| WELCOME TO MIDOREA'S WRITING CHALLENGE!!!
- What is the Writing Challenge?
The writing challenge is a way of pushing people to write, with the hope that it will somehow make them better, or at least give them the motivation to do something.
- How does it work?
Each month, a random list of themes will be given. The participants must take those themes and create a story around them. When the month is over, they post what they have done in this thread. They can then comment on other people's work, and ask for comments about their own writing too. And then a new list of themes is given and the process goes on.
For more information, check the rules posted below.
- Is it a contest? Can I win prizes?
No, this is not a contest. I might become one (or let's say one could be added in the future), but for now, the only prize you get is the satisfaction of having finished something, and the possible positive comments from the other participants.
- How do I join?
There's no requirement to join, and no official joining process either. Simply post in the thread specifying your interest, take the themes and make something with them. Just remember to follow the rules and everything will be alright.
- Do I need to be good at writing, know my grammar perfectly, etc.?
NO! The goal of the challenge is to push people to write and to get feedbacks so that they can improve, so obviously, if you're perfect, it kinda ruins the last part of our goal... More seriously though, it'd be appreciated if you put some efforts into what you are doing.
Note that you will also be the one choosing the goals you want to reach. Scroll to the "Current Challenge" post for more information.
- Soooooo, I don't need to do anything special?
Well, I appreciate if you stick around and chat to keep the thread alive, but yeah, you don't need to do anything special.
- What if I want more information?
You can simply post your questions in the thread, or PM me.

| ~ Rules ~
- Follow the rules of Midorea!
-> This especially refers to the PG-13 rule. If your text is not PG-13, you can upload it somewhere else and post a link (with a warning) in the thread.
-> If you're not sure about the rules, please contact me or another moderator.
- Respect the creative ownership and copyrights.
-> You can only post your own work as entries for the challenge.
-> If you want to quote someone else, well, quote them correctly (with a reference and all).
-> If you find what one of the participants' writing interesting and want to "use" their work for something, contact them before!!!
- Giving feedbacks and comments is fine, but bashing, trolling and flaming will not be tolerated.
-> Constructive criticism is appreciated, but there's a difference between "constructive" and "negative".
-> Anything that falls under those categories (flaming, trolling, bashing, etc.) will be immediately removed.
- Entries should be posted in this thread. Comments stay here.
-> Only your entries for each month should be posted in the entries thread.
-> Comments should be posted here, and well as anything else concerning the challenge.
-> If you want comment on another piece of writing you made (not related to the challenge), post it in the Storybook.
-> You can however post a link to your thread in the challenge's thread to get some attention.
- Stay on topic.
-> Since you can also use this thread to brainstorm and get idea for your writings, the topic is quite large.
-> I'd jsut ask that if you want to chat about your plans for the weekend and that sort of things, you go to another thread.
- I can add new rules at any time.
-> And I'll try to warn you before I do.

| ~ Current Challenge ~
This is the section where you'll find all the information you need about the ongoing challenge. As said above, the themes will change at the beginning of each month. Participants will then have a month to come up with a story including the themes in some way. The themes don't need to be the core part of the story, they can just be some background elements. The words themselves don't even have to be mentioned. We just need to feel that whatever you came up with is related to them.
An important part of the challenge is the personal goal. Basically, this is an objective you give yourself, something you want to work on and improve in your writing (see the list below for ideas). You can stick to the same goal every month, or choose a new one, or even have more than one if you want. Since this will influence your writing, it is suggested that you pick one before you start writing, and stick to it as much as possible. You can also mention it when posting your entry, just so people can understand better and maybe even give you tips and critics to help you.
September 2011:
Themes: Mystic, Shoe(s), Test
Entries: Malverne
September's challenge will end October 7th.
Entries should be posted in this thread.

The library is a little zone where interesting links can be found. Feel free to post links to your favourite writing-related sites in the thread, with a little description of why you like it, and I'll add them here.

Oh, a little note too: although a challenge is "officially" over after its month has passed, you can always use those themes to make a piece of writing. Just remember to write that it's not for the current challenge if you post it.

| Ugh, I wasn't able to get it up in time. I had way to much going on this month. I do, however, fully intend to participate in this. It should be a little better when there is more time to write for the next month.
