I am pleasantly surprised, though, at the amount of people in this thread who actually try not to harm insects and arachnids.

PErsonally, I despise spiders, but not in the 'OMG KILL IT EEEK! *stands on chair and shrieks*' phobia.

I've been bitten and my grandfather has as well, by a black widow. The antivenom and tests you have to go through are absolutely horrendous.

Since then, I've been pretty adament about either avoiding spiders, or getting someone else to kill them. Where we live, we get a ton of brown recluse and wolf spiders.

Wolf spiders the size of your fist, mind you. They give you a few clicks in warning and literally latch onto your leg. These things can kill birds, they have no qualms with taking out your fcking ankle.

Brown recluse are probably my biggest phobias. They look a lot like regular spiders, save their body shape sometimes, and if you get bit, you don't have much time before your ass is goooone.

IF they weren't so fcking dangerous, I probably wouldn't mind them so much.

Brown recluse spiders and black widows...are my nightmares. If I ever saw one I would freeze up, get bitten and die. D:

They seriously creep me out to no end, lemme tell you, Glimpse.

They're a lot out here cuz I live out in the country side. Between them and snakes, everything's pretty lax out here. You see a lot of wild animals and such, but most of them are dangerous.

Like, last week we saw a fox kit on the road, looking every which way and all lost. It was cute until we almost ran it over. My friend and I freaked out. I literally screamed cuz I thought we were going to hit it.

If it's one thing I can't stand, it's running an animal over. It's not THEIR fault that people decided to pot fckin' concrete and asphalt where they used to live. Especially the babies. ;A;

But yeah, we get a ton of Daddy Long Legs, too. Those I don't mind so much so long as they're not landing in my hair. Little bastards jump pretty high so I'm always having to keep an eye out.

I live in a less country more suburban kind of neighborhood so the worst I see are itty bitty spiders and roaches [lots of roaches because of my filthy neighbors D:]. Also, lizards!

EDIT: You know what's even worse than daddy long legs? When your dog comes home carrying FLEAS. Those guys jump higher than anything else.

Everytime I see an animal on the road I wonder why the person just didn't stop. I mean, I can understand if it's night but STILL. Stop the car!

I remember one time I was driving with my dad and he made fun of me because I swerved out of the way to avoid hitting an adorable little squirrel. He said "Is it better to get in a car accident and get yourself injured to save the life of some animal?"

He had a point, sorta. But there were no other cars on the road, so I still support what I did. ;D

OH god I've done that.

In a old gudunkadunk truck, too. There was a Labrador retriever running around on the road and he started chasing the car in front of me. The car actually tried to scare it off by playing chicken.

Instead it hit it.

I actually stopped my truck, waved traffic around, and found the dog's owner. The car sped off but at least the dog was taken to the vet before it was just laid dead on the road for a week and wasn't found until it was too late.

It was hard, too, cuz it was in a suburbian area so there were a lot of houses that had fences or dog leashes. :/

*cracks up* I'm just makin' you break into random laughter all over the place.

And I know, right? My grandmother actually ran her truck into a ditch trying to avoid hitting a dog. We get a lot of strays out here so it's not too uncommon to find one or two running around and usually at least four dead on the side of the road.

I always tear up when I see a dog or a cat dead because it was run over. That's just poor judgment on both the driver and the owner's part. Owner for letting it outside (If it randomly escaped, then it's excusable, but just letting it run around outside in an area like this is dangerous) is what got it killed. :<

And your dad's friends suck.

Tell him you'll sick the ASPCA on them.

But what's even WORSE is that my neighbors have this really BIG dog. And they mistreat him, so of course he acts out. Now, my dad hates this dog. So he kept joking that he was going to through a poisoned steak over the fence. Then he kept saying it. Over and over and over again. Then he stopped joking and threatened to do it. Of course we all yelled at him not to, and he didn't but GOD MY DAD IS SUCH A MEAN FELLOW SOMETIMES I DONT UNDERSTAND IT.

I got my love for animals from my mother, obviously. x)

... Dude, do you know that someone who's willing to kill and beat animals generally becomes a spouse beater, or a murderer? It's mainly with kids and such, but I'd be careful if Daddy ever cooks. o.o;;

I would never kill any living creature unless they were harming others. And then I still cry a little about it. Like dogs saved from fighting rings. Just because they don't get along with other dogs doesn't mean they HAVE to be put down, just don't have another dog with you. And walk them when others aren't around, even then if you're strong enough it's not like you can't keep the dog away. Put a muzzle on it and it'll be fine.

But alas, the only man able to cure dogs of meanness and bad up-bringing is Millan. The Dog whisperer. Person. I admire him. Watching his shows actually helped me train my own dog.

Course she passed away a little while later so it was kind of a moot point. :< The dog was mean though, always biting me and ripping me apart and stuff. She was old and just needed to pass. My mother wouldn't let us put her down, even though it was obvious she was in a lot of pain, blind, deaf, and dumb. Seriously.

Broke her heart when she died. I dunno if they buried her anywhere or not.

OH MAN, well my dad used to be a bit brutish when we were younger, but he's changed as we've aged. Maybe...he grew out of it? O___O Ihopeso

That reminds me of my own dog, Christopher. He bit me when I was a kid because I was trying to pet him while he was eating a bone. He was a Chow. Pretty big, adorable. I was terrified of him. So my dad "left the gate open on accident" and he ran away. My sister says she heard our parents saying he got run over by a car. D:

BUT I SWEAR MY DAD IS A GOOD MAN. He's just not good with animals. Any of them. ): He can't make connections with them. Even now, our adorable little puppy is just a "little watchdog".

But, I mean, dogs bite kids, you don't let them get hit by a car, you take them to the pound. :/ It's not that much money to leave an animal there, geeze...

But to each his own. My granddad was like that. Brutish and mean. Then I was born and now he's just an ass. lol I love him, though, no matter how many times he says I need to lose weight. I am losing it, and he's complimenting me more on it.

Which is rare. He's a hardcore Marine. Like. Really hardcore. He served in Viet Nam I believe is how it's spelled? He won't tell us horror stories about it, though because he doesn't want us to change our mind should we decide to join the military.

I've already decided that's a big fat NO. I can't stand authority.

But yeah, I own three cats now, two with my mother, one here with me and my grandparents. Call her Baby Bear cuz she's this freakin' HUGE CAT.
