So the power randomly went out today

Our apartment manager said there was an accident and it was going to be an estimated three hours before we got power back.

Of course we can't find our bag of tea lights and it is just getting dark. So we go to the 99.99cent store(LOL SRSLY THEIR NAME) to get some candles(braving all the traffic lights that were out). Once we get there we realize they don't have power either. Luckily there is one of these stores every couple blocks in the ghetto areas surrounding LA where I happen to live. xD

So we get there, take like 30 mins to pick our what candles and candle holders we want(they didn't have any tea lights for some crazy reason) then get snacks, and cards to entertain ourselves. We go to Wendy's for dinner and by the time we get home, about an hour and a half later, the power of course was back on. xDDD

So to make our journey not wasted we pretended it was anyways and didn't use any power and burned some of the candles for like an hour. Cos we're stubborn like that. <3

haha! funny thing is, thats how one of my teachers lives. XD he was telling us about his house - he has electricity and everything, but he prefers to live by candelight! i think its kinda cool.... xD

that is typical tho isnt it haha!

Candle light was nice, but it wasn't very practical and it got really hot with all the fire in the room. xD

oh wow, really? i wouldnt of thought it would get that hot from just candles! o.o

hehe, i love candlelight... but i like playing with the melted wax more xD i tend to stick my fingers in it as soon as you blow the flame out... and end up making a mess chipping wax off my hands and all over the table... xD

You have to light a decent amount of candles to be able to see lol, one candle is not going to light up the whole room.

I used to live in Florida and when a hurricane would knock power out, it was so hot and humid, you had no ac and a bunch of candles lit. Twas hell. xD

i guess our equivalent to that would be the cold... having no boiler in winter here sucks. especially when you live in a pretty big, old, detached house >.>;; also we have no heating where i work, we have to wear scarves and gloves right now so we dont all get too cold and end up ill!

Dang how is it even legal not to have heating in the winter in the UK? D:

Even though the power went out we still had our gas heater. xD

beats me, but tons of customers ask about it xD "oooh its cold in here, dont you have heating?" "well... no ;-; SAVE US"

we were actually TRYING to get customers to file complaints so the company would fix it, but no joy D:

The power rarely goes out here... Except for last year with the bad ice storm that covered the whole northeast that knocked down everything. XP

Aaaaw, that sucks, funny story though. The only time the power ever went out over here was either last year or the year before. I have a funny story to go along with it too.... >_>

our power kept cutting when it snowed over christmas, when i had just joined Mido in fact... and during the event! it sucked, cos it kept happening when i was in the middle of chatting with everyone on here hahaha xD

well... okay then!

So I'll tell you from the beginning. I was upstairs on the computer playing some games when my dad calls me down stairs. Apparently an IM popped up on the downstairs computer because I forgot to log off AIM. someone had sent me a chain mail saying "If you don't send this to 13 people a muderous ghost would come at midnight and kill you with a knife."

So I shut off AIM and scoffed. None of that stuff was true. I went back upstairs and decided to read a book. Around 11:59 the power went off. I dropped my book and fell out of bed and onto the floor. Downstairs I heard footsteps. I thought to myself 'THE CHAIN MAIL OH NO!' then I began to say "Please don't kill me, please don't kill me..." Quickly I got off the floor and wandered into the hallway.

Downstairs I could see a light. I wasn't sure what it was. Suddenly something attacked my feet. I screamed and jumped into the air. It was my dog. Then the power came back on and I felt stupid for succumbing to fearing a chainmail. And that's the story. XD

I honesty thought I was as good as gone too. =P

oh man! i think i would have the same thought for an instant, tho ;P while we're being honest haha!! even tho they are of course a load of rubbish!
