I hate hiccups. -hic- ._. I've been hiccuping for the past.. -hic- 5 mins now? I think, roughly. -hic- My ribs hurt. -whine-
... -HIC- Ow that one hurt. -hic- Ughhh... I can't even hold my breath long enough -hic- without hiccuping, and I'm too lazy to get up and get something to drink. -hic-
When you get the hiccups, generally, how long do they last?
What kind of "cure" do you use to get rid of hiccups?

| Ow, mine are actually kinda painful too. It always shocks me. D:
On average, mine last probably around 15-20 minutes. I hold my breath as long as I can and take slow breaths through my mouth. I used to try drinking water, but it never helped me. D:
I think my mom told me something about salt and lemon once for hiccups. Well, it was either for hiccups, or a sore throat. >>
My advice: Slow, slow breathing while sipping water.

| The lasting time of mine varies, but they do kind of hurt. And usually I just hold my breath to get rid of them. Of course, that doesn't always work, so then I'm stuck with te hiccups until they go away naturally.

| ARRRGH LOL
I just got the hiccups. And it's super sad that my first thought was about this thread XD well, more like second thought. First I was like "aw crap" because I freakin' hate hiccups. Then my brothers were like "STFU LOL" and then I was like... ok, I'll complain about it in the hiccup thread.
THEY HURT DX And I just ate so my belly is NOT HAPPY. Holding my breath isn't helpiiiiing... need.... to breathe..... XO

| The weirdest cure I have seen for Hiccups is doing multiplication tables and other quick math problems. Strangely it works can't figure out why but it is by far the funniest.
The other one is eating a tablespoon of sugar.
Both my father and I on occasion get hiccups after eating chicken for some strange reason. The normally don't last long how ever as holding my breath seems to clear them up.

| Mine often hurt very badly x___X it sucks. Shortly after I posted that, my mom cured me of my hiccups though XD She made me breath in deep, then out all the way, then drink some water without breathing back in. Worked! :O

| Unless I'm unusually stressed, I can usually calm myself down and focus on relaxing. That always seems to do the trick.
I'm not even sure why, though, since I'm not even sure what I'm doing really.... Perhaps the diaphram can be controlled with practice?

| I have a habit of getting hiccups on test days. The classroom gets so quiet you can hear a pin drop . . and then . . .
"hic ....... Hic ........... HIC!"
They just get louder and louder. x[ The only way to get rid of them is to either wait or drink several liters of fluids.

| Mmmm, can't stand hiccups myself. >.< I get them almost every other day it seems. Once or twice a week at the least. And of course, the only thing that makes them stop for me is to hold my breath.
Of course, it's always funny when I'm out in say, Walmart, and start holding my nose to hold my breath. All of the sudden I get funny looks from people around me. It's not unusual for one or two people to flip out and stare. ^^;;

| You could try holding your breath and swallow three to five times, that usually works for me.

| Mine usually last for half an hour at most. I just sit and hope that they go away soon, because water doesn't help me. xD

| I get hiccups all the time. x.X I hate them. I usually get them after drinking something too, and drinking something is supposed to cure them, not cause them. ._.; I don't get it. I usually hold my breath until they go away. x_x
