School Computers - blockage

Well, do you people play Midorea on a school computer?
I used to play it like crazy and try to earn some spare silver through the battle system while at school....

but then...
they blocked it.
Saying its a gaming site or something like that.

My mouth fell open when I went to school and it wouldn't let me play Mido

Does your school block access to sites like Midorea?

I just graduated college, and no, but I think even in high school, they didn't block sites for games. It would have to have "explicit" content.

My first high school didn't block Gaia, so I'm sure it wouldn't have blocked Midorea now. That's really got to suck though. xD; I'm glad I don't go to school anymore, and when I go to college they're not homo and block sites. :3

I don't think my school blocks any 'game' sites.
But it did block youtube which caused an uproar amongst the students.
I hope they don't block gaia or midorea D8

When I was in high school they had ended up blocking fun sites, like Gaia and such. That had only started when I was a Junior in high school, but I don't believe my college does it; I'm not entirely sure, haven't actually tried, but since people can bring their own computers and such I think they don't really block any sites.

I don't use the school computers any more than necessary, because they totally suck

As far as I know, websites like Youtube and deviantART are blocked, and I'm pretty sure that Myspace and Facebook are as well. My guess is that they only block the mainstream stuff; Midorea is probably accessible.

@Bunny: Oh I see. They block practically everything on the computers at school in my business class >.> Luckyyy. Though we found this one site that has TONs of cool games and someone said they did something so it couldn't get blocked at school ,LOL.

As far as I know, they don't block anything at the University.

But when I was in high school nearly everything was blocked. It sucked....

Then again... that was a looooong time ago.

So far I'm not in school but when I was they only blcok chat rooms sites not games sites.

They block this site, and most other sites like it, too. But I actually like that. It keeps me focused on my work so I don't slack off. I just get online to play when I get home. x)

They actually blocked Mido? O: I wonder if it's actually getting popular, or maybe they just moniter the websites more than my school? It's most likely not the former but it'd be nice if it were. ^^

I remember my high school blocked any thing with message boards. Rather annoying, then again I never really used the schools computers...
Uni on the other hand only blocks the ports you would need to play things like WoW or in my case ZOMG. The latter is a bit annoying but probably saves my grades >>;

That's sucks. I'm not in school anymore, but as far as I know sites like this are generally blocked on school networks. I know my brothers can't access a lot of the sites they like to go to - in high school or in community college! So there are a lot of limitations... I guess they want their internet to go only to learning. XD


Personally, I don't see why this site would need to be blocked. If a student really has nothing better to do, why not let them? But perhaps I am too lenient, lol.
I definitely don't see why anyone would need to block it on a university server... well, at least I hope not. I'm going back to school soon and if I have to come home to browse the internet I will be very annoyed.

From what i have experienced High Schools are more pron to
blocking a site because they fear law suits.
If parents find out that their child is navigating a "bad" site and the
the high school didnt block it then the school can get into trouble.
High Schools deal with underage students.

Now if a University blocks sites well thats just ridiculous in my opinion.
People in a University are over the age of 18, they are adults.
Why should the school have control over what adults look at. Ya its okay to block porn sites because thats not necessary.
but sites like gaia and even myspace, its ridiculous.
If that adult wants to go there they should be able to.
But my boyfriends College doesn't block any of those sites.

I've been finishing up my training at out technology center when our router broke in class and I couldnt use my laptop...grrr... Well the tech guys came and decide to replace comps...and block the hell outta them, but not replace a simple router...RaWr!! So now I have to use these new comps in class and the've started blocking EVERYTHING!..I had to run a google search just to randomly try everthing to see what wasn't blocked >.> gaia,myspace,flickr,facebook...EVERYTHING I use on a daily basis was blocked...Grrr...Then I found this site n.n"
