Hm, it's a bit hard to explain. Midorea certainly is fantasy inspired, but not necessarily medieval. You can check the story page to learn more about how it started, sort of a Midorean mythology if you want. And as supermufin said, the events are a nice place to look to learn more about the characters and, well, events going on.
