What at this point in your life are you going for? Running to or from. What drives you to keep going? To keep moving and making progress. . .

My main desire is to change lives. I want to work in psychiatry and help children through divorces, marriages through tough times, and so on. I had to deal with my parents' separation all on my own when I was really young, and it's scarred me to the point that I can't even cry in front of people, and no one else should have to deal with that pain on their own.

Another great desire of mine is to have a family one day. My family is severely dysfunctional to the point that they yell for everything. I really want a decent family that doesn't yell at you when you cry, or blame you for their mistakes. I want to bring life into this world and show them that you can find love in more places than one, and raise children to see that there are some parents out there that love each other to the end like they're supposed to. I want to give my future children the life that I always wanted.

So I suppose that what drives me is thinking that someday I’ll have a happy family life.

I grew up in a divorced family, and it took my mom going nearly bankrupt for my dad to take me in if I remember correctly. Since then he has made me feel like shit and the loudmouth bastard feels the need to yell to get a point across... I guess what I'm saying here is if I become a father that I would try and make it work for the kids sake even if I hated the mother passionatly... A better functioning family I'd guess. Kids shouldn't have to go through some of the shit most have now and days...

Its good to see that you took the hard times and used them as fuel to become a better person rather then let them tear you down like so many people do. . .

Tod: well its good that you want the best for your kids when and if you have any. . . But it may not be a great idea to stay with someone if you two are not happy. . . you would be surprised what little ones can pick up on. I believe that even separated parents can raise a child well.

Family.

Family is what pushes me to do more, be a better person, and do more then what is expected. I am an only child, so having a semi large family is big to me. I love kids, and I want to have at least 2 of them when I get married.
I want to go back to collage, get my Bacholar's degree in business. I mean, yes I want to be a mommy, but I want to be a mommy that after the children are grown, that can go back to work. I cant stand being an at home mom.

I cant even work at the fron checkout for more then a few hours. That is just way too boring.

well thats a good thing to use to drive yourself. As long as you do it cause you want to and you care. . . not cause you feel "you have to" that just breeds anger and spite.

Naw. I want children because I love them. But if I cant have kids of my own, adoption is always an option for me. I dont mind helping a child out to become its mother if it gives me a child.

And getting married? At this point, I am almost wanting to just do a small quite ceromony. No big ta da. I dont think I want it, with the costs and all that crap. I know my fiance just wants me to be happy, but I am leaning more towards the city hall version. I dont see the point is spending 15k of real money on a one day thing, when the main thing I want is a happy life. Not a happy wedding day.

@Bella: I agree with you on the wedding thing. >__< I don't see the point in spending a lot of money on one otherwise pointless day, considering it's the beginning of the rest of your life with that person.

I know. I mean I love the cakes, I love the dresses. But...

I wanna just be with him. And though I would kill to see him in a Tux, I am not going to spend our savings on ONE day.

I mean, there is a study going on right now, that says that the average cost to raise a child now adays is 250,000 dollars.
