The Boy In Striped Pajamas Journal Entry 1
Topic: An open door allows for an adventure if you are an explorer. ~ How does Bruno’s new world “the farm” allow for his imagination to unfold.
Dear Diary,
Yesterday I was pulled back, but today the open door allowed for my adventure to begin! I snuck through and no one noticed this time. Away through the trees and amongst the long grass! Vroom, Vroom, I was a plane soaring alongside the tallest of the trees, hovering over hills and stretching great distances. Then, Swish, Swipe, I was a noble, fearless knight slashing my way to victory. With a hop in my step I jumped the small creek and was on the other side. A whole new land, ready to explore.
Soon the trees stopped and the forest cleared away. There I saw it, the farm. I carefully paced my steps unsure of what was ahead. Finally I arrived right up close to a high barbed wire fence. Peering around I saw a boy in striped pajamas. This seemed peculiar to me, as did all the people on the farm. I walked up as close as I could to talk with the boy. We talked briefly. I came to find his name was Shcole. Another odd thing about him, but I did not mind any of it. In fact it is the weirdest name I have ever heard, I can barely pronounce it. He seems really nice though and I find him so lucky. I envy that all day long he gets to play with the other kids and have fun. He even has a number and a funny looking star on his chest to represent his place in the game. Oh how I yearn to be a part of that, I wish I could play with the boy in striped pajamas.
Maybe I can find someway in? I could go see him everyday and make friends with them all. Somehow I could one day get over that fence and play with them too. As an explorer it is my duty to explore and make friends along the way. So it’s decided. Tomorrow I will go and see the boy in striped pajamas again. I want to know so much more about the farm and his life. I want to play in his games. Today was so much fun.

the film is so sad, and i think you did a great job of capturing Bruno's innocence and childlike naivety. the only thing i would change is the "sincerely, bruno" at the end, since it makes it sound more like a letter than a diary entry.
