirror or something like that. Spirits will sometimes try to help you the only way they can and that's by finding a way to "talk" to you.

| I don't believe that. I believe that spirits really aren't interested in us unless we do something to catch their interest or provoke us. They are, after all, lost.

| What kind of things might provoke spirits? Like... moving into a house might provoke the spirit of someone who'd previously lived there, if it was still there?

| Things such as that. I believe that because spirits are either trapped or feel that they have something that they must continue protecting, then they will only acknowledge us if we interfere with what they're trying to do. So that could be moving into "their" property, or taking/destroying something that belonged to them, or even summoning them, purposefullly or not.
Of course, nothing has really been discovered, so these are all my opinions.
