The world of Abode is inhabited by many different creatures, including Humans, Elves, Trolls, and the enigmatic Preservers. They have lived apart from each other, doing their best not to get in each other's way. Recently, though, the humans have grown in population, and have been taking land, including the land that had been the homeplaces of the elves. In the battles over the land, the humans eventually won and the elves were cast to the far reaches of the world.

Now the remaining elves are living in one area as a new tribe, and unsure as to what they are going to do. Will they fight back and try to regain their lost land, or will they live on what they were allowed to keep, doing their best to keep peace? It is up to the New Tribe to decide...

The Rules are as Followed:

-Follow all the rules of the roleplaying forum. Yes, this is a given, but I feel that it should be mentioned.
-All posts must be at least a paragraph long. I will not tolerate one-liners. And use proper spelling and grammar. This is a semi-literate roleplay, meaning good grammar and spelling, but you don't have to be too lengthy.
-Refrain from godmoding. There are a few other boards around here that give GREAT descriptions of godmoding, so I'll link to them when I have the time
-Profiles and OOC chatter is for the OOC board. Not here.
-As more rules come to mind, I will add them here.

Profiles:

Quote:
Username: Keylaleigh
Character Name: Ayoris
Age: 724
Gender: Female
Race: Elf
Original Tribe: Go-Back
Magical Powers: None
Weapons: She uses a troll-forged short-sword in one hand and a dagger in the other.
Appearance: Ayoris is about four feet, an average height for elves, and very muscular. She keeps her black hair very short so it won't get in her grey-blue eyes while fighting. She wears a tan sleeveless shirt and tan pants, both lined with a thin layer of white fur and soft brown boots.
Personality: Ayoris is a feisty warrior that enjoys charred meat and bloodshed. She is more than willing to start a fight with anybody who looks at her funny, and will most likely win. Once you get through that outer shell, though, you will see that she is loyal to the end and willing to put down her weapons for the good of the tribe. She'll be very unhappy, but she'll do it.
Back-Story: Ayoris watched a lot of her tribe fall around her during the fights with the humans, and wants to avenge their deaths. She was born into a life that she knew was much shorter than most other elf tribes because of the climate and their constant state of battle with aggressive trolls that wanted their side of the mountain. While battling the humans, she took many down before being forced to surrender. She still considers that her greatest regret and at times wishes that she had fallen along with her friends. She realizes that she didn't, though, and instead wants to fight the humans with all she got to make sure they did not fight in vain.

Username: Tsemara
Character Name: Dusk
Age: 450
Gender: Female
Race: Elf
Original Tribe: Wolfriders
Magical Powers: Healer
Weapons: Longbow and troll forged dagger.
Appearance: Dusk stands at just under four feet in height. Her skin is slightly tanned, with lithe muscles beneath. She has light blue eyes and long arctic blue hair. (Hair so black it looks blue in certain lighting.) She usually ties it back in a ponytail to keep it out of her face. She wears a soft leather jerkin dyed a dark green color, dark brown pants, and soft leather boots.
Personality: If it doesn’t have anything to do with hunting, healing, or humans, Dusk has a hard time taking it seriously. She is usually impulsive and doesn’t think too much on the long term consequences of her actions. She might not truly be a follower of ‘the Way’, but she certainly seems to be ever in ‘the Now’ of wolf thought. Dusk is fiercely protective of her pack mates, and will do whatever she believes is necessary to protect them. However, she is not too proud to run if that is the wisest, or only, option available.
Back-Story: Dusk was named for her dark hair. She was too young to remember the initial attack that drove the Wolfriders from their Holt. However, she knows that humans were the reason they were uprooted from their home. Her healing abilities manifested after a particularly vicious attack that involved the humans using fire to attempt to burn them out. For this, Dusk will forever dislike, if not hate, humans. However, this hasn’t stopped her from learning the basics of their language. She found her wolf friend on the night of a harvest moon. She named him Bloodmoon for the moons’ red glow. He is barely big enough to support her weight, being only a year and a half old.

Username: Maeve
Character Name: Zent
Age: 16 years old
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Weapons: A sling and a wooden staff
Appearance: Zent is around 5'6" tall, with short brown hair, brown eyes and a tan skin. He has an athletic built from all the time he spends hunting or training to fight to protect his village if needed. He normally wears leather pants and a small leather vest, with additions of furs during the cold season. A simple pair of leather boots complete the picture. He keeps his sling tied at his waist, and his staff in his hands most of the time.
Personality: Zent is a rather down-to-earth young man. Like the other of his kind, he has heard stories about elves and other fairy-like creatures, but he doesn't care much about it. Yes, he has heard stories of "spirits" stealing babies, hurting men and burning down villages, but he has heard just as many good stories about them. As long as those things are not hurting him or anyone he loves, and they leave his fields and beasts alone, he doesn't mind them being nearby. He is friendly, though often cautious with strangers, and will do anything to protect his home.
Back-Story: Zent grew up in a small village at the edge of the human territory, along with his parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and the rest of the clan. A long time ago, it had been the setting of many battles between the humans and the other races, but nowadays, no one could even recall seeing a spirit. His father died of a strange disease when Zent was only 10 years old. Being the oldest male of the family, he became the new "man-of-the-house" by default. It didn't meant anything until he was 14, when he actually inherited the farm of his father and became responsible for bringing food on the table. Since that time, Zent has been busy caring for the few cows they have and working in the fields. He takes pride in what he does and enjoys his simple life, though he sometimes wishes it was easier on the other members of his clan, having seen many of them died of exhaustion or disease without anyone being able to help them. In the back of his mind, he thinks the ancient spirits could probably help the humans, but he will never say so in front of the other tribesfolks.

Ayoris was busy patrolling the edges of the tribelands. Her short sword was only a quick draw away, resting at her hip. She stuck to the trees of the densely wooded area as she watched the open fields that the humans occupied. They were starting to get much too close for comfort, and soon they would want the only land that the elves had left.

Stupid humans. Ayoris scoffed. They bred much too quickly. The easiest way to take care of all of their problems would be to thin their numbers, like thinning a herd of deer. Take the old and weak. Unfortunately, the chief of the New Tribe would never approve of that plan. He said that the uneasy truce that the elves and humans held would be better than another war.

If the Go-Back chieftess were still alive, she'd say otherwise. Those humans would be gone and they would have their lands back. Her chieftess was not alive, though, so she figured it would be best to sit still.

Skulking through the underbrush, a young silver-gray wolf kept an eye on his elf friend, who was currently doing a strange imitation of a squirrel. Dusk leapt from tree to tree, avoiding having too much contact with the ground. Bloodmoon could be explained away as a wolf that strayed away from its' pack. So his tracks would cause too much of an uproar, in comparison to an elf footprint.

The arctic blue haired elf, had her bow strapped to her back, where she could easily reach it in case of an emergency. Her quivver bounced against her thigh as she jumped from branch to branch. Her dagger sat in her boot, as it usually did. A small bag was strung over her shoulder, containing meat for the patrolling Go-Back. Being a Healer, she sometimes didn't get along with the Go-Backs, but that was no reason to cheat them out of a kill. Especially if they were keeping an eye on the invasive humans.

The young Wolfrider slowed as she neared the edge of the woods. *Ayoris,* she Sent. *The hunters brought down an elk. Which tree hides you, so I can give you your share?* Dusk figured she could have found the other elf as only a hunter would. But startling anyone, this close to humans, was never a bright idea.

Bloodmoon, sensing that his elf friend was going to stop traveling, settled down. He was careful not to leave the cover of the trees, as she lounged in the shade. The not-wolves were too far away to smell him, but that could change if the breeze shifted.

Along with the send, Ayoris got a sharp headache. She wasn't used to communicating in this way just yet, but she knew it was nescessary. Honestly, she didn't know how the Wolfriders did it. It took a moment for her to respond back.

*I'm under the large one with the star-shaped leaves. I'll be heading back to camp in a moment. Thank you, though.* She sent back, causing another headache. She had to admit, though, these headaches were not as bad as the ones she got when she started sending. She still wasn't fond of it.

The Wolfrider girl was most likely in the trees. The show-offs. She smirked. They were more suited to this life than Ayoris would ever be. All she wanted was to have her mountains back. To be nearer to the Palace. That would never happen, though.

Dusk checked a couple trees before finding the one Ayoris hid under. Bloodmoon followed, long enough to settle into the thick foliage of a bush. The Wolfrider moved to a low branch, that hung over the Go-Back. She swung upside down to hand the other elf her food. Then, she looked over to the human settlement.

*They're just going to keep coming aren't they?* Dusk huffed, irked at the proximity of the five fingered ones. *Have they done anything threatening, yet?* She dismounted her perch and sat in the shadows. The young wolf settled beside her, allowing his friend to scratch the sweet spot behind his ears.

Zent was busy patrolling near the end of his fields, which where close to the edge of the forest. A few villagers had reported seeing wolves around recently, and Zent didn't like the thought of having wolves close to his cows. Like for anything else, he didn't mind the wolves - in fact, he found them pretty interesting and beautiful - but his cows were the main source of food for his family and he couldn't afford to loose them.

Using his staff as a walking stick, Zent went along the line delimiting the end of his field, looking at the wood and wishing to see no traces of wolves. Having found nothing, he stopped for a while, wondering if the ancient spirits still lived in the woods, like they were said to have done in the past. Soon, the young man shrugged and turned around, returning closer to his family's home and to the closed field were his cows were eating calmly. He had more important things to do than daydream about the spirits.

Ayoris looked over at Dusk. "Not yet." She said quietly. No need sending when they were in proximity of each other. It saved her from another headache. One that had started to fade away, but came back quite quickly. She knew they would go away after she got more used to sending, but before then, she would have to grit her teeth and bear it.

She took the still-raw meat out of her tribesmate's hand and sunk her teeth into it. It would've been better roasted, but she was too hungry at the moment to care. And the Wolfriders weren't too fond of fires.

She then saw a spot in the distance. She wasn't the best when it came to seeing things that were too far away, but she could tell that it was very human-like. It was a little too far away to be of any worry, though, so she said nothing about it. Plus, it seemed to be going further from the forest.

The wind shifted slightly, letting wolf and rider know that the shapes in the distance were cows, and possibly a few humans. Dusk wasn't fond of either. Cows were good eating, but the elders didn't like it when she or the other cubs harrassed them. The animals were huge, strong, but incredibly stupid. Even the youngest pups in the pack had more sense that the large beasts.

When one of the two legged shapes started coming closer, the Wolfrider reached for her bow. Unstrung, it sat in her lap, but was ready in case the human got too close for comfort. Bloodmoon, sensing his friends' unease, pricked his ears toward the approaching figure. Both relaxed, ever so slightly when the human returned to whatever they were doing. She sighed and put her bow back where it had sat previously.

Dusk looked at Ayoris, who was currently eating. *The elders want us to Send when we're this close to human lands,* she reminded the older elf.

*But sending hurts...* She complained. Sighing, she knew that the Wolfrider would not understand. For them, sending was one of their main forms of communication. In the mountains it didn't really matter. Their enemies were far underground and had poor hearing, so they couldn't hear the Go-Backs above if they tried.

*Very well... The headaches will fade eventually.* She audibly sighed. It was better that she got used to it soon, because she would have to.

Dusk blinked, and looked over at the older elf. She didn't bother to hid her confusion. The young elf didn't understand the Go-Backs statement. But one couldn't lie in a Send. If it hurt her in some way, it would explain the reason behind the other Go-Backs reluctance to Send as well. But that wasn't were the Wolfriders' thought were.

The Wolfrider started to grin. She wasn't an adult yet, so teasing was still a valid form of communication, in Dusk's mind anyway. *Is the big scary Go-Back afraid of a headache?* She asked, amused.

Ayoris smirked, giving the younger elf a light shoulder shove. *On the battlefield, it is dangerous to be distracted by anything, especially your own body. Even the slightest of headaches can be fatal.* She sighed again. What she would give to be on a battlefield again. Go-Backs weren't meant to live a quiet life.

She looked back. *Well, we'd better head back home.* Ayoris hated calling this forest home. Her home was the mountains, near the Palace. Until then, though, she figured she should stay as positive as she possibly could. *I think Zhey's taking over watch for me.*

Dusk leaned into Bloodmoon's furry chest at the push. The wolf looked up at the elves, wondering if they were at play. He thumped the ground with his tail. The elf sat back up, giving her wolf friend a good scratching behind the ears and under the chin. After a moment of this distraction, Dusk turned her attention back to Ayoris.

*I don't know who's supposed to take over for you,* the Wolfrider shrugged. *But they should be here soon. I'll race you back!* Dusk stood up and deftly climbed the tree they were sitting under. She waited for the Go-Back to reply.
