~The poem must be your own work
~It must follow the standard 5x7x5 format
~It must be nature-based or at least inspired
~Entries are to be posted in this thread using the form below
~You may only submit up to five entries
~I will not correct or even respond to any rule-breaking entries. It’s up to you to make sure that your entry gets in.

| Judging:
Each entry will be judged based on the aspects listed below. There are not set standards; just something that I suggest you pay attention to when constructing your poem.
Unity – Everything meshes; the theme, tone and flow should all complement one another
Flow – Eloquence; not being awkward or choppy
Theme – An appealing or consistent subject
Thoughtful – A poem that sticks with the reader or makes them think
Once again, these aren’t strict standards. Winning this contest isn’t as hard as I’m making it sound; you could come up with something in five minutes and have little to no inspiration at all, and still win as long as it’s good. This contest isn’t meant to be stressful; just a fun way of expressing yourself.

| Prizes
1st Place – Spring EI set, 6,000 silver, 60 gold
2nd Place – ½ Spring EI set, 3,000 silver, 40 gold
3rd Place – ½ Spring EI set, 1,500 silver, 20 gold
~The 2nd and 3rd place winners will be receiving complimenting ½ EI sets. 2nd place will be getting the “better” or rarer half and 3rd place will be getting the other half.
~Even though you may enter up to five haikus, each person may only win one place.
Deadline
Let’s make this clear, so no one gets upset if they miss it.
Whether I’m online or not, whether I’ve added your entry yet or not, or whether you live in the EST zone or not, the deadline for everyone is May 16th, 2010 at 8:00 PM Eastern Standard Time!
If you get your entry in at the last minute at 7:59:59 PM EST, you’re fine, even if I’m not online. As long as I see that you submitted the haiku before 8:00 PM in my time zone, it’s valid.
BUT if you live in a different time zone and think that the deadline is at 8:00 PM and get it in at 7:59:59 PM, then it won’t be accepted if it falls past 8:00 PM my time, because I’m only going by Eastern Standard Time.
The best way to avoid disqualification with this is to either work around our time differences or to get the entry in the day before the deadline.

| i will! although, i think my haiku's would be more inspired by personal experience with nature than just nature itself. does that still work? x3

| @Branny: I'm the same way. x3 Think of it more as abstract writing rather than incomplete or limited writing. That helps me.
By the way, I love your siggy. <3 Pokemanz.
@ecco: Absolutely! I think I put somewhere that you don't even need inspiration, as long as it deals with nature.
