Andy was standing in his room near an open balcony. His room was on the second floor of a huge mansion and on the eastern side too, so every morning his room was showered with golden sun rays.

He was leaning on the jamb of the balcony door and curiously watching someone working in the back yard.
Good morning, Nami... he thought and smiled to himself.

Nami was quietly humming to herself as she tended to the backyard garden, pulling weeds from around the roses. It had been her job ever since she was 8. At first she had hated the job, not understanding why her mother had dressed her in the same type of outfit she wore and told her it was time to do her duty as her daughter and serve the king and queen in service.

Nami had just wanted to continue doing what she had been doing while she was younger which was playing with the other children the prince included. Of course after a few years she grew to love tending the flowers and other plants in the garden. Of course this would be her last day doing so. She had been told that morning that someone else was to be tending to the gardens from now on and she was being moved to do a new higher ranking job. She didn't know what that meant but she was told she would find out that evening once dinner was over.

"I wonder what my new job will be?" She said to herself contemplating all the other jobs there were to do for the king queen and prince. She stood up from her weed pulling and dusted off her apron when one of the other maids told her it was time for breakfast. "Be there in a sec." She called picking up her bucket off weeds and heading inside.

By the time Andy reached the dining room, everyone were already assembled. Both of his parents nodded him good morning. Of course, formal as ever. Andy greeted them back and wentt to the seat that was prepared for him. He sat down and a servant approached him swiftly placing a napkin on his lap.
Breakfast went by quickly and quietly. Just before everyone were about to rise from the table, the king, Andy's father, stopped them with a motion of his hand.
"Andrew," he spoke. "I have some news for you."
Somehow Andrew felt a chill down his spine, it was an unexplainable reaction, but it was rare for his father to deal with him personally.
"We have decided on your new personal servant," he fixed his eyes on Andy.
"I hope you'll stop your foolish play and won't do anything to this one," the king scowled at him slightly."I hope I made myself clear about this matter." He stood up and so did the queen. Andy stared at them for a slight moment before standing up himself and bowing.
"Understood..." he said with his head respectfully low.
"Good, she'll start this evening," the king added and left the room.
'She'? Andy perked up with curiousity.

The rest of the day went by rather quickly for Nami and Nuria. Nami teaching Nuria everything she knew about the garden and how to take care of the many plants that were there as well as the queens roses.

Finally it was time for dinner and Nami and Nuria headed inside to eat. Dinner went by quickly and Nami was pulled aside by her mother and some other servants. "I suppose this is over my new job?" Nami said in a somewhat excited voice. She would miss the garden but knew that she must have done something well in her 12 years there to be moved to a higher ranked job.

"Yes your right this is about your new job my dear." Her mother said looking to the two male servants that had accompanied her to the side. "You will from now on be the princes personal servant." She said and walked off to allow the two previous servants to tell Nami about it.

Nami stood in shock for a few moments personal servant to the prince wasn't that normally a job reserved for the male servants. "I don't understand shouldn't one of you be taking that job?" She asked to the closest that was to her.

"I’ve had it I don't want it again the prince can be a monster to servants. Always pulling pranks or other things I had to leave and go back to what I had been doing before. I would rather clean toilets than be a servant to the prince." He said quickly walking away the other following after.

Nami just assumed the other boy had a similar story "I hope that's not entirely true." Nami said to herself going to find her mother to find out what all her new job entailed exactly and when she was supposed to start.

"Tonight, right now exactly?!" Nami exclaimed to her mother when she found out "And I won't be staying down here with the other servants anymore either?" She said nervous about how sudden the change was.

"Yes Nami my dear and you need to get going. I know you know the way towards the prince's chambers. When you get there, there will be a servant to take you to your room among them. Then you will need to go and tell the prince that dinner will be served soon."

She said finally taking a breath between words “Since as you know there dinner is latter then ours. While the prince is gone you are to clean up anything that might be considered dirty and like much like you would do for the young kid’s rooms. I am sure you are up for this the king and queen themselves have decided you would be the right person for the job.” She said again mussing up Nami’s hair.


“I suppose I should be going then.” Nami said hugging her mother and going to where she had been told after gathering her things. She was led to a rather nice looking room that was more like a small one bedroom apartment than a room.

“Thank you” She said to the servant boy whom had shown her the way but he had already left. “Can the prince really be that mean to servants?” Nami wondered out loud to herself as she approached the prince’s door. Knocking lightly and not waiting for a response “Prince Andrew sir dinner will be served shortly” She said just as she had been instructed.

During the day time, Andy had little to do, this was one of his rare occasions when he didn't have to undergo some sort of training that his father thought would be beneficial for him as the heir of the family, therefore he had the liberty of spending his time thinking about the news he heard that morning.

So, they're sending in a female to keep me in check? he wondered while being suspicious of his parents. Recently things didn't go to well between him and his servants. Andrew had some sort of expectations from them, however most appeared to be in their position for the hope of becoming someone more noticeable in society. In other words, complete incompetent fools who hoped to accomplish the impossible. They were just servants, for Christ's sake! Having little tolerance to that sort of people, Andy deliberately made their lives hard and miserable.

Hoping nothing more from the new servant, Andy spent his time in his room. He didn't bother to make his bed or gather books and pieces of clothing that were laid all across the room. Not to suffer from boredom, he grabbed a random novel that caught his interest.

Caught up in the book he barely noticed how the sun began to set and the fact that it was almost time for dinner. If it hadn't been for the knock on the door, he would've... starved. The voice calling him seemed to be familiar, but he didn't pay too much attention to actually recognize it.
I guess, this will be my new play toy, huh? he thought to himself and stood up.
"Thank you, I'll be right out," he responded without even opening the door.

Nami nodded realized that of course the prince couldn’t have seen her nod through the door she spoke “Yes sir” and walked away shaking her head at herself. Dealing with only plant for 12 years had made her indifferent towards people for the most part. Though she did do a fair share of cleaning up after them responding or talking to them for long periods of time wasn’t something she was used to.

Unless of course it was about plants. “This is going to be harder than I thought if I have to keep reminding myself to speak.” She said to herself going back down the hallway towards her room. As she went she noticed quite a bit of dust had collected and the mirrors and picture frames had lost their shine since the prince’s last servant had quit. “Hmmm better go ahead and start cleaning at least out here” She said going into her room to get some of her cleaning supplies and started to sweep slowly at first so too much dust wouldn't be kicked up.

Andy got ready for dinner in a matter of minutes. Now will be the time to see his servant since she was supposed to serve him during his meals.

He left his room and went down the hall, on his way he noticed that the small layer of dust that was 'decorating' painting and mirror frames was gone. It was a pleasant surprise so Andy looked around to see if someone was still somewhere nearby. At the corner of his eye, he thought he saw Nami...

Nami, huh? He couldn't remember the last time they spoke with each other. He missed the old days when they were playing in the palace and were carefree... However now, having different duties they simply drifted apart. Andy, of course saw her in the palace and in the yard, but somehow every time he wanted to speak to her, he didn't know what to say.
Are 'good morning' and 'good evening' going to be the only words I'll be able to say to you? he used to think that, but as time went by, she had become someone who is just barely more than a servant.

Nami saw the prince come out of his room and look around. " That's him?" She thought, it had been a while since she had seen him in more than just passing or saying a hurried hello. To her he was a far cry from the awkward looking boy she had used to know ."He's so handsome now." She thought before remembering she had to go prepare to serve him food.

She simply nodded a greeting towards him before goong back into her room and putting away her cleaning supplies. She had been shown door in her room that lead towards thevlitchens. It was the quickest rout to get back and forth from serving the prince and then getting back to finish her cleaning."Maybe he won't be the way everyone has said. He always used to be so kind." She said to herself before going through the door to the kitchens.

When Andrew reached the dining room he realized that once again, he was the last one to come. Unlike most of other wealthy families, his parents preferred a quiet family dinner without a large number of nobles attending and speaking of politics, both local and foreign.

Andy sat down on his chair turning it a bit diagnoly and crossed his legs. Now all that was left to do is wait for the servants to bring in the dishes. The king eyed Andy, but said nothing and continued to silently converse with his wife.

Nami entered the kitchens and immediately noticed other servants whispering about her. She simply ignored them and did as she had been told and went to get the tray or trays that had the prince's food on them.


One of the cooks warned her that it might be heavy. To her it wasn't as heavy as the cook made it out to be." I've lifted heavier when I worked in the gardens." She said following the other servants out to the dining area. Watching closely to see what the prince might do since she had been warned he often tripped people.

Andy watched the servants enter one after another with trays in their hands. Amongst them he instinctively searched for his old servant, but apparently he wasn't there. Andy smirked to himself as he continued watching them. He was greatly surprised to see Nami amongst them.

When did she get promoted? he wondered, And to what position? She seemed to be cautious of where she placed her feet, which also surprised him.

Letting his thoughts drift to a different direction he waited to see who would approach him.

Nami watched Andrew surprised that he seemed to be letting his mind drift. " Curious, everyone said he would trip me most assuredly, maybe they have him wrong afterall." She thought to herself as she approached him and set his tray down before him. After removing the lid she moved to the side with the other servants to await further instructions as she had been told.

She hoped she would be dismissed since she figured if the prince's hallway had been so dusty his room had to be a wreck. At least if she was there cleaning she wouldn't have to here people talking badly about the prince."So far he hasn't done anything like they said he would." She thought feeling as if everything she had been told was either a lie or a misunderstanding of some sort.

Seeing Nami serve him, left Andy rather shocked, however he too a hold of himself and didn't let that show. He watched her every move thinking that this must be a joke, with that thought he glanced at his parents questioningly. Both, the King and the Queen, seemed to also subtly follow the events and they were most pleased to see that their son didn't do anything disgraceful.

Andy frowned lightly as he ate. Father made a good decision, he thought bitterly. If it's a girl, he couldn't resort to such extreme as to humiliate her like that, he just was brought up that way. Of course, he had nothing against Nami just yet, but they have another thing coming if they thought that she could influence him in any way.

"By the way, Andrew," his mother spoke, "We're going to have some visitors tomorrow, The Duke from a neighboring country," she paused to get a sip of wine before continuing.
"He is bringing along his daughter and I expect you to be a gentleman and occupy the lady."
"Of course, Mother," he solemnly agreed.

The rest of the dinner time went by quickly and Andy stood up to go to his room as soon as he was finished. During the whole time he didn't even bother to glance at Nami.
