| When I enter a thread, I read the title, the first post, and usually the first page, as well as the last page, and if there are 5 or fewer posts on the last page, the page before, and then I respond. Usually.
How far do you read in a thread before posting?
Does it differ between sites?

Usually, I just read the first post on the first page and that's about it. Maybe the last post on the most recent page - if I feel like it. I'm generally pretty lazy when it comes to that.

| Depends what the topic is about and how many pages. If it isn't long and the topic is some thing that others may have covered some thing I would have said I usually have to read it. But if it is one like what have you had for breakfast I usually read the first page and the last page or two.
Doesn't really differ between sites either as most place I post have a high literacy level so not reading make you look a fool.

| If there are multiple pages, usually the first page and the last page. If it's just one page, I always at least skim through every post. If it's a roleplay I do my best to read every post in detail. Depends on the topic, I suppose.

| Haha, this is a good question. I usually... read the first post and the title, unless I know exactly what the topic is about, then I just read the title. I barely ever read the other posts, unless I've come to the page from Google or somethign.

| Depending on the number of pages.... if there are around three or less, I will read them all. More than that, I will read the first and last pages. If it's a serious topic I feel awkward reiterating what someone else has probably already said, so I feel better having read it all if I can. It's easy to just skim and get the general idea of what people have said. If it 's a regular chat I probably won't read much at all, except out of curiosity.

| It usually depends with me, but I usually do the same as you, read the title, read the first, a few posts on the first page and then the most recent posts. <3

| It depends on how interesting I find the first post, actually, or even the title. If something catches my eye, and the thread is more than a few pages long I'll often read the first post, the whole first page, part of the second page, and all of the last page. '
Of course, if I'm lazy or something, or the thread is a game thread, I read very little. xD Usually the first post then all of the last page to see if I can answer to anything.

| I'll read the entire first post of any thread I visit, no matter what (unless it's a huge block of text that's completely unnecessary). If it's a topic I'm really into, and depending on how big it is, I'll try to read a couple of pages (especially if it's an argument. Those are always fun to read. X3). If it's boring to me, I'll probably just move on to the next thread...

| Depends on my mood and general lazines. Also if I just wanna responmd to post one and leave, or stay and talk.
It doesn't differ much between sites for me, but it does differ between the forums on sites. Some forums I wanna read as much as possible before posting, like in RP forums. In discussion forums it varies on the above.

| I read the first post (all of it - unless its exceedingly long) and perhaps the 2nd and 3rd post if I'm really interested in the subject before I post myself.

| Hmm theres quite a range! I remember making this topic when I noticed people posting on the title of a previous topic, and not on my first post let alone what people were saying in the thread. And it kind of made me sad because some people made excellent points, but understanding the range helps understand the perspectives of how people post.
And I lost the thread! But now I found it again. I wasn't thinking of it as a midorea chat topic, but I suppose it is.
