| wow...this is a hard question to answer. I would have to say that it would have to be the Bible. I am not overly religious, but it has had a big impact on me.
I also would have to say that Harry Potter was a big influence.

Just, that post reminded me of a book I saw once called "Finding God in Harry Potter" that I've always thought is a bit ridiculous.
Um.
But yeah. Both of those are good.
Although the 6th Harry Potter book was gay.

I like Piers Anthony way too much. I think his writing has inspired my own writing and my lack of female characters. XD

| I've only held a Harry Potter book once. In the fifth grade. I forgot which book it was but it was purple and brown and a hint of red on the cover. It was huge [in my 5th grade opinion] and I kept trying to read the first page over and over again. But I'd get too bored and stop reading. Every time. So I just walked around the playground with my friends lugging around this book until I got home and put it away.
TRUE STORY.
But I've seen the movies and kind of understand the story behind it all. Not bad. But..I've never actually read the bible all the way through so I have no opinion on that.

Oddly enough, the next thing I'm going to read isn't going to be a great book or story, but an instructional manual for my dads radio. >> He doesn't want to read it, so he's giving it to me to read. I'D RATHER BE FINISHING MY BOOKS, DAD D8

| The 6th book is just depressing and whiny and not a very good read. But you really need to read all of the books to get the full affect of the series. The books mature with the characters and readers. And it was when the series really started to get more adult. It just leaves you feeling kind of bleh. But the 7th book, in my opinion, really makes up for it.

| Yeah, the seventh one is ok, and makes up for the fail sixth. However, the ending was dumb.
I mean, I knew Harry would win, he had to, but I was still extremely disappointed that he did. Boo.

| Go Ask Alice was a super intense book for me, the second time i read it. It was from a very real place and i had seen a little bit of what she describes, and it terrified me, so i have stayed away from those hard heavy drugs that drag you under.
And as for books i could read over and over again:
The Phantom Tollbooth
His Dark Materials trilogy
The Chronicles of Narnia
The Crimson Petal and the White
The Gregory Maguire collection (Wicked, Son of a Witch) etc

| Oh, the His Dark Materials series is WONDERFUL.
if only someone hadn't lost my copy of the first book, BERLIN.
I've never bought another one, though, because it was a matched set, and it would feel so WRONG.

| My favourite books haven't really influenced my life.
My favourite book of all time being "Round Ireland with a fridge" by Tony Hawks, I'm a fan of travellers books. Thr only influence this kind of books have is making me want to travel to far or not-so-far away places more, although it will never happen :'/
I'm also a big fan of childrens books, the "ordinary" and the fantasy kind, none of which have an effect. Although I think that certain books I read when I was younger changed the way I say the world, and not necessarily for the best xD

| The books that influenced me the most. Most likely Michael Ende's Neverending Story and EVERYTHING by Roald Dahl. If you want to talk imagination-stimulating, those are the two to talk about. And I also got a lot out of Simon R. Green's Nightside series. I wanna write Crime Noir now.

| aww I miss the never ending story, It never made much sense to me as a child though the movie and the book, 'why is the shag rug flying?'
I was influenced the most by 'cloudy with a chance of meatballs- love the illustrations'
and catch 22 a depressing book but oh so true.
