The clouds in the skys told of rain the could easily be smelled on the breeze that flitted by now and then. As noon came and past, there had still been no rain, but the clouds were now as dark as they could be. Any moment now, there would be a heavy rain storm.

A young woman the age of 22 walked out of a shop selling died herbs, carrying a basket full of purchases. Her dark brown hair ran all the was down her back, secured into a ponytail by a long white ribbon whose ends dangled near the tip of her hair. Her eyes, just a shade lighter than her hair, spoke of intelligence but held a certain naive element as well. She wore a lace-up leather vest over a white shirt with flowing fantasy sleeves. Her pants matched her vest, the type of pants an adventurer would wear. Her boots were also a decent match, made with long walks by foot and hiking in mind. She had the air of a scholar about her, a caring person who probably know a thing or two about remedies and first-aid.

And that's when the skies decided to open up and let the rain fall...

"Ahh! No! My herbs!" The young woman dashed along sheltering her basket as best as she could, making her way to the nearest inn/tavern. She pulled the door open and entered, tripping over the raised edge. Both she and her basket went tumbling into the legs of someone's chair and the rest of the tavern was laughing at her for her clumsy accident.

((I'm assuming the chair you tripped on fell over)) Teophilus Koma sat on the floor, slightly dumbstruck at the din before him. He looked at the girl and her herbs and her disheveled face and laughed. It was about time something interesting happened.
"Hi there." He grinned at the woman. His white dress shirt was blotched with something purple and smelly, his keen sense of smell informing him that it was lilac.
"Lilacs...? A nice choice, I think..." He laughed again and a small droplet of blood fell down his face. Apparently he hit the ground harder than he thought he did.

((I didn't trip over it, I fell and tumbled into its legs))

She was very embarassed at the whole tavern laughing at her and her face turned red from it. She forgot about all that however when she saw that he was injuried.

As quickly as she could, she gathered all the herbs back into her basket and set it onto the table. Then she helped him up and into his seat before marching off into the kitchens without asking, returning to the table with a stone mug of steaming water.

She set the cup on the table infront of the injured man and proceeded to go through her gathered herbs... crushing some in her fingers and adding it to the water. Soon, he would notice a soothing aroma that would melt away the headache that he might have had at the moment.

Taking a small clean cloth from the pouch tied to her belt she dipped it quickly into the water. She cleaned the blood from his face and dabbed gently at the wound. The bleeding would slow to just enough to heal... "There you go..." She said.

The cloth on his head stung more than it should.
"Ouch," Koma grinned a little.
Why is it that no matter where he went, he always had to get himself in trouble?
"Uh, I'm Koma, by the way," He looked at the girl behind the warm, wet cloth.
"And you are?"

"I'm Catherine..." She said, moving the cloth away. After a moment she smiled since she saw the wound was healed up enough. "Does your head feel alright now?"

"Yeah, its fine," Koma grinned, "It's hollow anyway."
He looked at the large basket full of herbs.
"So, you going to a garden expo or something?"

"I'm a traveling scholar... I do things like this as apart of my studies."

Koma nodded in approval. "That's cool. Sounds like there isn't a lot of travel, but sounds interesting."
"I'm an adventurer. A free spirit. Living off of the road and the good earth, and that's about it." He moved his arms in wide, sweeping motions, attempting to impress her.

"Oh goodness! Me too!" She took a seat at his table. "I.. I guess I'm the same."

"Really?" He raised an eyebrow. "A scholarly adventurer. I've only heard stories, but I never knew they existed..." He laughed at his joke.
"So what brings you here?"

Catherine laughed a little as well. "I'm just passing through. I have a question for you... Are you good with combat?"

Koma returned her question with a blank stare, and then began to laugh.
"Fight? Miss, I believe you are talking to one of the most dangerous men on the face of this planet."
He meant that more literally than he knew she would take it, but it served the same purpose.
Being the carrier of a vicious dire animal usually came with the deadly part.

"Oh my..." Catherine blinked. "That's a bit of a boast isn't it? Saying something like that in a tavern is an invitation to trouble."

"Trouble?" Koma waved off her warning with a limp hand, "These jokesters don't wany any trouble. Besides, anyone who picks a fight with me is only leaving with payed assistance. In a casket."
He nodded at his last remark, satisfied with his impressions on the woman.
He knew he was dressed to be a little more civilized than he spoke, but he felt it didn't matter anyways. He had an airship to catch, and soon he would never see this woman again.

((Hint: The air-cruise-liner is called the Leos Astor, if you wanna start going somewhere with this ;D
I wasn't planning on doing anything Titanic-ish, but if you want to we could...))

((Ok, I'll fastforward and scene change for us. Feel free to introduce villians and stuff and I'll jump in with some of my own to either work with yours or just cause me chaos.))
((Maybe we should keep out OOC this tiny from now on too so that our posts look cleaner? Up to you.))

Seeing the air-cruise-liner as an opportunity during her ongoing journey of knowledge she devised a way to get onboard. Something simple was best for such an occassion and so she settled on just walking up to the supplies being loaded and picking up a couple sacks sugar, putting them on her shoulders.

She followed someone else who appeared to be on their way to the kitchens, and was stopped by the cook himself when she arrived.

"Who are you?!" The large man shouted. He was very tall and a little overweight but not too badly. What hair remained on his balding head was firey orange, bringing equal fierceness to his green eyes. "You're not one of mine!"

"I err.. umm... helping..." Normally she would lie but there was just no way she could with this man, there was far too much intensity in his hawk-like gaze.

"Ya want to help do ya? Stole-away more like! I'm not an idiot lass, I've been working in the skies since before you were born!" He lectured on and on... not giving Catherine the chance to set the sacks of sugar down untill he had finished and took them from her. "Give me those! Get on into the scullery with ya! You'll scrub your way to next port and then it's off the ship without a copper piece of pay."

She allowed herself to be pushed allong to where a row of sinks were lined up and there were shelves and shelves of clean pans, pots, and everything else the kitchen staff could possibly need. The cook threw a apron at her and was on his way.

"Well..." She said, plucking the apron off her head and looking at it. It was clean and felt charmed against water. "...It could have been worse..."
